More like 8.5. Now, while I'm a Lina/Zel shipper I think this was just a tad forced. To me, since there are no actual in your face couplings in the show, any sort of coupling fic from the Slayers series should have more time and depth to it. I guess, I just can't see Lina Inverse suddenly blurting out she loves anyone, especially to someone like Zel, knowing what he's more likely to do with her words.
However, I do like the way you had it end. I just think, next time you want to do something like this, you should give it more of a background story first, and you really can't ignore Amelia's presense, regardless. It's obvious she does have feelings for him, and they are considered the canon coupling...it's different if you have a series of stories set up in their own little universe, but when it's a one shot like this you have to give it more substance.
