Ishizu Pays the Price...

--------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------

Looks like we're stuck on another stupid island, with people who want to steal our bitbeasts. Strangely enough this place is so similar to the last island. But they have newer means of getting you to battle, like stealing my laptop and all. Lucky for me Max was willing to fight the kid who took my computer. The battle was pretty intense, the kid had his own bit beast, and it started to drain Draceil's power. Once Max got his head on straight, he was able to pull off a victory for us. I got Dizzi back, but Ishizu's gone, and none of knows when she left and where's she's heading.

--------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------

"I...I haven't seen her since," started Tyson. Tyson moved forward to stop him, but Ishizu put her hand on his shoulder, stopping him. Tyson whipped around.

"What are you doing?" asked Tyson. "You're the one who didn't want to blade." Ishizu took her hand away, and remained silent. Ishizu closed her eyes, to hide a tear forming, and stepping into the back of the group, until she was starting in the woods.

"Oh great, Tyson," barked Hilary. "You chased her away."

"I didn't mean too..."
"Oh, of course you didn't but you still did!" shouted Hilary. Kai lowly growled at Tyson. He had to go and chase her away, thought Kai. She must be heading for the docks. Looking around, he started off into the woods.

"Hey, Kai, wait up!" cried Ray. They all followed. Meanwhile Ishizu was walking through the woods, moving brush in her way. She wiped away a tear, and continued to trek on. He was right, so many years ago... about me... and Ra... and that this would come to be... I just didn't want to believe him... In the science lab, Dr. Kay and Zagart were watching Ishizu move along on the monitor.

"We have a successful amount of data and energy that HexLeopard collected. And subject Ishizu is still on the move, all other subjects are in pursuit." Dr. Kay watched a second monitor of the others moving quickly through the forest to catch up.

"Hm... little Miss Ishizu didn't want to play with us, so lets show her and the others the business we mean. Set up program number 15. She'll understand we don't take no for an answer..." Dr. Kay was grinning, rubbing her hands as she watched the two monitors.

Kai kept on running. "Slow down Kai!" cried Tyson. "Not so fast!" Kai kept the same pace.

"Looks like you might need a bit more training in endurance," declared Hilary running past Tyson. Kai was focusing on finding Ishizu. Where are you, Ishizu... He kept on looking around. Everyone was shouting her name in the jungle as they ran.

"Ishizu!" cried Ray.

"Where are you!" shouted Max. A bit of ways into the jungle, not to far away from them, Ishizu heard them calling her name. She stopped for a second, she looked back, without turning her head, but she kept on walking. She moved quickly, brushing away the vines that hung down and blocked her way. Everyone was running towards her.

"Subject is 10 yards and closing," stated the scientist.

"Good, hopefully the Blade Breakers will witness what happens when you don't corporate with us..." Ishizu was slowing down, it was harder for her to get through. Kai noticed a couple of vines still swinging from when Ishizu pushed them. She must be a bit ahead. He ran again, and the others were close behind. Ishizu made it into a bit of another clearing. The ground under her started to crack. Kai came into the clearing too.

"She passed over it too quickly," stated the scientist.

"No. She's still there!" pointed another scientist. Dr. Kay turned around and didn't face the screen.

"Ishizu!" he cried to get her to stop. She turned her head around, but still took another step away. The ground was thin and weak. Ishizu's weight was too much for it. If she had been two more inches out she would have been fine, but she wasn't. The ground under her heels gave way, and Ishizu's right ankle bent funny as she fell and slid down the side of the hole. "ISHIZU!" Kai shouted loudly. Everyone else had come into the clearing just in time to see the ground swallow up Ishizu.

"NO!" shouted Ray and Tyson.

"Ishizu," cried Max.

"Ohmigosh!" gasped Hilary, putting her hand over her mouth and then ran over. Kai was closer and made it to the hole first. Ishizu landed in a thud on her right ankle. At first she was dazed by what happened. She looked around her, and then up. She must have been a good ten feet in the ground. But then she felt a twitch of pain in her leg. Looking down, her right ankle was swollen two times its normal size. She quickly grasped her ankle and cringed, it felt out of place. She tried her best to not cry, but it was hard. Her head faced down, her long silver hair covering her face. Kai leaned over the top of the hole.

