"You know you can't keep her drugged forever," the Cat sang merrily. A hand shot out and grabbed his invisible throat.
"I can do as I please. The Queen has given me free reign over Alice's body and mind." The Caterpillar licked her lips at this. "And I will so enjoy tasting both."

Alice walked over to the door and held the knife behind her back. She peered down the stairs at the Caterpillar. "Mr. Caterpillar..." she called. She looked at the smiling cat. "Is Mr. Cat to join our talk?" She started down the steps slowly. Her eyes locked on the Cheshire Cat's.

The Caterpillar released the Cat. She had not ordered Alice to come back down. More of her spores swarmed around Alice as she smiled. "No, he was just leaving. His master his calling him."

The Cheshire cat rolled his eyes. "Here's a knife. Here's a gun. It'll be fun for everyone," he chuckled as he disappeared.

"Mr. Cat has no master," Alice replied while she coughed. Her hand waved the smoke away and she glared at the Caterpillar. "It's not nice to blow smoke in someone's face."

"That's not smoke my dear. This is smoke." As she exhaled, a thick mist of tobacco smoke blanketed Alice, obscuring her vision as the Caterpillar brought out another syringe.

Alice swung her blade as she was blinded. Something connected and a warm liquid hit her face. She waved her hand to clear the smoke and looked around. At her feet was the Caterpillar's hand and the syringe. Alice's fingers went to her face as she listened to the Caterpillar scream. She turned her cheek then looked at her fingers, shocked to see red blood from the Caterpillar covering them.

The Caterpillar screamed in agony, blood streaming from her nub. Her wings extended, sending a strung gust of wind which knocked Alice to the ground. "I tried to play nice. I wanted to keep you all for myself. Well no more!" Spores encircled Alice while the Caterpillar took to the air.

Alice dashed to her feet and ran from the stair to the other side of the room. "I belong to no one but the Mad Hatter!" she snapped. "Where is the White Queen!?"

"She is somewhere you cannot reach," the Caterpillar spat. "You will never free her. The Hatter, your knight, your guardian....he is dead!"

Alice's heart stopped. Tear clouded her eyes. "You're lying! He isn't dead!" she screamed. "You're a liar!"

"Oh, I may be many things but I am no liar." She smirked, taking a deep breath she swooped toward Alice. Something erupted from her throat, but this time it wasn't smoke. It was a silky substance, which instantly began to bind Alice's limbs to the wall. It was her cocoon of sorts. She was going to cocoon Alice. Once she had Alice's hands and feet bound, she smirked. "He suffocated on my spores and now he is no more."

Alice's knife was dropped from her hand as she was bound. She shook her head furiously. "No! No! No!" she yelled. "It isn't true! He isn't dead!" She fought against the silk, trying to free herself, but the hold on her was much too strong.

"Oh, but he is. I'm so sorry, Alice, but I had to. He had to die so that I could have you all to myself." She leaned forward and kissed Alice, forcing her lips open so that she could blow her spores into her mouth.

Alice tried to fight, but she could barely move. In the back of her mind, she could feel herself slipping and yet somewhere deep inside her, she could feel the ten year old version of herself yelling for Alice to fight harder, to try harder, to want it badly enough. Alice opened her mouth and bit hard on the Caterpillar's lips, tasting blood in her mouth and feeling it over flow, running down her chin and chest while staining her white dress.

The Caterpillar's eyes widened. She slammed her hand into Alice's stomach, breaking her grip on her mouth. The Caterpillar screamed in pain as blood flowed from her lips. "What a naughty girl," she spat! "You will pay dearly for that!" Picking up Alice's knife, she trailed it over her flesh and smiled as the blood that appeared. "Just because I can't kill you doesn't mean I can't break you."

"Hey!" There was a whistling sound as black hat twirled through the silk. Its rim seemed to be bladed, because it cut through the cocoon strands with ease as it arched back up into the air. A hand reached out to grab it. Twirling it on his fingers the Mad Hatter placed it on his head as he swung from the chandelier over head. "Hands of my girl!"

Alice body ached and yet she found a reason to smile. "Mr. Hatter! I knew you weren't dead!"

He winked at her and blew her a kiss. "Me? Never!"

The Caterpillar turned to him, Alice's knife trembling in her hands. "I will kill you!"

With Alice now free, she was able to lung at the Caterpillar. The first thing she did was pull hard on the wings until they ripped from the Caterpillar's body. The force and strength from the pull made Alice fall back and slide to the ground. She threw the wings away in discus.

The Caterpillar's back arched as she screamed in pure and utter agony. She tried to clutch her back, but she couldn't get her arms back far enough. Turning to Alice, her eyes were mad with rage. "I took care of you. I offered you everything you ever desired! This is how you repay me? Your parents are dead because you, you ungrateful little twerp! You don't deserve to live!"

