Each little vignette is so telling about each character, of the lasting mark that they've left on one another. There is some very lovely imagery there, and real killer sentences: In her imagination, she fills her future home with sunlight and peonies, and a husband who's an odd mixture of silent dignity and wild, joyful spite. Perfect summing up of her feelings towards them both, and the warmth and equilibrium she brought to them as a unit. The man's head comes off in a final clean sweep, and Mugen observes the passing with a moment of silence before turning and kicking dust onto the corpse. I love that moment you give him: a dignified surveyance, like something of Jin's reserve and politeness has rubbed off on him. He lays behind her now, his breath on her neck, a hand on her breast. In front of his closed eyes flash vibrant memories of pink and red. I'm so happy that Jin, of all of them, who by virtue of the magnitude of his losses seemed the one least with a future, should be the one to have found his home and some measure of peace.
