Chapter 3

Magic of the Heart

We're walking down a corridor, not a care in the world, and I hear some sort of buzzer going off. "What's that?" I ask my companion.

"I don't know, but we better run for cover!" He pulls me into an outcropping nearby, I don't ask how it got there.

It starts to shake violently, and the ground begins to shift below us. Syaoran holds me close, protecting me. "I love you Sakura, I won't let anything happen to you." Our lips begin to draw close, then Kero appears, floating in front of my face and yells at me.

"Sakura, get up, or you'll be late again!"

I wake with a start, realizing it was just another dream, I quickly stop the alarm and get up. "Thank you for waking me up Kero, I can't afford to be late again."

"Yeah, I've been trying to wake you up for nearly half an hour, you have less then thirty minutes to get to school Mistress of the Cards." He looks at me disapprovingly, scolding me in his high pitched voice.

It takes a second for what he said to cross my mind, I am not a morning person at all, unless I need to be. "Ayee, I got to hurry!" I toss my nightgown off and rush into my closet, and am dressed before Kero gets out of underneath the clothing. As I rush out the door and down the stairs, Kero follows.

"You know how glad I am Clow Reed didn't create me for procreation, it's bad enough that your clothes flying on my head annoys me."

I stop a second and glare at him. "Will you stop that, that's been your daily complaint since I hit puberty." Then turned and headed for the kitchen, something smelt delicious.

"The Monster and the Doll having another argument about flying clothes?" Remarked Touya, smirking, as we entered the kitchen. I told both Big Brother and Father about my secrets, since Touya already knew and Father was so understanding.

"I am not a monster!" I glared at Touya now, my argument with Kero nearly forgotten.

"Well Monster, if you don't hurry, you'll be late again."

I just glared at him as Father handed me a piece of toast and my lunch. "Have a good day at school, and don't get hurt if some sort of magical chaos ensues afterwards."

I flew out the door and headed down the street, giggling at how well Father took all this. Touya has been living at home even though he is out of school and makes enough money to support an army of Kero's. I guess it's because he still needs support, I mean, who can blame him. Ever since Yukito was mortally wounded by some demon thing, and decided to give his energy up to Yue, instead of letting them both die. Kaho asks about him a lot, since he tries to avoid crowds, and isn't usually found away from work or home unless he's traveling to and from.

When I let my secret out, Touya just stated that he knew, that was why he was always nearby when I was catching the cards and so on. Father, he just smiled and told me he was wondering where that book had gotten to.

It has been six years since this had all started, I was ten then, young, naïve, not that I've gotten any better. I'm now sixteen, my birthday was just last week, I could have slaughtered Touya. He pretended all day that Syaoran was coming to visit, what was worst, he got everyone else in on it to, the jerk. Tomoyo is still taping everything she finds fascinating, which IS everything by the way, she's like a cat, very curious. Eriol is always busy creating spells and experimenting with his abilities, I can see why the to like each other. At least with them dating, they don't bother me, but when I'm nearby, I suddenly become the center of attention, much to my annoyance. Especially when Tomoyo wants to videotape me in some new outfit, or Eriol wants to show off a new spell, I'm always trying to get him to wait until after school, but he's always been the joker, I wonder if they got the basket ball hoops back in order yet?

I find solace in the letters Syaoran sends me, though the latest troubles me. It seems Meiling had a vision about some sort of Native American warrior. I'd like to think it's nothing, but by what I understand of their family, magic could pop up at any time, even if it's not strong magic. I see her as a good friend, so I hope it's nothing bad, if it's a true vision at all. I hope it will make her happy, because when I see her I still see the sadness in her eyes, though she tells everyone she's over Syaoran. I feel sorta like I stole him from her, so I'd like her to find someone to love.

"Hey Sakura, smile for the camera!"

I looked up just in time to smile, and crash into Tomoyo. After climbing to our feet, and we grinned at one another sheepishly, quite used to my spacing off.

"Something on your mind Sakura?" Asked Eriol, with a concerned look on his face.

"Just thinking about Syaoran's latest letter," I replied.

Tomoyo smiled the way she always did when she saw something cute. "Oh, was it a love letter?"

My face turned a rather nice shade of cherry at this. "Um, not entirely Tomoyo, he also talked about some other things. What I'm concerned about is this vision Meiling has had."

Eriol raised an eyebrow, "I thought Meiling had no magic inside of her?"

"She doesn't have any that her family can sense, as far as they can surmise, this is just one of those dream visions that people get every so often, what they do know is, it seems to revolve around a Native American warrior." I explained.

"Oh my, what does her family say?" Tomoyo asked.

"They're not sure, Syaoran has aked me to consult the cards though."

"Have you?" Inquired Eriol.

"Not yet, I got the letter yesterday, and I was wanting to have your help Eriol, I want to be absolutely sure of no mistakes. I tried to get a hold of one of you, but I couldn't."

Eriol and Tomoyo both blushed a bit, and Tomoyo snickered and nudged Eriol with her elbow. "See, I told you we should've left the phones on, divination might've been more interesting then making out."

Eriol's blush got worst and looked a bit tomatoish, but he stood there smiling as usual. "What a quandry, make out session, versus magical experiments, I don't think I would be able to decide."

At this Tomoyo and I sweatdropped. It's at this point I start to wonder why Kero hasn't been saying much, so I open my pack, and he was sleeping, with half a sandwhich in his tiny paws. "Figures." I moan.