"Ishizu!" he shouted. "You OK?" Ishizu shook her head no. She couldn't move herself with the pain that was inflicted upon her.

"I can't... my ankle..." was all she could say gritting through her teeth, as she stayed in the same position. Tyson and the others made it to the hole as well. They all looked down. Kai looked around and found what he wanted.

"What are you doing?" asked Tyson. Kai didn't answer.

"What's wrong?" asked Hilary.

"Her ankle," Kai replied, and set up his blade "Go Dranzer!" The blade went flying at a clump of vines. Dranzer cut one of them down. Kai came back with a long vine. At the end of it he tied a loop, and secured it. Then he tied another loop higher up. He threw the rest of the vine at the others.

"What are you doing?" asked Tyson again.

"I'm going in, once I tell you, pull me back up," he stated, grabbing the higher of the two loops. Kai jumped down into the hole. Landing, Kai pulled more slack on the vine, and ran over to Ishizu. "Can you stand up?" he asked. She glanced up at Kai, her hair falling to the sides. Ishizu had no clue, the pain was intense, but she tried not to show it. "Here, hang on to me." Kai kneeled on one knee and did his best to scoop her up, as Ishizu let go of her ankle. Carefully, he walked back over to the rope. Kai slipped one foot in the lower loop, and linked his arm through the other one. Still holding Ishizu, he looked up at the others. "OK, pull us up, but very slowly."

"Ready?" asked Max.

"Heave ho away!" declared Tyson. They all together started to pull in the rope. Slowly Kai and Ishizu started inching up the hole. As they inched up, Kai couldn't help but keep his eyes on Ishizu, and for some strange reason, she back. Ishizu dared to rest her head on his chest, but right now, she felt her strength leaving a bit. So she rested her head on Kai's chest, as they inched up. "A few more tugs and someone should go and get Ishizu from Kai." Ray nodded.

"I got it," he replied. "You guys keep coming." After a few more tugs, Ray let go in the middle and started over to the hole. Reaching down, he looked at Kai. "Pass me Ishizu, and you can climb out." Kai nodded, and carefully started to lift Ishizu up and out of the hole. Ray was able to safely get her, and pull her to the ground, lying her down. Kai grasped the edges of the top and pulled himself up, undoing his arm, and letting go with his foot. In no time, he was up and out. Quickly he went over to Ishizu, who was leaning up against a big rock. She was still cringing, and held her ankle once again.

"Here, let me see it," stated Ray. Ishizu reluctantly let go and straightened out her leg. Ray was careful in undoing Ishizu's shoe and taking it off. As soon as the shoe was off, her foot continued to blow up. Not good, thought Kai. Ray's mind was the same. He stood up and motioned for Tyson to come over to him, away from the others.

"What is it?" asked Tyson.

"I think it's sprained really bad," declared Ray.

"Really?" asked Tyson. Ray nodded.

"That's why we need you, Max, Hilary, and Kenny to get to the docks as quickly as you can," stated Ray. "Ishizu must be in a lot of pain, and I'm no doctor, but she's not doing that good of a job on trying to hide it. Kai and I can get her to the docks, but slower. You guys go ahead, we'll meet you there. OK?" Tyson nodded.

"No worries, we'll go as quick as we can, and get a hold of someone," declared Tyson. Ray nodded. Tyson turned back to the others. "Max, Kenny, Hilary, follow me, lets get going as quickly as we can." The others looked at Ishizu, and ran off with Tyson. Everyone was sprinting as fast as they could. Ray walked back to Ishizu and Kai.

"Listen, I sent the others ahead, to get help quicker," stated Ray. Ishizu nodded, but said nothing. Ray looked around and saw a bunch of sticks scattered around. He collected three long ones and two short ones. "I'm going to make you a splint. It's going to hurt putting it on, so hold Kai's hand. When it hurts, squeeze all your pain out. Kai I'd squeeze back too if I were you." Kai nodded and took Ishizu's hand. She bit her lip. Ray lied the sticks down by her. Taking off his tape off both arms, Ray rolled Ishizu's lower part of her pant away. He placed the two small sticks under her foot spread far a part width wise. Ishizu cringed a bit, but didn't squeeze Kai's hand. Doing good, thought Kai. Ray started wrapping the sticks to her foot. Ishizu started to squeeze Kai's hand a bit. Kai squeezed back to counter it.

