OK, I'm new to this story, so I got all the angstiness (heh) all at once.
I really enjoy AU fics, and it is interesting to see how characters are portrayed in them, considering that their backgrounds are obviously going to be quite different outside the GW universe.
The constructive criticism part isn't too bad. A few typos or wrong words, but nothing that makes me want to bang my head against the monitor (I've seen some good stories that had SO many spelling errors, it was hard to get around them and into the plot). Once in a while the dialog is a bit rushed, but sometimes it works for the situation. There, that wasn't too bad, was it? :)
The funny thing is that I must be carrying my impression of the characters into the story, because despite the very dark portrayals of Duo and Heero, I find myself wanting to find some kind of redemption for them. Yes, for both of them. Duo's past has a lot to do with why he's the way he is, and his association with Heero hasn't helped. As for Heero, he makes a delightfully cold-hearted single-minded predator...and yet I still expect to see something HUMAN in him!
There are little bits that help show the character's inner demons, and I think that you've done well with Duo over all these chapters. His downright hatred for Wufei's mother, the abuse he suffered at the hands of his father, make for a believable motivation for him to act as despicably as he does towards Wufei.
There are occasional touches of humor, such as Zechs' complaint about knowing that Quatre fathered a child in the traditional sense - an image he didn't need in his head. Very realistic, too.
So even though I have this tiny bit of hope for even Heero to have some humanity, and that may be very unlikely as I don't know where the story will go, and he hasn't done much at all to show any signs of remorse, there was that scene where Duo tried to actually cuddle with him afterwards, and Heero let him for, OK, a couple of nanoseconds, that make me think that not even the "bad guys" can be 100% evil.
I find small things like this really make a story. The fact that I am wondering about the characters and what makes them tick is the sign of a story that has really captured your audience. And granted, my hope for a redeemed Heero in the future is most likely misplaced, but I really feel deeply for Duo, who is truly a victim himself, even though his violence towards Wufei is simply awful.
It's great that things aren't suddenly hunky-dory, too, because there is such a long standing cycle of abuse for Duo and Wufei. I was shocked at the confrontation between Heero and Duo. Bad Heero! Heh. I can't help it, I'm still waiting for something to start affecting him in ways that have nothing to do with his libido!
Sorry for rambling, but I am trying to review the whole dang thing, and as I said, I really am wondering about things like Quatre's current relationship as well as what really kept Heero with Duo for so many years. At first I thought it was the money, with the sex being secondary, but that stupid part of me that tries to see the good in him (again, not necessarily present, but I'd like to think so, naive fool that I am) expects something more.
I am of course not telling you how to portray your characters in any way, and if you find it works best to keep him the cold evil bastard, that's fine, too. As I have said already, the fact that I want to know why he's this way is enough. The dangers of using pre-existing characters, though, eh? I could actually see his behavior focus in a destructive manner, given his rather intense personality in the series.
Am I making any sense, or have I completely lost you?
Perhaps this is a good time to summarize.

Hi there! I read all 14 chapters before rating this fic so here's my overall view. The idea is really original. Makes me want to actually go and comfort poor Wufei so i guess that means a great deal. Having him living with Zechs is great too since they've never been that close in the series. Also making Duo so much more mature yet stupid ripped at my emotions. He's my favourite character in the series. I hope that you do finish this fic before you leave, or I will go mad with waiting for you to finish. You are wrong though, just thought I would let you know that your story get BETTER with every chapter, not worse. This is quite a good story and I want to know what is going to happen next cause I have been following this story for a very long time and I intend to see the end of it, no matter how long it takes. Even if it takes 10 years. When I start reading a good story (and believe me yours qualifies) I can't stop until I know a happy ending has taken place and the characters will be safe and happy in their lover's arms.

I am so glad you updated again and I am sorry that I didn't e-mail again. I have been very busy since Softball started up for me. I like what is happening with the plot but what is going to happen now that Duo is home and Heero is going to tell him what happened. AAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! I hope that Trowa kicks his ass. That would be interesting for the storyline. By the way I think it is Lucrezia Noin if that is how you spell
it. I remember since I have all the videos on DVD
and they used that as her first name. I love the new chapter and I hope that you update again. If you have another writer's block come to me and I will try to help out.

Wow, what a fic. I have to say, Heero and Duo are scaring the heck out of me. I have never seen Duo acting so malicious. And poor Wu-baby...I can't imagine him accepting abuse for so long like that. I would think he would have tried to escape from Duo after their father died. ::shrugs:: But I don't know.
