It was easy to figure out it just happened to be the baby's human time...I'm actually surprised Sesshoumaru didn't realize it himself, although I really like the way you portrayed him instead misunderstanding and running out. It showed his more emotional side, the side I'm sure he would rather we didn't know existed. Even the great Sesshoumaru is capable of jumping to incorrect conclusions and making mistakes. It really should have dawned on Inuyasha sooner, too, but it probably would have had he not immediately been preoccupied by running after his idiot older brother. All in all, wonderful update. Keep up the awesome work! |

Sesshomaru did have to face the consequences of his actions, and I think he handled it rather well. I thought it was interesting, however, that he still considers what his father did a mistake. Yet, I got the impression that he doesn't view what he did with Rin----and the pregnancy that will eventually happen as such. He even knows it will happen, if it hasn't already. I just wonder if he'll feel the same way after a child is born, a hanyou one no less. Here he's probably acknowledged what he's felt and decided a long time ago. He's decided to be with Rin and now it's simply official. Before it was rather ambiguous and not clearly defined. Now that he's taken the plunge, I don't think he really had a choice but to take responsibility. While it's not addressed, I think the other issue for Rin that isn't on the page here is how she'll be accepted by the villagers. While the village accepts her and knows of her connections with the Demon Lord and accept Inuyasha and Kagome, I wonder if they'll accept this new union. It's something he may have to consider. I also thought it was interesting that you chose the words "wife" and "husband." It's certainly not the common choice in this fandom, yet seems highly appropriate. All in all, well done and I can't wait to read the next installment.

Reviewed By: FarAwayEyes [MediaMiner Member] On: February 14, 2010 16:44 EST Comment/Review: I thought I'd start with reviewing this collection before I move on to Minoue again. I really like this first installment. You're not sure what Rin's really up to until the very end. It's nice to see that not even Sesshomaru knew. I'd have to say I really enjoyed this because you captured the nature of their relationship so well. There's an awkwardness to it, yet a sweetness that can't always be clearly defined. These two tend to dance around each other carefully and aren't always sure how to broach the subject of romance. I love how you tied the canon at the end of the manga into this story, as well. Rin has probably received more kimono and other gifts than anyone else in Japan at this point. It's nice to see her wearing one and his reaction to it. It gave us a chance to see how Sesshomaru's view on Rin has changed, too. I particularly liked the line: He could not help but to admit that she was blossoming as beautifully as the flora that surrounded them. It captured both of them, and Rin in particular, beautifully. Rin is so connected to flowers and to see that presented here was a treat. I loved how protective Sesshomaru was of Rin when they finally reached the clearing. He couldn't even help expressing it. He didn't like the idea of Rin being so far away from the village. Even if he's not his brother's best friend in the whole world, he had to grudgingly be grateful to him for protecting Rin. The poor thing and his sensitive nose, though! I thought it was funny that he realized that they had been rather "active" in the clearing and how it affected him. He never stood a chance when Rin revealed her surprise. I also loved how you approached Rin. She was very sweet and innocent, and yet she was very much an adult in this story. She doesn't have the experience to seduce Sesshomaru on her own, so she asked Kagome. I must say I wouldn't be surprised if Kagome told her to drop her robes at the right moment, but then again who's to say that Kagome hadn't joked about doing it and Rin took it seriously? It was most certainly the most direct method. My guess is that Sesshomaru might not like Kagome knowing about their intimate relationship, but in this case he'll probably forgive it. After all, if Rin hadn't talked to Kagome about it, he might not have gotten his "desert." I look forward to reading more of this little collection and where it goes next.

Since those details are never given in the manga at all, I find nothing wrong with pulling certain information from the movies and still calling it canon. What you added yourself in regard to how Izayoi came to be with Inuyasha's father, and Sesshoumaru's mother having visited them, was very creative and believable. Beautiful little conversation. Keep up the good work!

Reviewed By: Inumimi [MediaMiner Member] On: October 05, 2009 12:50 EDT Comment/Review: Once again I must bemoan the fact that you are writing in such a limited word format! I want more! You are such I great writer (I so love your longer works). I really love this story line and hope you continue to give us more bits of information about InuYasha's mother and the upcoming war between humans and youkai. I also look forward to the birth of Sess's first child! Also will you let us know how a hanyou and a human can create a full youkai child?

I know the limited format forces you to be very creative (to get lots of story across in just a few words), but I would love a few longer chapters!
