I think I remember reading this one when it was new, though I don't remember it in enough detail to pick out everything you changed. I still like it, though. I'm assuming the major change to explain Kouga's behavior is the tainted jewel shards? I do like that idea and am actually working on a story of my own that includes that aspect, though don't worry because other than that it's not really going to be anything like this fic. I do wonder though why nobody else has ever thought to use that angle. Heck, I'm surprised how the Canon Kouga was able to keep his shards pure. I guess he really was a good guy at heart; it is true that intentions are what control whether the jewel is pure or tainted, though once it's tainted it takes somebody like Kagome to purify it because otherwise the tainted jewel will taint the will of whoever holds it. One thing in this one-shot I couldn't help but notice was also how the full-youkai Inuyasha didn't have any desire for the power of the jewel shards. I liked that, too. Just one more thing to prove to him that he isn't really a monster, no matter what form he's in. Good job! |
