Chapter 16: The Man in Red and Killer Eyes (Part 1)
It has been a while. The cold darkness has made the illusion that is has been many
months. The cold hair has been chilling her lungs and dampening her strawberry hair. Will they
come for me, she thought. Haruno Sakura was on the edge of despair. She suffered cruel days of
loneliness and his taunting; his torture, but it was only torture; it stopped just short of rape and
Vash did not seem like the person to partake in that.
Vash kept the news of the outside world to a minimum; he never allowed Sakura to listen
into his conversations with Orochimaru. Sakura didn't even know where she was. She
constantly prayed for her friends because she knew that times were troubling and perhaps above
all she prayed fro Sasuke's well-being. Life was difficult; she was beginning to learn to cope
with it, infact she had to.
Each day began in the early hours around four-forty five in the morning. Vash would
wake her each morning and would torture her for say thirty minutes, feed her , and then continue
with the torture. He would leave her in her darkened room until lunchtime and then he would
torture her after feeding her until she would throw up. What was the cruel justice behind this ?
What was his motivations for torturing ? Why even bother with torturing her ?
Each day she asked herself this and each day she was no closer to the truth. Until a
certain day after weeks of the agonizing routine. It was one of the nights when Sakura could not
sleep at all; she just sat awake thinking of her friends and hoping that they were ok. And then
the routine began; the door slowly opened and a dimmed light poured into the room. He walked
in slowly into the room. Vash the Stampede wore a simple shirt and a pair of pants. He walked
over to Sakura and gave her a look of idle curiosity.
Why is she up ?, he thought. He dragged her out of the bed and stood her up
right. And then he proceeded with giving her a sound beating. She made no attempts to move.
She did not flinch; she just stood there.
"Why don't you move?" He asked her; he stopped beating her for a response.
Sakura just stood there; her face was all red and yet she stood there. Vash just looked at her and
he lowered his hand.
"There is no point. If I did move then you would continue beating me regardless.
I mean I'm sure at one point you would've never hit a girl, but now it seems so wrong. It just
seems that you are working so hard to be bad," said Sakura. He looked down at the ground; he
knew it was true, but he had nothing to say about it, not yet atleast.
"I am bad. I am the worst kind of evil." He brought up his fist and was about to
strike her again and she just looked at him defiantly.
"You can tell me why you are the worst kind of evil and then if you give me a
convincing argument then you may strike me down."
"To bad I don't have to." He brought his fist up and down into her skull. He sent
her flying into the wall, unconscious. "I don't have to do anything." And with those words he
walked out of the room and locked the door. He proceeded down the narrow hallway and into
the den; it was almost time for to report to Orochimaru. He enjoyed his vengeance on Naruto but
he was tired of beating Sakura; he wanted Naruto now, rather than later and hopefully now the
Orochimaru would let his plans move forward so the Red gunslinger could exact his vengeance.
At one point Vash would never hit a woman or seek retribution; Rem would disapprove,
but to bad she was dead. Vash sat in a recliner awaiting the time to report in. At five-thirty was
his designated time to report in; it was only five-fifteen.
Vash slowly drifted into sleep. And then he saw those cursed eyes; those demonic eyes.
The cackling laughter was alive and yet it was dead; it sounded deep into his dreams and yet
there was no waking up. A sword came from the darkness towards him and then he was
suddenly awake and he sat in the chair sweating. It was almost real, he thought, and yet Kyo is
dead. It was now 5:28.
Vash went and knelt in front of the dying fire. " Lord Orochimaru, I am reporting in for
more instructions." The dying flames soon came to life. A wicked voice soon sounded and his
face, Orochimaru's face, appeared from the flame.
"Good morning Vash," said Orochimaru shrilly. The floating head licked its lips.
"Good morning my lord. What would you have me do ?"
"Ahh yes, your orders. It is time for you to hand over Sakura to one of my
agents."
"Lord you gave me the impression that I was to hold Sakura as part of my
vengeance."
"Vash I gave you no such impression. It was easier giving you the girl for the
time being because of lack of room at my facilities."
Vash knew that this was entirely a lie, but he knew arguing with Orochimaru
would bring him pain and death. "What will happen to the girl, sire ?"
"She will shortly die after she is brought here. My agent will be by to get her at
noon." Orochimaru's head vanished and the flames died down once more. Can I really let her
die like that, he thought, I no choice to. However it only seems like I don't have a choice: I either
give her over to the agent or I help her and then use her to accomplish my goals. At one point I
knew exactly how to handle a situation like this and now I don't. It is not just the girl's life at
stake, but also Millie and Merly's. Should I tell her what happened or not ? I will wait; I have
until noon.
Vash walked outside into the dawning morning and pulled his gun from his side.
He quickly and expertly twirled it around his finger. He kicked up a piece of tin at his feet and
unleashed his lead into it. All the shots went perfectly into one another and made a single hole.
