I guess I'm the opposite of you; I like Kagome more than Kikyou, but I still like the both of them. The truth is, I dislike Kikyou haters just as much as Kagome haters. Besides the love triangle issue, the only reason Kikyou haters hate Kikyou is because she's a "bitch" and the only reason Kagome haters hate Kagome is because she's an "immature brat". I mean, these aren't even logical arguments. Kikyou is a kind and gentle person, as demonstrated when she provides assistance to villages and is loved by all the children. She also helps that old man bandit attempt to find peace by burying his hair at the foot of Hakureizan. I dunno, but that doesn't really qualify as "bitch material".. On the other hand, Kagome is faintly new at battling monsters, so of course, she's not going to be much help in a battle, and of course she's going to need to be saved constantly. And while Inuyasha's the muscle, Kagome's always the brains in a fight..she's clever at getting out of situations by herself, and is a purely unselfish person. She helps that little ghost girl find her way to Heaven, and can't even bring herself to hate Kikyou even though she loves Inuyasha. I mean, Naraku's baby couldn't even find a speck of negative emotion inside of her until he discovered the sadness regarding Inu/Kik.. So yeah, I have a preference to Kagome but only because we don't know that much about Kikyou's character, other than she's sad and angsty..
