A pretty interesting start and I'm itching to see where you could take this. You'll have to lay some serious groundwork during the 20 year gap for us to believe Ranma/Rukia can work. Not that I'm saying it can't but during Rukia's two month stay in the human world, she seemed to develop a strong bond to Ichigo and vice-versa. I'm also interested in seeing some Ranma/Soi Fong, Ranma/Nemu, Ranma/Momo (don't kill me, HitsuHina fans!) and Ranma/Nanao. As for Ranma's zanpakutou, you could always borrow the three swords wielded by InuTaisho from Rumiko's other famous work InuYasha. Tenseiga could act as basic zanpakutou form, Tetsusaiga as Shikai (perhaps with the activation sequence being "Roar! Tetsusaiga!") and Sou'unga as Bankai. It'll make sense if you go and watch the third InuYasha movie with the plot revolving around those three swords.

Well, if I were to be asked what pairing I would want, I could've automatically replied Ranma/Akane. BUT... I'm really fond of new and not so normal types of pairings, so if I were asked what pairings I would suggest in this fic, I'll say Ranma/Rukia, OR Ranma/Orihime. If you're leaving Rukia to canon pairing (Ichigo/Rukia), then Ranma/Orihime would be great. Besides, Ranma and Akane can't be together in this fic, if your idea is what I think it is. Another pairing I have in mind is one of those in the Soul Society paired up with Ranma, thoughI haven't paid attention much to the arc yet. So, right now, Ranma/Orihime is the best bet.
