Long enough that I thought my account had expired. Enough of that though... On with the pic. The character depicted is the lead in a book I'm currently working on. Reviewed By: Fanilia [MediaMiner Member] On: September 05, 2006 13:28 Comment/Review: If you didn't get your question on your gallery answered, drop me a line. She is a very strong looking character, I like how her shoulders, the width and the way she holds them, hint that she is a warrior. The scars look really good (does one describe scars as good?) The only thing tha tis off to me is the zig zag stitching on the wound on her side. Overall, well done and welcome back!~Fanilia

Comment/Review: Ojamashimasu! Woi, dig her scars! XD I like the way you used shading to sculpt her body. I think you could also take it to the next step, and add in yet a third shade to add more definition. You could definitely do it. One last thing to nitpick is that her head is quite smaller in proportion to her body. But, aaah, I want more scars, too. XD Lots of love and chocolate! ~Sada-chan

Comment/Review: You are definitely developing a good sense of shading and highlighting to denote changes in texture and curvature. The scars and curves of her body are coming out very well. As far as the overall picture goes, there are a few problems in the structure; her face is at too sharp of an angle to the rest of her body (achieving a profile shot like that without twisting the neck painfully is very nearly impossible, and the neck isn't indicated as having twisted enough for that angle) and the line art defining her upper arms shows muscles that are too choppy even for a well-built figure. Even in super defined muscles, the lines are curves rather than sharp corners. You have a good start on the highlighting for the hair, but it is rather bold in comparison to the highlighting on the skin and clothing. The light intensity isn't going to change from the same source, so you'll want to work on making sure that the intensity reflected in the hair is the same as what's reflected in the rest of the image. Overall, you have a great start and the technique is definitely showing development - keep up the good work.

Since this is your first time shading, it's really awesome. Just keep honing your skills in shading and you'll be much better a year from now, trust me, you will! I like her expression on her face, it shows off the 'warrioress' in her. The hairdo looks really cool. Overall, I really like how you put so many details without going overboard. Nice job!