"Its OK," stated Kai. "You're doing good." Ishizu cringed again, but tried to keep her eyes open. Ray continued to finish with her foot. Then he set the two longer ones on the sides of her leg. He went slower than before. When he was done, Ray sat back, and Ishizu seemed to slump from the tense she had in her muscles from trying to ignore the pain.

"Done," stated Ray. "Now we just have to get you from here to the docks. Kai, you and I can switch off and on carrying her there." Kai nodded, but Ishizu shook her head no.

"I can walk," she replied.

"But, your leg could be-" started Ray.

"No, I can hold my own," Ishizu sternly announced. She looked and saw the long stick close by. Reaching out for it, she clasped it and brought it close. Ray and Kai helped her stand up, and Ishizu rested half of her weight on the stick. She moved it forward and kind of hopped towards it. "I can do it." Ray and Kai looked at each other doubtfully.

"If your sure," went Ray. Ishizu nodded. They all started off very slowly.

Meanwhile, the group slowed down to a fast walk. Tyson was silent, he was blaming himself for what happened to Ishizu. I'm the one who yelled at her, and that's why she ran away. It's my fault, she never would have fallen if she was with us.

"Stop it now, Tyson," declared Hilary.

"Yea really," chimed Max. Tyson looked up all confused.

"Stop what?" he asked. "Walking? Would you rather me crawl?" They all shook their heads.

"Its soooo obvious Tyson," stated Hilary. "You're blaming yourself, but it's a waste of energy. It was a freaky accident."

"Actually," chirped Kenny. "I don't think it was an accident. I think someone intended on having Ishizu fall in that hole and getting hurt somehow."

"What do you mean?" asked Tyson.

"Don't you remember that voice, 'let the games begin..' and he said that they don't take no as a response," reminded Kenny. "Ishizu refused to blade, so I guess they did this to prove something."

"Yea, that they're complete jerks," declared Max.

"That just means we have to get to the docks quicker than we set out to before," declared Hilary.

"Yea, Come on, we can't let Ishizu down," stated Tyson, who started to run forward.

Meanwhile, the others were getting a bit lost. It had been a couple of hours since they started off.

"Does anyone know where we're going?" asked Ray. Ishizu shook her head. "Kai?"

"I'm pretty sure this is the way, but I wouldn't write it off quiet yet."

"So, we scale the mountain side to get to the docks?" asked Ray. Kai shrugged.

"Once we get to the top, we'll be able to see this island better," he replied. Ray nodded.

"Sounds good," he stated. Then Ray turned to Ishizu. "You could stay here if you want, we'll let you know if it's the right way." Ishizu shook her head and started to hobble her way up the path. Ray and Kai looked at each other and sighed.

"We're not going to change her mind," declared Kai. Ray nodded. He made his way to the front, and Kai stayed behind Ishizu. She's just as stubborn as Tyson, but has Kai's attitude. Boy, she's might be screwing up her ankle even more, thought Ray. Just keep going, thought Ishizu. I'm as tired as they probably think, but I can't let them down. I won't be babied. I wasn't babied anytime in my life. Survival of the fittest... One foot in front of the stick and jump... Ishizu hobbled slowly up the cliff.

"Looks like our young martyr is holding her own," stated Dr. Kay. "But we can fix that."

"What do you mean by that doctor? Your intentions weren't on killing them were they," asked Zagart. Dr. Kay turned around quickly.

"No they aren't, each member of the Blade Breakers and Ishizu are the only ones able to call upon their bit beasts. And we can only absorb all their power until there's nothing left of them if they call them out. Just going to show Ishizu next time she's offered a battle, she takes it..." The scientist nodded.

They were making their way along the path. Ishizu was tiring and she was tiring quickly. Walking, she missed her step, and fell on her left knee. Ray heard her fall, and spun around. Kai ran forward to help her.

"You OK?" He offered a hand to help her up. Ishizu closed her eyes, and gritted her teeth. She forced herself to push up on the stick. She stood up on her own, without Kai's help.

