I can especially relate to this, because a little over a year ago, my father-in-law actually found an abandoned puppy in a box on the side of the road. Well, his dog that he was walking found the abandoned puppy, because he too was going to pass the box up - only because he hadn't realized there was anything inside it - until his dog started acting strange. Immediately he brought the starved little puppy home, and fortunately, she did not seem to be injured at all. We were all at a loss for what to do with the dog, and my husband and I were starting to contemplate keeping her ourselves before one of his sisters agreed to take her. So "Amber" has been living happily for the last year with my sister-in-law. One less tragic outcome in a world full of unfairness.
