You did a wonderful job capturing first the innocence of a child and then feeling of being trapped. It was interesting seeing someone looking in awe and wonder at what people see as being mundane. While the description early in the fict seemed simplistic, it helped showed the thoughts of a young child who has never seen things like grass before. Now someone might cry foul at Shikai for being a 'Mary Sue,' in that she's was seemingly added to events just to be a potential romantic interset for Hiei; however, you had her display necessary flaws and didn't do anything between her and Hiei that was truly romantic in nature. Which it is certainly a good thing. Hiei remaining Hiei in the face of 'new female character' is definately a plus.
