I thought I'd start with this collection. Your poetry is strong in your prose pieces, something I've noticed before. I really like that about your style. It makes it almost the more immediate and alive. This first story in the collection smouldered. There was so much subtext going on and the little that you revealed was plenty for the imagination. There can be much said for the understated in fanfiction. Too often, I think, the reader demands the nitty gritty and we give in and it's not nearly as good. There's a place for it, but there's also a place for the subtle. We don't need to see Kagome and Inuyasha make love here. We just need to know that it is about to happen. I'd love to point out every line that I loved, but I'll stick to one for now. I absolutely adored this line: The moonlight touched InuYasha's hair, giving it a spectral, otherworldly appearance, highlighting it where it touched, accenting the shadow where it wrapped him. It gave me such a powerful image. It spoke such volumes about what was going on and how the moonlight was effecting Inuyasha without being in our faces about it. I also loved the relationship itself presented here. We're seeing a confident, assured couple here, not the insecure and awkward couple of the manga---especially in the early manga. They're not children anymore. We're not seeing the shyness or the misunderstandings. Each one knows what the other wants before it's even said. Their bodies communicate as much as their dialogue does. I did love the fact that even now Inuyasha asks first. He knows that she'll say yes, but he won't follow through until she actually says it. In the past they would have fought about such a thing possibly and ended up going their separate ways for the night. I love how you showed this adult situation in an adult manner. I'd like to think that by now they're past the fumbling, anyways. I do look forward to reading more of it, and seeing just how this relationship will continue to blossom.

Reviewed By: kokoronagomu [MediaMiner Member] On: March 26, 2009 18:34 CDT Comment/Review: interesting portrayal of 'the mother'. her attitude that she was shown to have in manga as a mask for the hurt and anger at being his 'least loved' wife. although she did follow her husband's directions in sesshoumaru's 'lesson'. ♣ how very fitting a name for such a noble lady. ♥ gin

Title: Mother's blessing... Reviewed By: SplendentGoddess [MediaMiner Member] On: March 26, 2009 12:27 CDT Rating(s):Overall Rating: 10 of 10 Comment/Review: I love all of your little short-shots, and you know I do, but I just had to post an official review for this one. I thought you captured her personality - what little of it we were privy to in the manga - absolutely perfectly. I love the name you snagged for her, too; very fitting. I was touched by the fact that it apparently never really bothered her, specifically, that the Inu no Taisho had left her for a human, but rather, that he had merely left her for another at all. She doesn't care that Sesshoumaru's chosen one is mortal, or that her grandchildren are all destined to be hanyou. All she cares about is that her son remain loyal to his original chosen, as we catch that tiny glimpse of the pain she masks so well. Beautifully done!

Reviewed By: kokoronagomu [MediaMiner Member] On: March 15, 2009 17:51 CDT Comment/Review: i missed chapter seventeen!! sorry, don't know how i could have done that. ♠ it was funny how everyone else's damage just got a nod. i figure if he could uproot a big tree and shove it into the well, he could always transplant another tree. he's just not imagining the possibilities. ♦ she did put the stew 'near' the fire on 'slow cook' mode. the meat will be a bit more tender. besides if you watch: youtube.com/watch?v=TSSYKTrD8ho you will notice that japanese usually don't eat anything well done. (actually the whole 'cooking with dog' series is great!) ♥
