Part two
He felt cold when he woke up. There was something missing, something...He sat up. Destiney was not there. With a yawn he rubbed his eyes and got out of bed, putting on his robe. He was surprised to see that Destiney was up, yes even dressed. Her face broke into a smile when she saw him and she practically tackled him to the floor. He was slightly taken aback with surprise by this.She was abnormally hyper today.
"Nate called last night.And guess what?"
Kai sat up,staring at her.
"We are going to visit him and your sister now, uncle Kai!"
She grinned when she saw his face. At first he looked stunned for a while before his face turned into a bright smile. His eyes were teary, tears about to spill any minute now.
She pulled him to his feet again.
"Boy or girl?"he asked, his voice barely a whisper.
"Girl..."His eyes were shining with pride.
"Let me have some breakfast and get dressed first,then we can go,kay?"
She smiled at him.
Half an hour later they were at the hospital,trying to find out which room Malisia could be found in.The stopped at the desk on the first floor and asked the nurse behind the counter.
"Miss Hiwatari?Hm,room 243".They said thanks and walked down the hall.When they knocked the door,they were welcomed in by Nate calling:Come in,the door is open!"
He smiled when he saw them,and motioned for them to be quiet. They sat down around the hospital bed.Malisia was sleeping peacefully at the moment,unaware that she had visitors.
"Where is she then? I can't wait to see her!"Destiney whispered, her tone eager. Nate smiled and carefully picked up his child from the little cradle beside the bed. Then he walked over to his sister.
The little one was absolutely astonishingly beautiful. She had lots of soft,light blue hair covering her forehead,her nose a cute little button. She yawned and continued sleeping.
"Oh Nate! Look at her!She is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen!"Nate smiled proudly. Destiney was allowed to hold the baby,and she gently rocked her in her arms,singing her a lullaby.
Kai felt somewhat strange when he saw his girlfriend stand there with that little creature in her arms.
Destiney looked so happy, so natural with that baby.He was enchanted by it. A sigh escaped his parted lips. Maybe he had been unfair with his girl?
Kai also held her and he totally fell in love with the little one.She was such a cute,little baby, looking so much like both her mother and father even now.
They had to leave after a while, visitors were not allowed to stay for more than an hour. Destiney kissed her brother goodbye and promised that she would come by tomorrow with a huge bar of chocolate after school. Nate smiled gratefully at her and concentrated on his daughter again.
Destiney stayed in a good mood the rest of that day.When they got back home ,she even insisted on making him dinner. It would usually be him doing that, she wasn`t as good at cooking. But he didn`t want to spoil her good mood so he let her do whatever she wanted in the kitchen while watching her.
He loved to see her happy, her happiness meant the world to him. It also meant that he could sleep beside her,and not on the couch. For some reason she was always the one to throw him out of the bedroom. He wondered if he let her boss around with him too much. They ate their dinner while watching the television.
The rest of the day was spent in each others company, just relaxing and doing nothing really.When they went to bed,she kissed his nose and lay down,her back against his chest, waiting for him to embrace her. He did so and they fell asleep shortly after.
Destiney opened her eyes and sat bolt upright in the bed. She was suddenly feeling very sick to her stomach,and decided to get to the bathroom as quick as possible. She barely managed to drop to her knees by the toilet before she threw up. She didn't move when she was done, just sat there. She felt cold and stood up again on woobly feet, flushing the toilet and getting rid off the bad taste before she went back to bed. It would soon be morning. Kai was still asleep just like a little baby, curled up in a ball with one arm around his pillow and the other lying by his side.He was luckily a heavy sleeper,just like her.
She yawned and tried to go back to sleep.
When the clock at the bedside table rang he growled and turned it off before he sat up. Destiney was already up,and he could hear her in the kitchen. Why was she up already? Normally he would get up first,then make her breakfast before he woke her.
Breakfast was ready when he came into the kitchen,the nice smell of scrambled eggs in the air.He sat down by the table. She kissed him good morning and put down a plate with food in front of him.He started eating.
"Why are you up already? Couldn't sleep?"
She yawned and shook her head.
"No, I woke up an hour ago feeling sick..And then I couldn't go back to sleep again.."
He smiled at her.
"Sick? But you look fine to me".
She sat down and started eating her own breakfast.
"Yeah, I had to throw up but I feel perfectly fine now",she assured him.
That made a bell ring at the back of his head, but he couldn't remember what it was.
"Maybe you should stay at home, just in case you have caught some virus?"he suggested.
She shook her head and smiled.
"No, I can't miss classes today,baby....I am fine,I assure you".
He finished off his food and went to the bathroom to get dressed.She sighed. What she hadn`t told him,was that she had been throwing up for a week now, each goddamn morning.She suspected that there was something to it, but didn't really know what it could be. Maybe she had caught some kind of virus..Or maybe? Nah, it couldn`t be that.
Both Kai and Destiney were studying advanced math at the same university in the middle of town.They didn't share many classes,but they did have some subjects together though. She kissed her boyfriend goodbye and sprinted up the stairs to get to class in time. The teacher had luckily not come when she entered the classroom.She sat down at her usual desk,beside a girl her age.
The girl had curly, green hair about shoulder length and big, brown puppy dog eyes. She was dressed in very casual and comfortable clothes, mostly in the colours brown,grey and green.
