love your story. one thing: ♦the OVA 'seisohen' (samuraiX reflections) is an abomination and a blight to the whole concept, principle, ideals and moral of the 'rurouni kenshin' series. ♣ other than that, this is a wonderful story and i certainly hope you're still writing out there somewhere. ♠ i drew some golden eyes and i figured i would share as you have seen fit to share such a wonderful story, the product of an amazing imagination: kokoronagomu.deviantart.com/art/hitokiri-battousai-100327546 ♥ thank you, ginny

You're a good writer and you've inspired me in my writing. I've written about 20 fanfic stories so far and I still suck. ^_^ Instead of nit-picking, I look at the whole of the story ~ how engaged I was, the flow, the ideas and characterization, and I really like this story. I'm looking forward to reading more, which is rare when I'm out reading fanfiction. I hope your original work goes well! Arigato! ^_^ P.S. Be aware of people who will say rotten things to you out of jealousy. They're definitely out there!

After wandering the internet in search of decent RK fics, I came to MediaMiner and found "A New Light." At first, I was worried by the fact that you said you had never before written fanfiction, but I went ahead and read it anyway and was pleasantly surprisec by the quality of writing and the justice done to the original RK as well as Japanese culture. It's those little thngs that make reading enjoyable. My only complaint is the over-use of japanese in the dialogue. I understand and approve of the use of the original Japanese when a translation will not do or simply does not exist(IE - "oro"), but things that can be translated should be (IE - "aishiteru," "sesshin," & "arigatou").

It is a very good fanfic, for the nine months of pregenency between Kenshin and Kaoru, and all of the Kenshingumi. I can't give 10s, I haven't rated a fanfic before, but it's rather appealing and funny to read at times. Sometimes, I think childbirth would be the most painful thing ever... Good job!

This story was one of the first RK fanfics that I was fortunate enough to read on FF.net. I must say that your stories together with Tae's aka as Yumi Komagata got me hooked on RK fanfic. Thus, it was a great surprise to see this story posted . I loved every chapter of the fic and I am quite disappointed that you have decided to discontinue writting. I was looking forward to reading the continuation of the sequel to "The Giant and the Lion". (I am not quite sure if I got the title right, but I hope you know what I am referring to hehehehe) It is very rare to get the previledge to read quality RK fanfics now a days, which is very, very SAD!!!!! So, I would like to thank you for sharing this story once more, take care!!!!

Style of Writing- Your style is quite good. It is easy to read and understand; yet it seems a tad overly so. There seems to be little foreshadowing in your writing and you answer the major questions in the beginning of each chapter leaving little room for you to maneuver towards the end. That being said, I was completely amazed by your obvious talent for descriptive passages. It makes the writing flow so beautifully. So much so that the previous things mentioned really don't matter as much.
Spelling and Grammar - It is enjoyable to read a story with a varied sentence structure as yours, but remember simple sentences are alright as well. Very impressive spelling.
Originality/ Creativity- Even though it is a story line done to death, you manage to bring realism to pregnancy, birthing a child, and the arguments married couples eventually encounter. The ability to weave in personal experiences into one's work, make a fan-fiction so much more enjoyable...Which leads to topic number four
Enjoyment Factor- As I was saying, the integration of experiences that are personal really enhances the overall feel for a story.
Overall Rating- Overall, the work is crafted well and has a good rhythm of movement in the character development department. Your use of Kenshin's double nature (the Battousai) as an enhancement to better understand the emotions Kenshin experienced, instead of a character flaw is really refreshing. Great job and I hope to see more from you in the future.

This is a very lovely fic to breach the gap between the end of the tv series and the Seisouhen oav. I love the realism you're bringing into it, especially since you're drawing from your own experiences with pregnancy and childbirth. Without being gory or overly romanticizing it, the birth of their child is beautifully written. The character interactions are great and you have managed to capture the essence of the family that they are.

Just a few observations/suggestions:

Kaoru's name is spelled "Kaoru". (Chapters 1 & 2 spell it as "Karou" and the rest of the chapters fluxuate)

If you're having Kenshin use the Japanese term of "beloved", it is spelled "koishii", not "kioshii".

In Ch. 2, there was one line where Kenshin calls Kaoru "Miss Kaoru" instead of "Kaoru dono", which he's being doing up to, and for a while after that part. Not sure if you meant it that way. Also, as expressed in Seisouhen, Kenshin continues to address Kaoru as "Kaoru dono" even years after their marriage.

In Ch.3, Megumi also calls Kaoru "Miss Kaoru". Megumi addresses Kaoru in 3 ways only: "Kaoru-chan", "Kaoru", and "tanuki musume" (raccoon girl).

I was just curious as to the type of wedding ceremony you ended up having them perform in Ch. 6. It doesn't sound like the traditional Japanese/Shinto wedding as they would have been sitting in senzu style and all their close friends would be invited to watch. Did they go through a civil ceremony such as in the western style, and if so, was it offered back then? I don't know if they had that set up and available yet.

I look forward to more chapters. :)

That was good! I do have one question - why is it rated R? There wasn't anything in my opinion that would make it R. [shrug] I hope you write more stories.

THey say that as soon as a woman gives birth there's a chemical in her body that starts to erase most of her memory of the pain in the experience... Or something like that.
Yeah, I liked this story too.

Overall this was an enjoyable read, if decidedly generic (the beginning was slow for me.) Once you've evolved past a few minor cliches, your writing will be an absolute pleasure. I loved some of your illiterations. Keep up the good work!
P.S. Read my fan fic PLEASE, I'm new!

Straight 10's! Seems a tad unrealistic (the 10's I mean), but oh well. I'm in a 10-giving mood. Especially after reading this.

I for one don't mind the "slight altercations"! I really hope you continue. Then again, I still have three chapters up for me to read!

I really like this story, how it contained a lil of everything, though I wish there was a lil more humour in it. Great job.