Alice's eyes widened. "You don't know anything! You have no idea what it's like to be me!" she screamed. Again, she lunged at her and tackled her on the ground. Crawling over the Caterpillar, Alice began punching her in the face over and over. The knife had flown from the Caterpillar's hands and her blood was covering the floors and Alice. "You weren't there for anything! You never cared! You never listened! You don't know me!" she screamed in rage as her fists connected with the Caterpillar's face over and over again.

"Don't I?" Blood escaped her lips as her spores entered Alice's mouth and nose, filling her with images of the fire. Her ears echoed with her parents’ screams and pleas.

Alice covered her ears. "Stop it! Stop it!" she screeched. Grabbing the knife off the floor, she began stabbing the Caterpillar's chest. "You don't know me! You don't know me!" she yelled as she cried and ran the knife in the Caterpillar's chest, watching the life leave her.

The Hatter's hand reached out and caught her as she was about to plunge the knife into the Caterpillar's chest once more. "She knows you, Alice," he whispered. "We all do." Taking the knife from her hand, he pulled her up into his arms.

Alice screamed and cried against his chest. Even with a clear mind she couldn't understand why she hurt so much over people she didn't remember. And as she cried on him, her heart ached knowing that she of all people really didn't know herself. She was lost. Her whole body was covered in blood and she felt like it should be hers. She should be the one that was dead. She should be the one to suffer.

"There, there sweetheart. Let it out," he said as he stroked her hair while she cried against him. "It's nothing that tea can't fix."

She stopped for a moment when he said that. Looking up at him, she had to laugh. She laughed so hard, more tears began to pour from her. "Tea!" she yelled with laughter. "Tea!" It was so funny. How could his mind be so simple when hers was falling apart? But it was exactly what she needed in all the madness...laughter. Now she really did feel crazy. She stood and wiped her eyes while still laughing slightly. "We have to get the White Queen. Where is the White Rabbit?"

"He's asleep outside beneath a spider's web," he smirked. Taking her hand, he bent down and handed her the knife before pulling her along toward the tower. Looking up, he frowned as he pointed to the very top. "That is where the White Queen is. We'd have to be able to fly to get to her."

Alice looked at the wings on the ground and the silk. She looked at the Hatter. "I have an idea," she said.

Moment's later, the Hatter was tying the wings to Alice's arms with the silk. "I hope this works."

"Probably not, but at least you look pretty weird," he told her.

"Shut up," she smirked. Moving forward a bit, she began to flap her arms like a bird. At first, nothing happened so she flapped harder. Finally her feet came off the ground and she smiled. "You just have to have faith, Mr. Hatter!" she called as she lifted higher. She was going to reach the top no matter what.

"I have faith that I can see up your dress." He whistled at the view.

Alice blushed. "Now is not the time!" she called. She got all the way to the top and landed on a door step. She had to peel the wings off just so she could open it. "Hope you will catch me when I come down!" she called to the Hatter then opened the door. "White Queen?"

"Take off the dress and I'll think about catching you," he chuckled.

Alice rolled her eyes as she heard him call to her. She stepped in the door and looked at the room. There wasn't much to see. In fact, it was an empty room with only one window. Standing at it was a beautiful young woman wearing all white. Her silver hair glistened even in the shadows. Her red lips formed a smile as she saw Alice. Stepping to her, the White Queen's dress lightly drug the ground. Her sparkling crown was almost blinding.

"Alice, you have come at last," she said. Her voice was a beautiful as bells. Alice had never seen anymore so beautiful. Though she was the Red Queen's twin, she always felt that the White Queen always was so much more beautiful.

"Had I known you were locked away I would have come sooner," she said and bowed. She looked at her blood stained dress. "Forgive me...I'm not dressed properly."

The Queen shook her head. "Such little things do not matter now," she said. She moved only feet from Alice and ran her finger through Alice's hair. "Innocent, sweet, lovely Alice. Your heart and head are like battle grounds. Let me help you light the way to the end."

Alice's eyes closed as the Queen's lips lightly pressed to her forehead. A strange but wonderful calmness came over her and she took a deep breath. Her mind seemed to open and silent tears began to fall from her eyes. Memories of everything she had once forgotten came rushing into her like waves on a beach. The faces of her parents and their laughs and smiled poured into her brain. She smiled as she could recall everything she had loved about them so much. Her heart never seemed to feel so full.

The White Queen pulled back with a smiled. "There. Now you can remember what you once lost." Alice slowly opened her eyes. Her outfit had changed back to her shirt and button up ruffle shirt. Her top hat rested on the side of her head as she took the Queen's hands. All the blood on Alice seemed to disappear and the pain was gone. "I'm free now. I can't thank you enough. But your job isn't done yet. Go...finish what you started so you can go back to where you belong."

