Chapter 12

Fly me to the moon… In other words, I love you.

His eyes bulged out as the man took in the sight in front him. The human like creature floating before him was no mortal creature. Its snowy white wings spread out to its full length, showing the soft feathers underneath as the whole being glowed with and enthralling white light. As if sensing the man's presence, the immortal creature turned around as it fluttered its wings with practiced ease. Liquidified moonlight cascaded down its shoulders, flowing gracefully with every turn of the creature's head. The pale lavender of its robes shimmered slightly under the radiant full moon as it rustled softly with the flowing movements of the entrancing creature. Beautiful did not even compare to the being. A pair of violet eyes, rimmed sliver, stared back at him emotionlessly as the man gave a gasp.

"Tenshi…."(1)

It was all he could say as a silver light, tinged pink, surrounded him, enveloping him into a deep slumber full of dreams of heavens and angels.

A small figure, unmistakably female emerged from the back of the angelic creature, a sleek pair of wings unconcealed on her back. Her chestnut locks fell all round her, twirling as she looked up at her partner with a bemused smile.

"Tenshi?"

The moon guardian gave a grimace.

"Sigh… Sakura, I told you not to call me that. It's so embarrassing!"

"No, koi(2)… I told you long ago that you look like a tenshi. You wouldn't believe me. So you see, even that man who saw you calls you tenshi immediately. You can't back out on your words you know…"

Yue gave an exasperated sigh.

"Hai, Sakura. You can call me tenshi…."

Yue felt his heart warmed as he watched Sakura's face brightened into an elated smile. After so many years, Sakura still managed to maintain her child-like innocence as well as her cheerful deposition. Sakura had grown more beautiful through the years though. Her once short hair was now long enough to reach her back, her body matured and blossomed into an alluring figure. Her emerald eyes, however, was as captivating as before, only more wise and understanding.

Yue once again thanked Clow, his former master, for his matching making. He must be the most blessed person alive. Sakura filled the hole in his heart he never knew he had with love and wonderment for life. Her smile alone could lift up his spirits and leave him with a warm feeling for hours to come. And she loved him.

//Yue… what are you thinking? You looked so serious…. //

//Nothing much Sakura. Just thinking of how we got together. //

//Hehe… Really… Are you sure you are not into another of you `I am not worthy' session with yourself? //

Yue sighed. She knows me so well.

//You know, I really missed that Sakura tree you showed me on our first date…. I have no idea how to go there though. I did not really pay attention to where we were flying to when you took me there. //

//Of course. You were too busy adjusting to the winds. //

"No silly!" Sakura scolded, nudging the ever solemn Yue, eyes filled with merriment.

"I was too busy staring at you… Tenshi…"

"…"

Yue * almost * blushed at the statement.

//Still shy? //

//… Let's go to the Sakura tree? //

//Yeah! Let's go let's go! //

Yue smiled slightly at the childish happiness of his soulmate at simply visiting the Sakura tree. He could still vividly remember the times when Clow first told them that they were soulmates. The both of them were shocked and relieved at the same time.

<Flashback>

Eriol sat snugly in his red armchair as he glanced around the table. Rubymoon was serving out the snacks while Spinel Sun was pouring tea for all of those present. Grinning his normal evil smile, Eriol lay back into the back of his armchair, arms crossed as he surveyed the polite but curious faces.

"As you all now know, `twas I who had caused the strange happenings in Tomodae district."

He raised his hands to stop the questions coming from his former guardian of the sun.

"I was once of the recarnation of Clow. When Clow was alive, he was not a very happy person. He, being the greatest magician, could foretell everything and thus, nothing surprised him. Therefore, when he died, he separated his soul into two, hoping to recarnate as two different magicians with normal powers. However, that was not to be. Yes, his soul had separated into two and lived two very different lives, but his magic and his memories of his past life stayed with only one of the two souls. That soul was me. The other soul…"

Eriol turned to Sakura and smiled genuinely.

"It was your father Sakura."

Sakura, who was clearly shocked, stared at him with disbelief.

"Yes. That makes you the daughter of Clow, which also meant that I am also partially your father."

Noting with satisfaction that he had shocked everyone in the room, he continued.

"I guess that explains why I asked you to used your powers to separate my magic. Only those with Clow's blood could manage that spell. As I was anxious to complete the wishes of the late Clow, I caused the strange happenings in the town to train Sakura's magic. Besides, I do not want the Clow cards to turn into normal cards. The power from the Moon bell was able to sustain them for a few more months and that was it. They would have to draw from Sakura's star power to survive and the only way to transform them without any funny thing happening was during a battle."

Nodding to everyone, Eriol motioned Ruby Moon to serve their guests as he wished to go to the gardens.

Eriol knew that Yue was present from the way his gardens glowed with the pale glimmer of the moonlight. Searching through the trees and bushes, he easily found Yue sitting on a branch of a tall tree.

"Yue."

His former moon guardian turned his head into the direction of his voice. His heart constricted at the sorrow he saw in Yue's catlike eyes.

"Yes, Master?"

Eriol winced at the toneless voice. He should have known what Yue would feel. After all, it was forbidden for a magical creature to fall in love with his master, much less his creator's descendants. And Yue had done both.

"Yue, I knew what you are feeling right now. Sakura was not only your mistress, but also your creator's descendant. You may feel that the love you feel for her was forbidden?"

"Was it not? It had always been this way hadn't it, Clow?"

Eriol wondered if he had done the right thing meddling with the life of his beloved moon guardian.

