It was so honest and intimate, like he had opened his heart for the world to see. I especially like the part where he was learning how to pronounce Akefia's name. I was surprised by Akefia's reason for summoning Ryou to "their" field. Jealousy. And, that he had the nerve to call Ryou on it, asking about the girl and of Ryou's intentions. How heartbreaking that Akefia asked if Ryou would marry him! Ah, and now their forbidden friendship has graduated to another form of forbidden relationship. I cringed at the line about Ryou headed for an early grave. Is Ryou a brat? He's the master's son and priveleged. To some extent one would expect him to be. He's behaving how he was brought up to be within that particular time period in history... with exceptions. He's learning and trying to find himself. Akefia in your story hasn't come across as the equivalent of a strong, bull-headed dark side of Ryou and/or Thief King - Mariku sort of fits that bill at the moment. And, I predict his (Mariku) will be the next chapter... ; ) Ryou already knows Mariku is jealous of the relationship he shares with Akefia. Yikes. Good chapter!

A very horrific beginning to life from Bakura's standpoint, a life that unfortunately got worse as time went by. I love how Bakura and Ryou met. Ryou was so gentle and curious - I love him like that! - with a little bit of a rebellious streak running through that one which gives him more of a backbone that oftentimes he lacks in fanfictions. Great job! I'll be looking forward to more of this one!
