God, you are so right about Otacon's past, lesson learned for the future. I really appreciate your honesty and input and wish I could write you an email in appreciation, but que cera cera. (admins, if this isn't cool, replying to a review, just give me a nudge) I do think normal-yearning Snake is in canon, he doesn't want to be part of the rat-race (hence Alaska) but he does need partnership, a sense of belonging, love... I felt that way playing MGS1 and I get the same vibe from MGS4. I guess that's up for interpretation on a personal level. ANYWAY... THANKS for the constructive review and lesson learned. :)

Great use of nanomachines too. :P But I'm not convinced it's IC, especially the idea that Snake would yearn for a normal life - his deliberate and repeated isolations in canon don't seem to chime with that, and if it is how you see him I think it could have been more justified, emotionally, than it was. You've got a great talent for conveying emotions, so it feels like you could've gone the extra mile here. One other nitpick...it's canon that Otacon survived sexual abuse from his stepmother when he was a teenager, so I really get squicked when I see a 'no' disrespected from him. That's just my $0.02 there, but again, when you're this good at bringing out your characters' emotions, one wants to see the more difficult canon elements of the characters dealt with rather than skated over. I think you're a good writer, but canon is your friend.
