I really enjoyed this story. I've never seen something like this before where we get to see how Kagome would have reacted if she had been in Kikyou's place. I never believed that she would have shot Inuyasha even if she had been raised the same as Kikyou. They may share the same soul, but there is something about Kagome that makes her who she is that would never allow her to harm Inuyasha (the subjugation beads don't count). This story is going in my favorites.

I can agree that Kagome would never do something like that, even if she was brought up the same way as Kikyou. It's true that someone's personality is also based on how they're raised, but you still can't really change how they think. The perfect example you made was that Kagome may have been told all her life that demons were bad, but that didn't mean she had to believe it. The truth of the matter is that Inuyasha and Kikyou just weren't in the right position to trust each other, even if they shared some affection, so you can't blame Inuyasha for feeling guilty or still having some doubts. But at least Kagome was able to help them both. She gave Inuyasha unconditional love, and helped him to make friends and truely trust them. Then in the end she was able to help Inuyasha save Kikyou's soul. Anyway, wonderfully done, and Keep up the good work! XD

I've never seen a 'what could have been' flashback sequence done anywhere evenly remotely like this one. A truly unique idea. I especially loved their little conversation right at the end there. Well done!
