While the idea is original, the execution is just sad. The female
characters of Love Hina are pushed aside and made useless to focus
on a fight between OCs and waves of Chinese mooks, with Keitaro
turned into an elite US Marine (in just a few months) with not even
lip service paid to how many laws that would break. The author then
tries out his best Tom Clancy impression for the resulting battles
between people we're given no reason to care about, but despite
painstaking attention to which model of rifle is used by each
individual soldier, they seem to have ridiculous notions on how
they can be applied to a goddamn TANK. The tactics employed by
either side are laughable most of the time, the supporting
framework for badly-written firefights ludicrously inadequate, and
not even a single mention of the Japanese SDF during an invasion of
Tokyo! The person writing this has no idea what they're talking
about, can't properly demonstrate their fannish luster for the
USMC, adds video game monsters in with no logic or reason, and
really needed to stop. I am very glad that they finally did so.
