solar plexus? you could have just said "stomach" or "pit of stomach". You know, there are more subtle ways to scream:
Somebody shoot me! I'm a pre-med!
Other than that, though, it was a good fic. I liked how you alternated between flashbacks and reality. That took skill and good coordination.
