But, hey we are speaking of Youji aren't we? *g* Brad was very OOC in the end, but I liked it. At least, fearing that Youji would leave him did the thing. I'll go on reading the sequell. | Reviewed By: okiayu_kaori [MediaMiner Member] On: September 16, 2002 20:24 CDT Comment/Review: An example I forgot to mention:
Take Final Fantasy 8 for example. Squall is your traditional lone wolf, "whatever"-response character. Yet when he falls in love, he goes through a transformation that leads to him behaving in what you might call "OOC" behavior -- this is what love IS. ^^ To quote Willow from Buffy, "love makes you do the wacky." This was a difficult story to write, considering that the result of its conclusion is the transformation of a villain to a hero. There really was no way to get "what I wanted" in the story without changing Brad, considering that he obviously would not continue wanting to kill Weiß or having any reasons to be evil after falling in love with Youji. My view is that he is OOC in the sense that he is no longer evil, which makes him a different person, true -- but I do believe that since we see so little of his real personality, if any at all, in the series that I was basically safe to write him the way that I wanted him, in the end and in the sequel. Basically, I tried to keep him calm, cool, and collected, yet still keeping that short fuse which so many wonderful fics write him to have (and you really haven't seen a temper yet with my writing of him, except for his almost-suicide-attempt upon realizing the error of his ways).
In other words, I changed his motivations, which resulted in a change of his attitude, but not neccessarily his personality. ^_^ I hope you understand. Thank you for the review! I hope you enjoy the sequel. I will be busting my rear trying to crank it out soon. |