"Yue, I must empathize the fact that I am not Clow. Not before the exchange and not after. I am Eriol and always will be for this lifetime. However, from my past life's memories, I could understand that Clow was never one to follow the rigid rules. In fact, he create his own rules to follow, is it not right?"

Feeling encouraged when he saw Yue gave the slightest nod, Eriol continued,

"I don't think the love you have for Sakura is forbidden. In fact, I think that Clow would be most happy to see the two of you together. After all, you are his favorite creation and he loved you like he would his own son. Moreover…"

Eriol hesitated. He would not know what reaction Yue would have upon hearing this confession, but Yue looked so forlorn, and the part of him that was Clow yearned to comfort the lovely moon angel.

"Moreover, you are Sakura's soulmate. Clow had painstakingly used his magic to find the soul of Sakura's future soulmate and created you."

Eriol watched the turmoil of emotions in Yue's usually unfeeling eyes. Smiling, Eriol left, hoping that his words had made a point.

//We were soulmates? //

//What? Is it true? //

//… Clow just told me that we were soulmates…//

//Hehe… I guess that solved why we have telepathy powers? //

//Sakura… There is something I want to tell you…//

//What? //

//It… It was forbidden for the guardian to fall in love with his creator's descendants or his master…//

//…. So did you? //

//Huh? //

// So did you fall in love with your creator's descendant? //

//Sakura, you know this as well as I do…//

//So did you? Tell me…//

//Yes. //

//So if you really love me, and I do you, why do we care about what the others think? After all, they who set the rules had never been in our positions have they? //

//…//

//Yue… I really love you. I don't care what the others think. I just want to be with you. Living without you is far more worse than another other forms of torture…//

//… You really are Clow's descendant… I believe that's what Clow would have told me. //

//See! Even Clow would agree with me. So why bother about what others think? I love you, you love me, that's it! //

Yue smiled at the innocent remark. Yes indeed. Why should he bother? After all, Sakura was the most powerful magician, who would dare to say anything.

<End of flashback>

Two years later, Sakura had finally figured out a spell to separate Yue and Yukito. It was frustrating really, to be able to meet each other at night only. As much as Sakura understood the need for Yue to have a false form, she was no doubt pissed at the fact that she could only meet her soulmate in the nights. So when her powers had increased enough, she started to work on a spell to separate the two souls.

It worked. Now that Yukito and Yue had a different body, Yukito was free spend all his time with his …ehem…lover, Touya. Yue…. Yue still needed a false form, so Sakura used the remaining powers to create a false form for Yue. After that, Sakura was so exhausted that she fell asleep after the final bout of magic.

Yue, in his new false form carried Sakura back home. Sakura's father was unexpectedly calm when he saw Yue carrying his daughter. After all, he was the recarnation of Clow. Nothing much could surprise him anymore.

When Sakura woke up, she was most pleased to see Yue in his new false form. Yue still looked pretty much the same, except that his wings had disappeared and his hair was not as long. Instead of a loose ponytail, he now wore a high ponytail that held his hair high as the strands of molten sliver trickled down his back. His eyes were now a shinning amethyst with speckles of silver if you looked careful enough. Yue was wearing fitting T-shirt and black jeans, looking immensely handsome in them. (AN: Though if you would ask me, Yue looked handsome in anything.)

While Sakura was attending university, Yue entered the National archery competition and (not surprisingly) won. Presently, Yue was a well-known archer who had stolen millions of hearts. Sakura, after graduating, became a schoolteacher, currently teaching in Tomodae Primary School. Yue and Sakura were married as soon as Sakura graduated from university and were now living together in a house near her father and her brother. Touya had moved out two years ago and was now sharing an apartment with Yukito. Tomoyo had immigrated to England to live with Eriol. They had gotten really close ever since Kaho died. As for Xiao Lang, he had found his true love with Meiling and had gone back to Hong Kong to carry on his clan.

<Present>

Watching Sakura danced around under the floating petals of the Sakura tree, Yue felt blessed. There were still some arrogant magicians who wanted to claim the title of the most powerful magician by defeating Sakura. They were just annoying though. Stretching out his hands to catch a stray petal that had been blown his way, he held the precious petal in his hands. Sakura. The most precious flower he had ever seen or held. Suddenly, a flowing voice caught his attention.

Fly me to the moon

And let me play among the stars

Let me see what's bringing life

On Jupiter and Mars

In others words

Hold my hand

In other words

Darling kiss me

Heal my heart with song

And let me sing forever more

You are all I longed for

All I worship and adore

In other words

Please be true

In other words

I love you…

Seeing a beautiful Sakura with her wand and cards in one hand, Yue realized that Sakura had requested THE SONG to sing to him her love for him. Smiling, Yue stretched out his hands to embrace Sakura. Tilting her head, Yue gazed down into the endless emerald depth that forever shined with the love she held for him. Slowly, he lowered his head as his lips met Sakura's in a soul-searing kiss. Tongues tangled and breathless when the kiss finally ended, Sakura looked at Yue as she whispered softly, "Happy Anniversary tsuki tenshi(3)…"

Yue waved his hands as a shower of shooting stars streaked through the velvet sky in trails of flames. He smiled at Sakura's gasp. "Happy Anniversary indeed, Watashi no Sakura(4)."

"Hai. Watashi no Tsuki Tenshi(5)." Sakura returned the loving smile.

Together, they watched the magnificent meteor rain, love left unspoken.

End.
