I can see all the reasons why Ryou would/could still harbor feelings for Malik and maybe why he would still care for Malik and still want him. But is it right? Is it really love or wishful thinking/wanting? There are also too many reasons for Ryou to be distrustful of Malik. The safe way, naturally, would be to avoid Malik like the plague. But, Ryou doesn't play it safe anymore, does he? Malik still holds sway over him to some extent even if Ryou tends to try to deny it. Who wouldn't think that this was some Higher Power intervening to perhaps set things right? The whole coffee/creampuff scene was terrific. One could feel the tension and the "wrongness" of the chance meeting. That Ryou fled like he did was on par with Ryou's emotional distress. That Malik chased after him for the reason you had flash through Malik's head at the time was unexpected. It made me think there was hope and that Malik wasn't such a prick after all. Well, at least at that particular moment. Was it a surprise that Ryou took pills of whatever sort? Not really. He's not only pretty messed up emotionally but if you wanted to get caught up in the health issues of sleeping around like Ryou does... well, yeah. And, Ryou, honey... you were just contemplating with yourself about the issue of wine in regards to Malik and then what did you go and do, hm? You bring wine into the house on your own. Sigh. You're setting yourself up, sweetheart. And... we're back to Malik being a HUGE prick! Great! Now he's trying to reconcile with himself why he is near obsessed with Ryou but if Ryou doesn't want a relationship, Malik HOPES that Ryou will at least sleep with him???? At least ONCE??? Oh, GOD! SLAP!!! BAKURA??? WHERE ARE YOU??? Get your beautiful ass over here and fix this mess up with your darling Ryou! ; ) (I hope you know I am just teasing you with the Bakura stuff!) Ryou's whole life since reuniting (sort of) with Malik has been a comedy of errors and twists of cruel fate. Yep. I nailed the portrait. Bastard. Where's the ring, Malik? BAKURA!!! Loved the chapter and your unique storytelling talent... can't wait to rant some more! Bring it on!

Malik is more of a whore than Ryou. Trying to get back with him but if not then just get him into bed. They are both cheaters-Garret and Malik- I mean. Poor Ryou is the victim. Good chapter.

Out of this whole chapter, the line that struck a chord the most was Ryou's offhanded observation that Xander had "murderous eyes". Well, that doesn't bode well for someone, does it? Poor Ryou is still caught in emotional turmoil - he still has unresolved feelings for Malik - and Malik isn't helping much by actively pursuing Ryou (even though Malik is... well, attached, isn't he? Bastard.). Ryou admitted that he only has a brotherly sort of "love" for Xander who wants to marry Ryou unbeknownst to the white-haired one... Ryou also had mentioned he felt used by Xander - that Xander knew of Ryou's weakness when it comes to consuming wine and yet Xander bedded him anyway. Bastard. Even if you were not 100 percent happy with your latest chapter, it was a great read and gave greater depth into Ryou's thoughts and concerns. Who would I like Ryou to end up with? Me, the sucker for happy endings would suggest - Bakura! None of the characters deserve Ryou for many reasons. Xander has questionable motives for his near obsession with Ryou. Malik has been a total prick from day one and is even now playing the fence. As much as Ryou still loves Malik, I would hope that he wouldn't play whore with Malik. So, that leaves only one choice... bring in Bakura and let His Evilness sweep Ryou off his feet! Make Ryou REALLY happy! : )

I don't think Ryou's morals would let him accept Xanders proposal, since he doesn't love him. I wonder if Xander will try to get Malik out of the way permanently. Ryou did say he had a killer's eyes.

If it is a Character from the show I would guess Kaiba but other than that I don't know. I feel bad for Xander. If he wants Ryou he better get in gear. I love the way this chapter is in two points of view. Will Ryou accept Xander or hold out for Malik.

It was interesting how you not only changed the story's perspective, as sort of told from another character's point-of-view (and an OC at that) but from two separate OC's... each vying for Ryou's attention. What a tangled web you have woven here! I am very impressed how the story is written - how it flows. I love your characterization of Ryou who is the epitome of innocent vs. whore-out-of-necessity. I like the curveball you threw us! Keeping us readers on our toes! It would have been too easy to have Malik find Ryou at the club, hm? Very sneaky, indeed! So, Ryou went against his own rule - going home with a client who is spoken for. The description of the artwork was beautifully done. Man, the story's path is going to get even uglier real soon, isn't it? I look forward to reading more!

He kept moving from town to town, not able to stay in one place long enough to call it home. And, he runs into his ex-lover at his more "acceptable" place of employment out of the blue. You managed to run the entire gamut of what Ryou was feeling during that unexpected/chance reunion - sorrow, anger, bitterness, love that never died, loneliness. One cannot condemn Ryou for having broken down like he did. He never recovered when Malik left him and shattered his heart. The slap was well deserved - and as you had mentioned - 10 years in coming. Surprisingly Malik wanted to meet him afterwards. I shared Ryou's suspicions that Malik would not show. I was glad that you gave Ryou the opportunity (for whatever good it did in regards to Malik) to share with Malik the hurt Malik caused him all those years ago, a hurt that never went away. Ryou was quick to notice that the words "I love you" were not said during their conversations. I shared Ryou's disbelief that Malik could still consider them friends... And now Ryou is at his rather "unsavory" job. Why do I have the sinking feeling that a certain Egyptian is either in the audience or he'll find his way to the club eventually? ; ) GREAT chapter!

| Reviewed By: sglily - nli On: December 29, 2006 23:41 CST Comment/Review: I really can't believe that I never saw this story before. Wow. Ryou paired up with Malik is not a combination that is found often and when it is done right, it can be incredible. You, my dear, have done it right. Malik is most definitely the charmer, isn't he? Able to talk himself out of a situation to get himself an extra chance. Able to convince another that feelings of love are shared equally. He is also gutless, arrogant, and conniving as it turns out. He may look perfect on the outside but what's inside leaves much to be desired, at least up to this point in your tale and most unfortunately for Ryou. Poor Ryou... he is a mess. Even from the beginning of your story where he tells his own tale and has to relive his past sadness abounds. He speaks of heartbreak, loneliness, dreams that didn't come to pass, a life that should have been full of love and happiness that instead fell into despair. And now through some twist of fate they meet again. Maybe things can be set to right. This story is many things. It is well written and has a fluidity to it that is remarkable. I was hooked from the beginning - even though it was hard to see Ryou suffer and take the fall as he so often does in fanfics. However, it wasn't just a random act of violence or Ryou with no backbone. Ryou fell in love and got hurt, got burnt bad, and we got to experience his life, his failures, and a few of his finer moments from mostly his point of view. Keep up the good work! I look forward to reading more!