"Fine," she replied. "Go ahead of me, I'm not going to slow you down." Kai looked at her funny.

"No."

"Yes, you want to get off this island as much as the next guy, and the only way is to go ahead of me. I'll catch up," she replied sternly. Kai couldn't change her mind and he knew it. Kai started to walk forward, and Ray went on as well. Ishizu hobbled slowly but surely right behind Kai. A few minutes of climbing, Kai noticed a few stones falling down. He looked up, and noticed a land slide was heading for them.

"RAY!" shouted Kai. Ray looked up and saw it, he ran forward as fast as he could. Kai turned around and headed for Ishizu. Running, he intercepted her, and pushed her and himself out of the way. Some how Ishizu's leg never was injured anymore by the fall. The rocks came crashing down where they had just been. Dust covered them all.

Once it started to settle, Kai looked up and around. There was a large pile of rocks in front of them, blocking them from Ray and the path up the mountain. He stood up and looked down the side, they were pretty high up. He looked back at the rock pile. It was high and wide.

"You OK over there?" asked Ray from the other side. Kai looked back at Ishizu, who seemed fine to him.

"Yea," he replied.

"Ishizu?"

"Alive," she stated. Ishizu went to reach for her stick, but it was snapped in half. It was way to short to do her any good.

"Looks like you're going to have to climb over these rocks to get across."

"Sure does," mumbled Kai. He noticed Ishizu's walking stick was broken. He walked over to Ishizu. "Hop on my back, I have to carry you across."

"I can get across," stated Ishizu.

"Listen to yourself," snapped Kai. "You're leg is injured and there's nothing you can say to change that. And what you can do is limited. You need help to get across, and I'm offering your only option." Ishizu looked down for a second, and then pushed herself on her foot, with Kai's help. Then he bent down and Ishizu clung to his back, wrapping her arms around his neck, resting her chin on her arm. Ishizu didn't realize how tired she really was. Kai hooked Ishizu's legs in his arms, and started to jump rock to rock. Kai slowly made his way over the pile of rocks, with Ishizu on his back. Kai got towards the top, and he stepped his foot one more time up, a couple of rocks slipped. Quickly he steadied himself. "You OK?" he asked Ishizu, but there was no reply, as he kept on going. Soon he made his way onto the other side of the rock pile. He stood next to Ray. Kai was ready to place Ishizu down.

"Wait," quickly stated Ray. "Look." Kai glanced over his shoulder. Ishizu's head was on it, her long hair hanging down, but her eyes were closed. "She's asleep. Let her, you want me to take her?" Kai shook his head.

"I got her," he stated. "Lets get moving." Ray nodded, and they started off. They made it to the top of the mountain, Ishizu was still asleep. Ray and Kai glanced around and noticed the docks not too far away, but they did notice that the sun was starting to set on them.

"We might as well keep going until its too dark," stated Kai. Ray nodded.

"I agree, I just don't really want to be around here when it gets dark..." Ray couldn't finish his sentence. What these strangers could do had no limit in their minds. They seemed ruthless and brutes. Kai and Ray started down the side of the mountain, towards the docks. They made it half way down when they both felt tired. "Lets just take a few minutes break." Ray sat down on a rock that was sticking outside of the wall. Kai felt tired as well, but he still had Ishizu on his back.

"We can't stop until its dark," he replied. "If we stop, we won't start again."

"But we've been walking all day, Kai," stated Ray. "Just five minutes, and I'll be fine." Kai shook his head.

"Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you want five minutes, it'll end up being an hour or two," declared Kai. "Come on. Lets at least get off this mountain." Ray sighed and stood up slowly.

"Hey, Ishizu doesn't look too good," stated Ray. Kai, who couldn't really see her, frowned a bit.

"What do you mean?" he asked. Ray walked closer, and moved Ishizu's hair away from her face.

"She looks a bit pale," he stated. "Come on, let's get her out of here." And they started off again. Then something caught their ears. There were a few foot steps around them. Ray stopped, then Kai did.

"Did you hear that?" asked Ray.

"Yea, it sounds close," declared Kai. He walked off, very cautiously. They walked down the hill, and they saw the bottom of, but then they noticed something else. Down right as the path on the mountain went flat, was a blading dish, and there, standing next to it, was a boy. He was standing there, arms crossed laughing a bit. Ray and Kai both glared down at the boy.