There are gunshots, thought Sakura, perhaps somebody has found us. To bad Sakura has
never had such luck like that; it was probably just Vash shooting away at something. Sakura still
wore the same clothes from when Vash kid napped her, but instead of being clean and virtually
new they were now torn and ragged. I feel a change coming soon. Something will happen and I
will get out of this blasted room, thought Sakura. She sat down on the bed and slowly drifted
into a deep slumber.
Meanwhile in a dark monstrous castle sat Orochimaru in his study. The lights were
dimmed, infact there were no lights to be dimmed and at his side was Naraku. His dark hair ran
down to his shoulders and he wore a devilish smile; there was that evil twinkle in his eyes.
"Lord, the gunman will not give the girl up. He will make a run for it; I can feel
it. He wants to destroy Naruto above all else," said Naraku.
"Then what shall I do my puppetmaster ?" asked Orochimaru coldly. He sat
looking into his dwindling fire. His mind was truly not on Vash, but Sasuke and his
experimentations on him. Soon the young Uchiha will be the prefect vessel for me, thought
Orochimaru wickedly, right after the exams.
"Allow me to send one of my puppets to dispose of him." He wore a nasty smile.
"And I know exactly which one I wish to send."
"Send your puppet but it is to bring both Vash and the girl here. Vash is not yet
done; I will not waste any men on him, instead I think we will let Naruto will kill him."
Orochimaru let out a cackle filled with purest form of darkness.
"Very well then my lord. Naraku bowed a final time and before he left he said
one final thing. "And Lord I know he will fight back."
"Yes he will but advise your puppet that the gunman is to be brought here alive
and unspoiled." Orochimaru turned back to his fireplace and Naraku gave a final smile and left
to give the order. Orochimaru soon called the flames to life and made contact with Vash and he
gave the new order that Vash would be taken in with Sakura. And Vash's response was
predictable enough.
What will I do, thought Vash, I could get killed; I need to finish it. Vash began to walk
towards Sakura's room. He unlocked the door and proceeded in the room; she was asleep on the
bed and he went over to wake her. This time there would be no torture unless, there would be no
unless, there would be no torture. Sakura groggily woke up and looked to up to see Vash.
"We need to talk," whispered Vash. Vash withdrew a feet to give her space and
also to test her response. Sakura only nodded and got up. "Would you like something to eat or
to drink ?"
"No, but possibly after you finish what you have to tell me," said Sakura, she
really wanted to hear what Vash had to say and she wanted no distractions.
Now where to begin, thought Vash. He simply sat down on the Sakura's bed.
"I think I know where to begin." Vash simply let out a sigh and he withdrew into
explaining not his past but who he was. The past would come soon enough.
"I am over one-hundred years old. In my world I was simply labeled as a human
disaster. I was peaceful and hated killing, but many people made the assumption that I was a born
killer. At one point I was always smiling enjoying life, but my smile was a lie; it concealed my
sadness. My brother, Knives, killed one of the women that I grew to love. Although she taught
me to never hate or never kill; I truly wanted to see Knives dead. And perhaps the thing that
really made me hate Naruto was the fact that I never did kill Knives. He stopped me from killing
him; he saved me from killing another, but I've killed plenty. Naruto left me in that world to die;
the very same world where my brother died." Tears began to trickle down Vash's cheeks. Vash
drew up his gun in front of him and aimed it, he put the gun down and into his lap. Sakura sat at
Vash's side silently.
"I still want vengeance, but there is something more. I was sitting there in my
prison for three years and was trying to decide if I should try to get retribution. Its not just
vengeance I seek but my friends from my world have been imprisoned by Orochimaru. Once I
kill Naruto they are free. But my fight with Naruto will take a long time to become a reality;
there are things that he must do first."
"Tell me everything," said Sakura, she looked into his face. She only saw sadness
in his face, he looked incapable of completing his plans for Naruto, but she knew that he could
still easily kill him. He could probably kill anybody without a moment's thought at this point.
It was only six and he had plenty of time, but it would take a while to explain and
describe. His story would take hours to explain from the time they entered the demon's world to
the very end when he was captured. Vash exhaled slowly and he knew that it would be a
difficult tale to tell. And yet at noon everything could change; his plans could be doomed.
Orochimaru is making a move which is conflicting with the deal, thought Vash, and of course
this could be a measure of safety even though that does not seem likely; Orochimaru will kill her
and my plans will be at an end although I will probably be forced in the end whether I like it or
not to fight Naruto.
"The story begins after jumping from Kagome's world and into the world of the one with
Demon Eyes."
Author's Note: Yeah Orochimaru is evil. How things are going to end with Sakura will
influence Vash and Naruto's fight (yes they will be fighting) and everything else, but only
Vash will know and Naruto will continue with what Vash told him to do. More or less the
things on the letter are what Naruto wants him to do. Everything has consequences.
Confusing isn't it. Well this is part one.
