"Beyond Hate" Reviews/Comments [ 6 ]

Comment/Review:
Thanks again for those who've reviewed and/or read this fic. I hope it was worthwhile, weird as it was. :)

To respond to a few comments and questions, if the reviewers happen to read this:

- Vegeta's spinal column wasn't damaged; it was the Minister of Justice's spine that went through the grinder. The Minister refused his request of possession, and Vegeta didn't take no for an answer... :)

- Kia hit the nail on the head: Vegeta became just like Frieza in the end, twisted and insane. Given what happened to him in this timeline, I thought it made sense. There was no Bulma for him, no Goku to hold him back, no Earth to tame him. I'm convinced Vegeta would have been one evil SOB if the DBZ gang hadn't been around.

- The Nameks really did vanish. After Frieza destroyed (Old) Namek, they realized that they were more vulnerable than they thought, and afterwards, sought to correct this. They would not let the same mistake happen again; they considered their larger goals too important to risk annihilation. After the fall of the Cold Empire, they became convinced that their corner of the galaxy was becoming too dangerous, and was a lost cause to their work. They then literally packed up and left, twisting off their section of space and reattaching it elsewhere, in hopefully friendlier territory. They didn't have to take every atom of matter around them, but they did it as a show of power to those left behind, sort of a final giving of the finger before they blew town. In any case, what Dragonballs might be left are now far out of the reach of the Saiyans.

- Again, this story was an AU. The real timeline in which the trilogy will take place is quite a bit brighter. Conflicts and problems, yes, but there's also hope. I'm a sucker for happy/hopeful endings. Part of the reason for writing this was to see if I could "do" dark and evil. I'd like to think I was somewhat successful, but I will say that the rest of the writing I have in mind is much less dark and forbidding.

- You will see Goku and Vegeta together, but maybe not right off. You'll also see Goten and Trunks, Gohan and Videl, and some other pairings that might be more surprising. Those who really want hints to what the overall story deals with are asked to email me. Suffice to say that it's a big story, and goes in a few directions I haven't seen in other fanfics.

- Payback is a bitch, and in this case, is pretty uncomfortable... :/

Thanks again!

a disturbing story but I think it was well-written, capturing vegeta's hate and revenge well. it is sad to see that vegeta, too has slipped into madness in the end but it wasn't unexpected. *nods* very gripping, very thought-provoking...nicely done.

hmmm...the only slightly jarring parts i found was the part about the Namek space...*shrugs* personal opinion only...unless your point was to further emphasize the fact that the dragonballs were truly gone.

(The following is not directed at the comments/reviews by PrincessBulma and Hard Candy Vegetto, found above this one. Their comments are perfectly reasonable.)

After a rather angry "review" from someone earlier tonight, which has since been removed (My first flame! Yay!), I am adding a brief warning to the story description. However, I should point out one or two things for those tempted to flame me for this story:

- It is rated NC17 for a reason.
- It is labeled "Horror" for a reason.
- It is labeled "Hentai" for a reason, and in this case, literally is hentai.
- It is described as "not for the kiddies" for (yes, you guessed it) a reason.

You are perfectly justified if you feel disturbed after reading this story. The subject matter is disturbing. I tried to think of what might happen if Frieza had not been killed when he was in the canonical storyline, and what would ultimately happen to Vegeta in this case. My imagination took it from there.

The events depicted within are not meant to be gratuitous or titillating. They're ugly. Life is like that sometimes, even in fiction. If and when I get around to writing the overall story trilogy, "Beyond Hate" will almost certainly be the darkest part of it. However, I will not apologize for writing it. It was intended to be a worst-case scenario.

I do not begrudge those who are disturbed by rape. Not at all. Rape is disgusting, period, but that was what the story called for. Those who have problems reading adult-oriented material are advised to look over the descriptions to fics before reading them.

I will gladly accept constructive criticism for this story, and anything else I post to MM. Reviewers, however, who don't care for the subject matter and show it by casting aspersions and innuendoes on my hobbies, love life, and sexuality will find their little missives removed as soon as I see them.

In other words, if you think about flaming my writing (or, for that matter, anyone else's), I suggest you grow up a little first. It's a big world, and not everyone sees things the way you do, whether you like it or not.

Open your mind; that's what fiction is about.

I found this story to be quite gripping. I do want you to do the trilogy...as I am hoping the other alternatives to how Vegeta's life might turn out are happier than this one. Hmm...I gathered that the Nameks are hidden...was I mistaken? Any hints...will we see any Goku/Vegeta? I hope so. I haven't read another story quite like this one...some very interesting ideas...really a good if disturbing read.
