I've seen Inuyasha get her her own robe before a few times, of course, though usually not with as much detail as you put into those particular scenes. Usually he just goes off and then later shows up with the finished product, so I really liked that you introduced us to the tanner, and making him Totosai's brother was even better, LOL. Also loved that test of integrity you had him do; most people if they use mention of spider-youkai silk always make it super strong, so I really liked your angle instead, having it be fanciful but useless as far as protection goes. It's like regular silk, then, except for the enchanting quality of really making one want to own it. Good thing to have around for a test of will, then. Also, while I figured we were going to end up seeing Kagome's new robe in action I liked the way you did it, that it was just some silly, run of the mill battle that had accidentally gotten out of hand because of his thoughtlessness. Most people probably would have made a much grander battle, probably against Naraku or something, but this just goes to show how dangerous it really was in that time with all the various youkai running around. If it hadn't been for their conversation that night by the campfire Kagome really could have been killed right then, and for what? Maybe he'll learn a lesson from that and not be so quick to goad or underestimate his enemies from here on out. All in all, fabulous little story. At first I was like 'too bad her quiver and arrows aren't protected, they might still burn up' since she obviously has to wear them outside of the robe, but then I was like, wait...if we combine universes with 'Of Weapons and Smiths' then she's already got an indestructible quiver. Problem solved! LOL. :-) |
