Breathe Again
~Chapter 3: Determination~

Grieving for you,
I'm not grieving for you,
nothing real love can't undo,
and though I may have lost my way,
all paths lead straight to you…

Katara hummed to herself as she turned the corner leading to the Jasmine Dragon, she had made sure to be a few minutes early so she could have some time to talk with Jin, and she wasn't sure if Suki and whoever was with her would be there on time. She was slightly surprised when she entered and saw nothing of the somewhat obnoxious waitress.

“Jin isn't here today.” Zuko said in a flat voice, moving to his next table. Katara glared at him slightly, “Nice to see you too, Lee.” She growled walking over and taking her usual seat. He raised an eyebrow at her curiously, “You're staying?” He asked somewhat sheepishly, Katara nodded. “Some friends of mine are meeting me here, why? Did you want this seat?” She said sarcastically, he shook his head and quickly fetched the tea she always ordered.

`Great…. She's brought her little posse with her this time, just what I needed! Even if she didn't realize who I was, one of them is sure to figure it out… Dammit.' He thought to himself as he poured the hot brew for her, “Is it the Avatar? It would be an honor to meet him.” He lied coolly; Katara blew on her tea and answered without making eye contact. “No, some other friends of mine… They should be here any minute now.” He nodded and tried to act disappointed, “Oh well maybe some other time then.” He said, heading off to more of the costumers.

Katara raised her eyes to the door as three young women entered, all of them in the Kyoshi warrior garb, but none of them were Suki. She could tell that from where she sat, even though she didn't recognize them completely she felt as though she had seen them somewhere before. “Ah, it's been a while… Katara.” The one in front, obviously the leader said as she approached the table.

After they were seated Katara began to speak, “Do I know you?” She asked slowly, the eyes of the leader danced with mirth. “Oh yes, you know us pretty well… Ty Lee, freshen her memory.” The young woman next to Katara mouthed sorry before quickly jabbing her in her right upper arm, Katara's eyes widened in a mixture of pain and shock. “No… It can't be…” She gasped, staring into the laughing eyes of Zuko's younger sister.
“Why not? Heh, in any case let us have some tea and then we'll go for a little walk…” Azula said with a cruel and vindictive smile, “Waiter! Your best tea, I want it now!” Zuko's eyes widened as his sister's voice rang out through the shop, causing him to almost drop his platter. He shot a glance at the table it had come from as he returned from the kitchen, his fears were confirmed, and it had come form the water peasant's table.

“Here you are ladies, is everything okay for you so far, miss?” He asked Katara his eyes locked with hers for a split second, fear was written all over her face, but she nodded slowly and took another sip as if to show him she was certain. Azula glanced up at him, “How much will this be? We won't be staying long so I might as well pay now, and it had better not be too high, or you'll regret it.”

“… That will come out to two silver pieces, ma'am.” He said quietly his hand outstretched, Azula grumbled something under her breathe and practically threw the money at him. “Be gone! You filthy wretch, cheating people out of their money for this garbage!” She growled, “I don't like this place finish the shit water and let's get the hell out of here.” She hissed having taken note that most of the costumers where watching their table now, she then shot a side glance at Katara. “You'd better be quiet if you know what's good for you, because if you make a scene… I will kill you slowly after I make you watch everyone in this shit whole burn to death, and it will be all your fault.”

Katara nodded to show that she understood, she didn't care as much about what happened to her, but she could never forgive herself if all of these innocent people were killed because she did not cooperate with the hot headed Fire Princess. The three women whispered amongst themselves for the remainder of the time spent in the Jasmine Dragon, Katara did not bother to listen to their ceaseless drabble because she was too busy trying to formulate a plan of escape once they were out of the tea shop.

She was jerked from her thoughts as Azula pulled her up right, “Come on Katara, time to go shopping!” She said in mock enthusiasm, Katara nodded and followed them in silence her chest tightening in fear, how could she fight off these women? Azula was enough to keep her entire gang and Zuko and his uncle at bay let alone the gymnast and the creepy Goth girl. And on top of all this, her left arm was still limp at her side which meant she wouldn't be able to bend, and even though the feeling was starting to return to the limb she doubted it would be much help.

Zuko watched as the small group of girl's rose from their table, his sister grabbing the water tribe girl from her seat cruelly and making a statement so that everyone else in the Jasmine Dragon could hear it, he felt bile welling up in his throat. He hated his sister, and he still wasn't completely fond of the Avatar's female friend but no one deserved a fate at Azula's sadistic hands. He snuck back in to the apartment section of their teahouse, “Uncle… I will need my Dao blades… It would seem Azula is in Ba Sing Se as well…” Iroh nodded seeing his nephew's determined expression, “Do what you need to do, just come back alive, Prince Zuko.”
