*sniffle* Simple, yet ... heartfelt. Granted, the format was ... just a giant paragraph, but what's important is CONTENT.
When I started reading, I couldn't believe it at first. I mean ... Melfina NOT in love w/ Gene!? There's no way ... but then I saw-no, FELT it. Simple sadness after a not so simple loss. Such a vivid simplicity of pain.
When Jim came on the scene ... what was that hesitation? '"Mel, wha-what happened? He didn’t-did he?"' Didn't WHAT!! Don't tell me that Gene's turned into some drunk sadistic bastard!! For Mel's sake, I hope ...
In her mournful state, Mel sang. The song ... that beautiful song, Hiru no Tsuki... yes, the "Cartoon Network" version is good too! ^_^ I remember the scene ... Harry ... asked her to sing it again. And just before he died ... he told Gene to ask her to sing it JUST one more time ... for him. God, I remember the tears falling, then. So sad. I wonder ... DID Gene ever have Mel sing the song? Did she refuse? Did he get suspicious?
But in this fic, Mel sang for Harry. Maybe he could hear her. *shrugs* Who knows. If he did, then I'm sure he's thinking the same thing. Her lonely, melodious words ended prematurely. Hn. Funny .. end of the song was "'si-'lent." That's how she has to be, when Gene returns. At least, that's what she believes. But maybe oneday she won't be. Maybe if HARRY could tell her ... but then ... she's still waiting ... and maybe if she HAD ended the song/verse ... THEN she would have her answer. Maybe she'll know one day.

Write more (maybe a sequel!? *hint hint*;)... you've got the heart!! : )

[1] OK, you caught me. The English version might not match the original Japanse lyrics ... but who really cares!!! *sigh* Well, some might. So, here's the Americanized version Mel sang on Cartoon Network.
