Surprisingly Rei had yet to unexpectedly run into Kai. He had been living in the Russian palace for nearly a week now and the only times he ever saw the prince was during meal times when they were all expected to dine together anyway.

During the day as per the requirement of marrying into the Russian family, he had to study. He had to speak fluent Russian so everyday he was escorted to a classroom where he would be taught remedial Russian. After his language class, he would be expected to sit with the women and join them for tea and embroidery, something he definitely did not excel at. During the first time, he stabbed his fingers and thumbs no more than seventy three times, his digits now covered in bandages. The women of the court were all snobby and looked down on him but despite it all, he had made a friend in a young girl named Mariam. She was the same age as him and giggled every time he stabbed his fingers, finally opting to help him with the needle and thread.

“You're really not very good at this are you?” She asks as she takes the needle off him for the seventh time, rethreading it for him.

Rei sighed and smiled at her. “Well we didn't exactly do this kind of thing back in China” He says as he takes the needle and thread back. He pushed it through the fabric and stabbed his finger again. “Shoot...that really hurts” He whined, earning a snotty glare from one of the elder women. He sucked on his finger and sighed when he noticed he had gotten blood on his embroidery again. “I guess I'll have to start over...” He held it up and pulled a face.

“Guess so...you can't present that as a favour to your prince...not covered with your blood anyway....here” She made up another embroidery set, placing a handkerchief into the small wooden circular frame and closing it up. “Try again...and this time, use a thimble”

Rei looked up and tilted his head. “What's a thimble?” He asks.

Mariam giggled and picked up a small steel cap and handed it to him. “This is a thimble...you wear them on your fingers so you don't accidentally hurt yourself when you're threading the needle through the fabric...like this” She placed it on her finger tip and showed it to him. “See...now when I sew, it doesn't stab my fingers”

His eyes widened as he looked to the small metal piece. “Why didn't you tell me about them sooner?” He asks with a pout.

“I wanted to see how long it would take you before you realised that we're all wearing them” She giggled, covering her mouth. “You look so cute when you fail...”Rei sighed. “You're a horrible person Mariam” He says, snatching the thimble out of her hand and placing it on his finger.

“I know...but you still love me and no take backs” She says with a laugh before picking up her embroidery and working on hers again. Hers was of a bouquet of flowers and looked amazing. All of Rei's failed ones had been of a red bird that was supposed to look like a Phoenix but had come out looking more like a chicken.

After embroidery and afternoon tea, he decided to take a walk around the gardens. He was lucky that it was relatively warm today...warm being that it wasn't below zero degrees. He looked at his hand and sighed, seeing all the band aids made him annoyed. 'Mariah would have picked up on this sewing crap easily...she always was the one who mended our outfits...' He thought as he kicked a small stone out of his path. His ears prickled when he heard the whistling of feathers in the air and a small thump. He walked ahead and looked out from behind a tree, seeing Kai standing with his back turned to him, a bow in his hands and quiver on his back. 'He's an archer?' He thinks as he watches the Russian prince draw an arrow, aim and fire it at a target. It split another arrow, already on the bull's eye, in half. He fired another arrow, hitting the other one right down the middle and continued this until he had done it five times in a row. 'What a show off...' He thought although deep down he was impressed with Kai's ability with a bow.

“I know you're there” He says without turning around. He drew another arrow and loaded up his bow before spinning around and firing it directly at Rei's head. He zipped past the Chinese boy and clipped the ribbon holding his hair up, the ebony locks cascading around his face and trailing down his body. He looked behind him and noticed the arrow stuck to a tree with the red ribbon dangling from it.

“That was cool...” He murmured before looking back to Kai. “But also incredibly dangerous you jerk” He snapped, stepping out from behind the tree with his hands on his hips.

Kai sighed and walked over to the tree, yanking the arrow out and handing the torn up ribbon back. “You think for a second that I didn't know what I was doing?” He asks, narrowing his eyes at Rei. “Trust me princess...had I wanted to hit you...I would have” He the walks back over to the target and pulls out another arrow, firing it once again in the bull's eye and splitting the others in half, making them fall to the ground.

“Even so...what if I moved?” He asks, walking forward as he tried to retie his hair which was now hanging in his eyes. He had to settle with a basic ponytail since he didn't know how to tie it in the elaborate fashion Ming had set up for him that morning.

“Like I said Princess...” He says in his usual arrogant tone, “If I wanted to kill you...I would have by now” He then looked over at Rei, seeing the fiery expression in his yellow eyes. He smirked and dropped his bow by his side before walking over to him. “You look cute when you're angry” He says, lifting Rei's chin with his gloved hand. Rei's eyes widened and he instantly tried to bite Kai's fingers, his teeth snapping at the digits. “Whoa...back down kitty” He grinned, taking his hand away before he lost a finger.

“I'm not a kitty” Rei growled, taking a step back and crossing his arms, his fake bosom lifting up under his chin now. “And if I had my way, I'd be taking the first carriage back to China...you're the last person on earth I'd want to marry”Kai narrowed his eyes. “Likewise...alas here we are” He stepped forward again, placing a hand on Rei's butt and pulling him forward so he was pinned to his chest. “And like it or not...you will be my wife after tomorrow's ceremony...so get over it princess” He then shoved Rei backwards before walking over to his bow and resuming his exercises.

Rei grit his teeth and turned around, storming off. 'I can't believe that guy...what a dick!' He thought angrily, silently cursing Lee and Mariah for putting him in this situation.

