It fits his character well, especially the silly trappings like the detective hat. Highly original and enjoyable to read. The writing style isn't bad, but there's no need to avoid the word "said" so much. Unusual dialogue tags are jarring and often unnecessary; they interrupt the reader's visualization of the events. Same goes for flowery narration. Remember, the reason we have so many words is so we can convey with one word what would otherwise take a sentence. If a word isn't serving a purpose, consider removing it. I know it's been a long time since you last updated this, but if you wrote more I'd gladly read it.
