It's true that sometimes sad things happen, and life doesn't turn out the way we had hoped, and strictly speaking from a literary point of view, this is very well-written. "Sad" just isn't my personal preference. That being said, I still say well done, and as far as your comment regarding the kotodama is concerned, I actually agree with you. Kagome didn't abuse the thing in the manga anywhere near as much as they had her do in the anime, for "comic relief", and in the final chapter of the manga where they are shown running together after she's clearly lived there for at least a little while, is already 'with' Inuyasha and currently training under Kaede, he is shown still wearing the kotodama rosary. Whether or not the spell has been removed is up for speculation, but it's clearly not an object that either Kagome or Inuyasha have come to despise, or surely they would have removed it by that point. I think it was necessary for it's original purpose at one point in time, and then yes, for a while, she did abuse it, but he also deliberately pushed her buttons on several occasions, and then gradually over time they both matured, and the need to remove the rosary simply disappeared with its continued inactivation. It became a token of the past, a keepsake of sorts, and I can definitely see Kagome keeping and wearing it herself should anything tragic truly befall him before her time.