The next day was a very long one for Rei. The whole Royal family of the Russian kingdom turned up to witness his union to the Russian prince. He stood before the alter and they spoke their vows, ones he had been spending all week memorising before Kai placed the ring on his finger and he did the same. His heart actually thumped in his chest when the minister pronounced them man and wife and told Kai to 'kiss the bride'. Luckily Kai was a very private man, or so it seemed, and had kissed kissed his cheek instead. The skin burned on his cheek as his icy lips touched it for a brief second before they were allowed to leave the chapel together.

Now he was just sitting on his bed, still in his wedding dress and feeling like his future had been stolen away from him. He sighed heavily and looked at his lap, biting his bottom lip and trying to force himself not to cry as it wasn't considered 'manly' despite his pretending to be a woman. He looked up when he heard the door handle turning before the door separating his and Kai's room was opened. In walked his new husband, his cheeks a little pink and his eyes a little glazed. Kai walked over to Rei and stood in front of him, his shirt loose and a few buttons undone.

“So...you're now my wife” He says in a slightly slurred tone.

Rei looked up and bit his bottom lip before nodding, unable to muster up any words.

Kai smirked down at Rei and placed a hand on his hip. “Well...it's our wedding night...” He leaned forward and grabbed Rei's chin. “We should really consummate it...shouldn't we?” He smirks before leaning down further and kissing Rei's lips.

Rei's heart nearly stopped in his chest as his mind managed to put two and two together. Consummate meant...to have sex for the first time. His hands flew up and rested on the Russian's chest, pushing him backwards softly. “Do...you really want to...do that?” He asks, turning his head to the side and blushing a little. Kai smirked and sat down next to Rei on the bed, wrapping an arm around his shoulders and holding his own hand as he pulled Rei closer so he could kiss his lips easier. His grip was like iron and the Chinese boy was unable to push away, no matter how hard he tried. He felt a warm muscle run over his lips before forcing it's way into his mouth, hinted with a bitter taste of wine. He groaned and tried to pull away again, his heart beating heavily in his chest.

Kai broke the kiss and looked into Rei's stressed face. “Don't try and fight me...I'm your husband now...and you must do as I say” He growled, his hand turning to cup Rei's chin. 'And right now I want to have sex and forget this day ever happened' He thinks as he pulls Rei in for a third kiss, his now free hand groping the fake breast in his dress. 'Hmm...her breast feels a bit funny...' He thinks before pulling the front of the garment down. He froze when something heavy hit his lap and opened his eyes, looking down at the leather satchel of water.

Rei took a deep breath and closed his eyes, counting to ten in his head and trying to remain calm as the Russian prince looked up and noticed it had fallen from his bra. There was another leather satchel in the other cup which he pulled out and examined.

“These aren't breasts...what is going on here?” He asks with narrowed eyes before tearing the whole front of the dress off and seeing Rei's flat chest. Rei grabbed the front of the dress and pulled it up over his now naked chest, his face red.

“There's a good explanation for this” He says in a nervous way as the slate haired boy began examining him with a hawk's eye.

Kai growled and grabbed the edge of the dress, lifting it up so he could see what lay beneath. “What...that you're a boy?” He asks in a poisonous tone, seeing the bulge between Rei's legs. He stood up and narrowed his eyes at Rei.

“Listen to me...we had a girl...Mariah...she was supposed to be your wife...not me” He tried his best to explain in a short amount of time. “But she ran off and eloped the day she was supposed to leave for here...this wasn't my idea...” He looked way, feeling like crap. He was definitely going to be made a prisoner of war or even killed over this. “The crown prince sent me over instead...hoping we could fool you and your family...it was a stupid idea I know...but we had no other choice” He risked looking up at Kai, seeing the man look back down at him.

Kai had no idea what to think other than the fact that his marriage was technically moot. He sighed and sat down next to Rei, looking out the window. “We're not married...not technically anyway” He says in a grumpy tone. “To be honest, I was going to divorce you as soon my grandfather stepped down from the throne and I became king...” He looked to Rei. “It won't be for a few years...but if it means I won't be forced to marry some other annoying woman...I suppose you can remain my faux wife until then” He says in a grumpy tone. 'Not to mention if I announced to the kingdom that my current wife is a man, I'd be the laughing stock' He looked to Rei. “When I take the throne...if you can manage to fool everyone else, I'll happily annul the marriage and you can go...it won't be for a few years though”

Rei's eyes widened as he looked over Kai. “Are you...serious?” He asks.

The prince nodded. “I won't be telling anyone I married a man...do you know what that would do to my reputation? We'll be divorced and never speak of this again...”

Rei felt a small smile slide onto his face. He couldn't help but lean over and hug Kai lightly. “Thank you...” He says softly before sitting upright and looking out the window. “Guess I have to keep learning how to be a princess huh?”

“Yep” Kai says with a sigh before standing up. “You'll be required to do all the things that is expected of a wife. Attend tournaments with me...greeting the head of the guard. Go on horse rides around the kingdom...that kind of thing” He says. “If we're to make this work and fool everyone, you'll have to play your part right...don't mess it up or I will have you executed” He says harshly before walking back to his room and closing the door with a snap.

Rei sighed and looked at his bandaged fingers.


“Dammit...that means I still have to embroider” He mutters to himself with a groan before getting changed into his night wear and climbing into bed. 'But this got a little easier...now that I know he doesn't want sex' He thought, trying to see the silver lining.
