Comment/Review: great update... seems to be like a prequel to akihana's abandonment - which was a good story also... but this is starting to be very different... wonder what happens when inuyasha & kagome finally meet... hope it'll be different from the other story and still have a happy ending?... update when you can... please and thank you...

I'm *so* glad you updated! I was really curious to see how this chapter was going to play out. It differs from "Abandonment" in that your fic, Inuyasha's motivation to go with Kikyo is to give Kagome her happy future with a reincarnation, rather than just focusing purely on Inu's own desires to be with Kikyo. I can believe this reason because it seems that as selfish as everyone likes to portray Inuyasha in various fanfics, he really in many ways is very selfless towards his companions. Even though it seemed a little strange to have Inu bearing his soul to a strange, bulbous creature...it is refreshing to have him open up. I am curious to see Kagome's reaction to his return. Even though I am a diehard and thorough Inu-Kag lover, when you have a set up like this, it just begs for Kagome *not* to play the doormat. She needs to stick up for her feelings and her sense of being abandoned... Don't make us wait too long!

The entire reason he did what he did was so that, in the end, he'd be with Kagome again. So even though he was tricked, he never intentionally abandoned her at all! Really looking forward to seeing the way the rest of this story plays out. BTW, thank you for your kind words regarding my own stories. Mating Season took forever, but now that it's finally over, I plan on eventually making a continuation format sequel to Watching Her Sleep (if that's what you were referring to), and I will probably also be expanding Red Eyes, Warm Heart.

I always find it fascinating to see what the characters are thinking on the inside about a situation. I really loved this last chapter too.... (I'm dubbing it, the 'Purgatory Scene'), it's really nice to finally have InuYasha let everything out in the open. I mean, the guy just never does, and seeing him do it, with a complete stranger no less, is also a nice touch. Love your writing style too. Very Inuesque is a way, gruff and cocky in all the right places, and soft and gentle as well where it needs to be. Overall, I can't wait to see what the next chapter will reveal. Keep up the wonderful writing!

I mean, there's little doubt she'll forgive him, but I can't help but wonder if you'll have her be somewhat cold to him... after all, whether he knew it or not, he left her alone, to fend for herself, and now Kaede is dead, too. He cares for her, but he's gruff... and I'm tempted to say Kagome's going to be a bit jaded about the whole scenario. After all, him coming back to her *after* going to Hell with Kikyou (well, that didn't happen, obviously, but the thought was there) is probably just going to cement the fact in her mind that she's always second to Kikyou. I'm very intrigued and cannot wait to read the end of this. Keep up the great work.

I will see if I can look it up. But at any rate, you are already original in that you are giving us more of a prequel to where that other story began, and you have other differences in that Kagome was gravely injured, and that Inuyasha encountered Miroku and Sango before her. Also, in the other one-shot, he was not lost in a daze unaware of the passage of time. He had not gone into Hell with Kikyou, but rather, he had merely wandered the woods with her in her false body until it eventually gave out. There are definitely enough differences to avoid any accusation of plagiarism, at least in my own opinion, although I cannot, and will not, speak for the author of the original one-shot. However, if it were me, as I have already had others write their own stories based upon my ideas in the past, I can tell you honestly that I would be flattered. I think what truly makes all the difference is that you acknowledge that you were inspired by another's fic, rather than pretending that these ideas were uniquely your own. That is no different from someone writing a fic based off of Beauty and the Beast, to name one of many examples. From a criticism stand point, I find that I really have none. It was well written, and I look forward to the other installments.