"Mornin to ya,Dizz!"she greeted her mate.Destiney smiled and gave a nod.
"Good morning,Tifa".
The teacher entered the room,and started talking. Destiney took out her reading glasses from her pocket and put them on. About a year ago she had started using glasses to avoid a headache whenever she was reading. Also Kai used glasses,but he would mostly avoid them if he had the chance, even if that meant a huge headache.
They got through the two first lessons without any trouble.
"So,you had a nice weekend?"her friend asked.
"Yeah,I did. Malisia had her baby this weekend,a girl".
Tifa's face brightened.
"She did? Oh, you have to tell her congratulations from me, ne?"
She gave a nod.
"Sure".
Tifa was one of her best friends. They were in the same class most of the time,being partners. The green haired girl came from Norway, so she knew Norwegian beside English. She had been living here in California for nine years now and went to visit her family back home during the vacations.
Tifa had a very good head when it came to math and languages. Besides English andf Norwegian she also knew how to speak Russian, Japanese,Spanish, Latin and Italian. Destiney had never been able to understand how she managed to keep all the different languages apart. She was not very good at languages herself. She had once tried to learn Spanish, but it had not worked out very well. She knew a very small amount of Japanese due to her interest in anime.
"Hm,Dizz? Have you tried to talk to Kai about having a baby yet?"
Her eyes got a sad expression,and she gave a nod.
"Yeah...He said that he didn't want to,not yet..I understand him perfectly fine,we should finish the univ first...But still,I can't help it...Am I being selfish,Tifa?"
The other girl smiled at her and shook her head.
"No, it is only natural,sweetie.Hm, shall we go and grab some food?"
She took her friend`s hand and lead the way to the cafeteria. Tifa was such a nice girl, she always knew how to make her feel better when she was down. Whenever she had been arguing with Kai she would either throw him out or spend the night at Tifa`s place.
The other girls,Aya,Jade and Mariah were still her best friends but they lived further away than Tifa did. She didn't see her old friends very much anymore, though she usually called them once a week to hear if everything was fine and share the latest news. They saw Kai sitting at his usual place,close to the window,talking to a boy in his class.
They got their food and walked over to the two boys.
"Hi Kai, Kita!"Tifa greeted them.
They sat down, Destiney beside her boyfriend, Tifa beside the other boy,a guy with spiky, black hair and dark eyes.
Destiney suspected that there was a spark of affection between her friend and that boy. She had been using her every chance to talk to him lately, though denying that there were any feelings in the picture.She chuckled to herself.
Kai and Kita had been discussing their homework, but put their books away when the girls came.
When school was over, Destiney told her friend goodbye and took Kai`s hand,walking home.Luckily they didn't live far away from the universe.
"Have you talked to Tala?" she asked.
He nodded.
"Yeah,everything is fine back home. He promised to come visit this week. He has a week off from school now. He will probably come tomorrow".
She smiled brightly.
"You mean he is staying for a couple of days?"He smiled back and nodded again.
"What about Rei? Is he coming too?"
Kai put an arm around her shoulders and pulled her closer.
"He couldn't make it til the weekend unfortunately".
They usually did their homework together, helping each other out whenever it was needed. After homework,they decided to go visit Malisia again. Destiney insisted on bringing a huge chocolate for her,for some reason.Kai shook his head. Girls really had a thing for sweets.
They were not really surprised to see that Malisia already had visitors. When Jade saw her friends she practically glomped them, nearly suffocating them. Her more reasonable cousin pried her off and shook her head.
"It has been too long,Dizzy!!!"Mariah exclaimed and hugged her.
She got a hug from everyone, so did Kai as well,then she turned to Malisia,who right now was sitting up in her bed while holding her little daughter in her arms.
"Hi...You feeling ok today?" she asked and recived a nod. Malisia continued to stare in awe at the little creature in her arms.
"Is she not beautiful?"she smiled."Where is my brother?"
She felt two strong arms slip around her waist.
"He is out to get me some fruit...I so badly wanted apples,and him being the angel he is he went to get them for me".
She looked up at her younger brother.
"Hi lil bro...Everything going fine?"
Kai smiled at her.
"Yes..."
He let go of his girl and sat down on the hospital bed.
"You still sure you dont want a baby, bro?"Malisia asked.Kai`s face palened for a second and he shook his head.
"I am sure".
They all had a nice time talking together sharing news and gossip. After visiting Malisia and the newborn,they tagged along with the girls, who decided to go out on town. It was rather late when they got back home and they went straight to bed.
Destiney turned off the light and pulled her covers closer to stay warm.Then she felt a hand touch her shoulder and she turned around to face Kai. He had that smirk on his face again, the one indicating that he definitely was up to something. He sat half ways up and leaned down to kiss her.
She let him,melting into that kiss,as always.She felt his hands tugg at her pyjamas shirt, fumbling with the buttons. He didn't seem to notice that she tensed as he worked his way with the buttons, eager to get that shirt off her.
"Please stop,Kai".
He kissed her collarbone, but didn`t stop.
"Why?"he murmured softly.
She sat up and pushed him away,leaving him to stare at her with a confused look on her face.
"I don't want to",she simply said and lay down with her back to him.He blinked in surprise.What had he done to upset her this time? He sighed and went to sleep, still wondering what he may have done to make her angry.
