I have something more to the point to say, however. I look forward to this the same way I look forward to the manifestations of the much-whispered-about Battle Angel live action movie. That is, with a blend of anticipation and dread. I'm very curious to see how it turns out, but having read up to Last Order #2 and seen a few seasons of Ranma, I'd say Ranma might be on part with Ajakutty for skill--that is, he might hold a candle to Alita if he had a combat body and she didn't take him seriously--but he's not Alita, and he's not Sechs. He doesn't have the same fiery spirit, he doesn't have anywhere NEAR her combat sophistication, and from what I've seen, the kind of "chi" in his setting is flashier but nowhere near as useful. Likewise, while I ADORE Bubblegum Crisis, especially 2032, and I find the hardsuits very cool and all, even in her Soft Machine Body, Alita would rip the Knight Sabers apart alone or en masse, if she was really on her game (like when she went after Nova, for example, or especially when she fought Sechs in Last Order; not when she fought AR2, since that was just kind of sad). Up until she gets the Imaginos body, Alita's greatest weakness against other anime characters is her lack of energy weapons. With the Imaginos body's plasmafausts, disgusting speed, absurd strength and phenomenal stamina all on top of her skill and instincts, I have no question she'd crush nine out of ten combat characters. DBZ characters might win because they can blow up planets, or something, but I've always found Battle Angel a few hundred times more interesting as a series, personally. Anyway. To summarize, I'm curious to see where this is going. I fear it, because I don't know how it can turn out well, but I look forward to being surprised. It's happened before (when I read Last Order... I hope book 3 comes out soon!!!! @.@ ), and I hope it happens again. You promise to writing, and I promise to keep being blunt and longwinded! And maybe I'll get around to my own BAA fic, someday....

This is really good! You not only gave Alita the correct personality, you hit Dr. Nova's maniacal simulacrum self dead on! Now, if you'd only give us the Ranma section soon, and maybe the BGC tie in as well, you'll really be off to a running start!
