Chapter 4

The Power Within

I am Syaoran, descendent of Clow Reed, and heir to powerful magic, or so I thought. I have some awesome magical and physical abilities. Six years ago I went to Japan to capture the Clow cards, but when it was all said and done, Sakura was the one that proved worthy of their power. I helped her as she changed them to Sakura cards, and helped her catch the Hope card, which is when we both knew that we loved one another.

We see eachother every so often, but not as much as either of us would like. I have training yet here in Hong Kong, and plus we're both in the tenth grade, so school is a priority. I haven't quite decided on what I want to be, though Tomoyo keeps telling me I should be a model for her men's line of clothes, that might be fun, I'd be spending a lot of time with Sakura.

Meiling must have seen my dreamy expression and slight blush, she's coming over to where I'm sitting.

"Are you thinking about a certain Japanese Sorceress Syaoran?" She asks me, smirking, as I blush brighter.

"Yeah, I'm just daydreaming, nothing else to do, except maybe train, want to spar?" I lift my eyebrow, waiting to see if she was willing to go a round or two.

The impish, raven hared girl tilts her head slightly to the left and smiles brightly. "Sure, but go light on the magic, I can't use it, okay."

I stand up, the loose joggers I'm wearing blowing in the weak wind. "You don't have to remind me Meiling, I know very well of your abilities." I say this, well rubbing my chin, where she had kicked me about a week before, after evading my wind bursts.

As we walk to the training area, I think about my progress. I at one point mastered the art of using my elemental magic without my sword, and then mastered it's use without the charm sheets, generating the power needed from my own internal magic supply, making fights much more entertaining, and spell casting much quicker. Meiling has improved as well, where she lacks in magical power, she makes up for in physical strength and agility. She's faster then most of the other students of Martial Arts in the family, and gives me a run for my money, her favorite weapon has become the Bo stick, which she excels at by the way.

We are now standing across from one another, stances ready, and she attacks. I dodge as she comes down at me with a flying heel kick, that would've hurt pretty bad, and then I try for an uppercut, which barely taps her. "I've been thinking about that vision I had Syaoran." We're sparring and she wants to talk, typical, I think this as I jump to dodge a roundhouse she tries to nail me with.

"Yeah, thought of anything more that it could be?" I reply as I try to nail her with a lightning powered cross jab, but she moved just in time for me to hit air.

"Nope, but Sakura says she's gonna get Eriol to add his power to a divination ceremony, so they might be able to figure it out somewhat." She says this while nailing me with three side kicks to the gut.

I thought it was interesting that Eriol decided to move back to Tomoeda, after spending about a year in England. "I just asked her to do it herself, I didn't think she'd try to get Eriol to help out." I thought it was pretty ironic when I heard about Eriol and Tomoyo going out.

I just barely dodge some jabs to the head and counter with a lightning fist to her chest. "She told me that he agreed, I guess his curiosity is great, so he's always willing to check something out." At this she pins me to the ground, holding me there with a stun move pointed right at me. "I win."

I look up her in a look of surrender, which prompted her to help me up. "Sometimes I think I should go all out with my powers, that way I could keep up with your physical abilities."

She sticks her tongue out at me in response. "It's just because I'm always training with you, and where your time is split between magic and physical training, I can focus on just Martial Arts and conditioning, which in turn makes me a great fighter."

We laugh at about this, and a few other things as we towel off our sweat and head to the lounge to see what else we could do. We arrive there and only a few other people were there, either cooling off or just resting. As Meiling went to get us each a juice, I decide to check my email. I open my account to find that I had a message from Sakura, I was just about done with the message when Meiling came in.

"Hey Meiling, look at this, I got a message back from Sakura about your vision."

"Yeah, what does it say?"

"Read for yourself." I reply as I turn the screen to her.

It read:

Dear Syaoran,

This concerns Meiling's vision. It was odd, I got the cards out, and Eriol got his magic working, but when I asked them to help me with the vision, they became confused. They couldn't decipher it, as if something strong is blocking them from working properly, by what Eriol and I could figure out, it's not human, it seems to be some sort of spirit or something. Well, I'll tell you if anything else comes up.

I Love you,

Sakura