Alice wanted her to stay but she didn't even have time to thank her before her body began to glow. Alice shielded her eyes as the light blinded her. When it was over, the Queen was gone and Alice was alone. Slowly, she walked out of the door and stared down at the Hatter. "Will you catch me?"

The Hatter looked up at her. Sighing, he held his arms up. "You're still dressed, but I guess I shall make an exception."

Alice turned around and fell back. Her heart picked up and she closed her eyes, awaiting his arms.

His arms wrapped around her as she fell back into his chest. He fell as well, landing on his back, a human cushion for her fall. "I got another good look," he smirked.

She smirked and stood then helped him stand. "You are so impossible sometimes." She walked out of the tower and looked around. "Oh dear!" she cried and rushed over to the White Rabbit just as a large spider was about to have the sleeping thing for dinner. She scooped him up and glared at the Hatter. "I thought you were joking! Stop torturing him!"

The White Rabbit moaned as Alice picked him up. "I was sleeping, Alice," he yawned against her.

The Hatter chuckled, rolling his eyes. "He deserved it for falling asleep."

Alice glared harder at the Mad Hatter. "If he is missing one hair on his head at any time I will behead you!" she threatened as she loved on the White Rabbit.

He shook his head. "No you won't." Moving to where the Rabbit had been, he sat down. Taking off his hat, he pulled out a tiny table and a tiny glass of tea and put it on the spider's web. "You'd miss me too much."

"Alice?" The White Rabbit nuzzled her neck, his ears tickling her as he curled up against her. "Did you teach the Caterpillar his lesson?"

Alice looked back at the tower. "Yes, Mr. Rabbit..." she said sadly. "I did..." She smiled at him. "Let's not speak of it. We should celebrate with tea and cake!"

"And grown up things! Don't forget grown up things!"

Matthew groaned as he rubbed his temple. His head hurt. Despite all the medicine he was taking it still hurt. It was a throbbing pain which threatened his sanity at the moment. Pushing open Alice's door, he noticed that she was sleeping. Going over to her, he poked her. "Alice," he yawned. He noticed that his feet were crunching on something. Looking down, it seemed like it was glass.

"Alice. Wake up."

Alice looked at the Hatter. "Did you say something?" she asked. "Tell me to wake up?" She walked over to him and put the White Rabbit down. The things around her began to fade. "No!" she cried. Reaching out she clung to the Hatter. "Not yet! I'm not ready!"

But it was already set. She closed her eyes only for a second and when they opened she was looking at Matthew. Instantly she winced and sat up. She moved the blanket from her and looked down at herself. She was covered in food and glass and her arm was scratched up from the glass. There were pieces of glass still in her skin.

"What did you do to yourself?" Matthew asked as he looked at her arms. Sighing, he set down his notebook and started for her door. "I'll go get something to clean you up."

She sat nothing but stood then instantly regretted it when she stepped in glass. Quickly she got back on the bed and took off her hospital gown. She started to wipe herself with it, getting the food off and digging out some of the glass.

He left to get the first aid kit. Returning a few minutes later, he stopped when he realized her gown was off. Taking a deep breath, he walked toward her and sat down beside her. "Give me your arms," he said as he took out a pair of tweezers.

Alice covered her chest with the blanket and placed her arm in his hand. "How did I get on my bed? Did you move me?"

"No. I just came in a few minutes ago," he told her. As the tweezers pulled the glass out, he smirked. "You're not covering anything that I haven't seen and touched many times before."

She ignored his comment. Someone had moved her. Maybe Mr. Cat? But he only comes to bring her food and medication. She isn't on any medication and he already brought her food...who was there? She glanced at him. "I ate a cookie that said 'Eat me.'"

He quirked an eyebrow at her. "Okay?" Once he had all the glass out, he began to bandage up her arms. "So you ate the cookie and then what?"

She gestured to the ground. "Are you really that slow?"

"I am just curious how you ended up on your bed if you collapsed after eating the cookie."

"I didn't eat the whole thing," she said. "But I know I blacked out....and ended up in Wonderland. Someone was here and cleaned the tray. The food and the cookie is gone. Someone put me in the bed. If it was a nurse, I would have been bandaged. And it wasn't you, so your guess is just as good as mine." She threw her dirty hospital gown on the floor and pulled her arm from her after her finished getting out the glass. She ran her hand over it and handed it back to him to bandage. "I didn't wake up with throat pain so I assume you didn't flush my system which means that whatever was in the cookie only had a small dose..."

"So you went back to Wonderland? What happened there?"

She smiled at him. "I killed a drug dosing Caterpillar and got my memory back from the White Queen. I also rescued the White Rabbit." Her smile faded and she looked out the window. "The Caterpillar had the face of my aunt...I kind of went a little stab crazy." She pushed her hair from her face and looked back at him. "I made love to the Mad Hatter."
