Oh awesome! I thought at first that this was only just a two-shot, since in a way after the first two chapters it did kind of seem like that could have been the end of it, but I love that it's actually a longer story. Also, yes, I did reread the first two chapters at your suggestion, and I noticed how you expanded them a bit. I've always liked this type of scenario, a confrontation with a bigoted idiot; it makes for good drama in a fanfic setting, the priest that doesn't understand in his closed-mindedness who almost purifies Inuyasha to death and causes all kinds of problems before suddenly learning the error of his ways. Oh wow...this has got to be the most epic two-shot ever. Only two relatively small chapters and I was at the edge of my seat the whole time. Good job! Damn that priest...is he so foolish he doesn't even know a hanyou once he's purified one? Thank goodness the purifying effects were not permanent, though I had not expected them to be. That's gotta be one major pro to being hanyou that just might outweigh most of the cons. He wasn't even being killed for being 'hanyou' but for being 'youkai' and so being half human is totally what saved his life this time, even if it's had him on the run at other times. And damn those villagers for turning against them so quickly! Though like Miroku pointed out, they never really 'knew' them to begin with, and as you pointed out they had always been under the impression that Miroku had had Inuyasha under some sort of a spell. Easy to draw the conclusions they had, then, to see him carrying the unconscious monk. Either that or something else afflicted the monk but the spell is still holding and so like the loyal pet he is Inuyasha was dutifully trying to aid his human master. But nooooooooo, that possibility didn't even cross anyone's minds. I could rant on and on, but that just proves how much I love your writing because I'm not ranting at you but the morons in your story, which means it was so real that I wish I could jump into your universe and smack them around myself, LOL. So good job! Looking forward to whatever else it is you produce next. :-) |
