Birth control in the 1500s...hmmm...probably herbal stuff. My knowledge of Japanese herbalism is for crap though, so don't quote me on that. And most herbal birth control is essentially abortion. It's usually a tea made with a poisonous plant (pennyroyal, for instantce, though I've heard nasty rumours that it doesn't work so well). Basically you're poisoning in the fetus and the uterus then rejects it. But anyway...your story's great. Sorry for the crash course on herbalism. Write more dammit!

I like this. It's interresting to see a fic where he doesn't claim her right away. One that shows his hesitations and worries, and where they actually discuss the matter before going through with it. As for older methods of birth control. I have only ever heard of one: It involves lemon juice and a sponge. The sponge is soaked in tonnes of lemon juice and strategically placed up inside of the female. It's said to be very effective. (not to mention gives a whole new appreciation to lemons for the couple...) X

You know, I really can't criticize your story at all, you're doing really well with it, however I can crticize your lack of updates. This is a great story, and you should really continue with it.
