The idea isn't completely the same as the movie which gives it some originality, and there are tons of differences (little and big) between this fic and the movie. It seems more like you just took a basic idea and molded it into something that, while different, still was the same on a basic level. However, there are too many loose ends. You should have gone more in depth to each character's feelings. How does Sesshoumaru feel about his Father? Because at the end it's kind of confusing. Does he love him, but not want his help in life, or does he hate him for what he's done? Why had Touga spoiled InuYasha but tried so hard to seemingly ostracize Sesshoumaru? Did Touga know that InuYasha have so many girlfriends and make so many mistakes and slack off so much? If Touga did know, did you simply choose to ignore it? Or were those exaggerations made by Sesshoumaru is his own thoughts? They seem to be implied to be exaggerations since it seems like Kikyou has been with InuYasha for a while. If they weren't, what were Kikyou's thoughts on InuYasha flirting and messing around then? Those are all questions that could have been answered in the story by a flashback, or a PoV switch or something. This isn't a bad fic, not in the least, but there are so many loose ends that it makes me want to rip my hair out in frustration. It's enjoyable, but it leaves too much out in the open, to me.

cute. I liked the choice of Overboard as a baseline story -- the KagSess dynamic is different enough from the general Overboard storyline that it wasn't dull reading this story (e.g. it didn't directly reflect every nuance of the movie, instead this story possessed its own unique character.) I often hesitate to read fictions based on existing stories, but I'm not disappointed to have read this one.