"I guess we have to do this sooner or later," whined Ray.

"He's blocking the only safe path off this mountain..." Kai pointed out. He led the way, Ray following. They came face to face with the boy. Neither of them said a word. The boy continued to chuckle.

On one of the monitors in the main room, there was the image of the boy, and the two Blade Breakers. One of the scientists typed in a few codes, and brought up the monitor to the main screen.

"Sir, Kai, Ray, and Ishizu have come in contact with Josh," stated the scientist. Dr. Kay rubbed his hands together.

"I suppose you are going to promise me that this battle will go better than Yuri's and I'll have those bitbeasts. I don't like disappointments doctor," warned Zagart.

"No worries, Zagart," stated Dr. Kay. "You see, we might not be able to obtain all the Blade Breakers bitbeasts at once, but all we need is to capture Dragoon or Ra."

"Enlighten me," stated Zagart.

"You see, each battle that our bitbeasts go through, they gain the energy and data of the previous bit beasts. With this data and energy, we are able to transfer it into our bitbeasts. So each battle will be harder and harder on the Blade Breakers. We might not get Draceil or Driger right away, but my goal is to have enough energy and data from the battles, win or lose, to be able to fuse maximum energy that we can into our bitbeasts, making them virtually unstoppable...."

"So, who's ready to lose?" asked the boy, Josh. "That is unless you are too chicken to face me. That is such a possibility." Kai took a step forward, frowning yet ready to battle this kid. But Ray stuck his arm out in front Kai, stopping him.

"I'll take this kid on," he declared. "You worry about Ishizu." Kai looked at Ray, a bit doubtful. But Ray returned with a smirk. "I'll be done with this battle in minutes." Ray walked forward up to the dish, blade in hand. Standing across from him, Tomi was grinning, setting up his blade.

"So it's you and me Ray," stated Josh. "Too bad, I was really looking forward to blading Ishizu, but I guess I'll give that opportunity to someone else." Ray attached his blade to the launcher.

"Less of your petty talk, and lets blade," blankly said Ray. "Ready?" He set up, ready to launch the blade. Josh pointed his launcher at the dish.

"Whenever you are!" he shouted back. "LET IT RIP!" Both blades went soaring into the dish. The boy wasted no time on Ray. His blade was aggressive towards Driger.

"Get him Hexdile!" shouted Josh. The blade started to glow and the crocodile bit beast appeared in front of them. It seemed to wrap itself around Driger. "I guess you just aren't cut out for this Ray. You're already losing." Ray was gritting his teeth. Driger was being overpowered, and couldn't get a chance to come out of the blade. Kai's knuckles went white. Come on Ray, beat this amateur. Ishizu started to stir on top of Kai. Her eyes slowly opened, and her head rose a bit, but it was overcome by the headache. She glanced down, noticing Ray in the middle of a battle.

"What's going on?" she asked, a bit oblivious to what was happening. Kai noticed her stir. Turning his head a bit towards her, he sighed that she was awake.

"Its Ray," he stated. "Another one of these Wraiths are blading." Ishizu and Kai's attention stuck on Ray's battle. Ishizu did turn her head away a bit and coughed. Ray heard her and her voice.

"Ishizu!" he stated, taking his mind off the battle for a spilt second. That was what Josh wanted.

"NOW! GET HIM HEXDILE!" shouted Josh. The bit beast emerged from the blade, and started to spin circles around Driger.

"Pay attention to the battle!" shouted Kai. Ray noticed Driger was slowing down and started to wobble a bit.

"What!" shouted Ray. Josh was grinning and laughing. "Driger! Get him!" But Driger didn't appear. "What's going on!" Neither of them couldn't believe Driger wasn't appearing in front of them.

"Why aren't you calling out Driger!" asked Kai.

"He can't," stated Ishizu softly. Kai turned his attention to Ishizu.

"What do you mean?" he asked.

"The blade (cough). The rotation. That bit beast is draining Driger from its power quicker than you think." Kai looked back at the blade. He has to get out of there. Ray was growling, Driger wasn't coming out and the blade was slowing down rapidly. What can I do? That kid has me trapped!
