Chapter 17: The Man in Red and Killer Eyes (Part 2)

It has been a number of weeks since they left Kagome's world. Kagome has kept to
herself in regards to Inuyasha's disappearance and death. In fact nobody said much of anything.
It was as if something happened; something very terrible. This world is seemingly driven by
something incredibly evil. The group has been traveling through a forest since arriving in the
world and it seemed as if this was all the world was, nothing but trees and darkness. Life had
seemed nonexistent and yet in every world they traveled through there was a purpose for them.
To either cast out the greater evil of Orochimaru or to find that one vital person of true
importance that would be a factor into destroying Orochimaru and all he stood for.
The mist seeped through the very forest and that was all there seemed to be. Mist and
trees. Kagome was making a vain attempt to keep warm by wrapping herself in a thin cloth.
Yahiko took note to her and made a move to help her and she slapped him, out of fear of
violation.
"I was only trying to help !!! ," exclaimed Yahiko, rubbing his red cheek. Naruto
and Vash stood idly by laughing at Yahiko. This was the first time in a while that either of them
laughed and yet it was hollow and just a lie. For the past few weeks Naruto was preoccupied by
his ghosts and the pains of Kakashi's death. He still awoke at night in a cold sweat. Vash had
his eyes on any movements, anything that was out of the ordinary. He knew his brother was
following, but he wasn't sure if he made the jump yet. It was all a matter of time.
"Next time you should ask, Yahiko. A girl could misinterpret that," replied
Kagome. She continued walking through the mist and Yahiko just frowned and continued the
everlasting trek. Vash turned to Naruto and they exchanged nods. They knew they were being
followed but they didn't want to say a word; if they did then they could possibly face certain
death.
The group continued trekking through the mist led by Naruto, then Kagome, Yahiko and
then Vash. It continued like this for many days to come.
There is something wrong, thought Naruto, is this world dead? They had
seen nothing and the mist just continued over and over again. There was a whizzing through the
mist. It was nearly silent and yet it was there. That sound was there and it was growing closer
and closer. Vash turned and put his arm out into the air. At that very moment a giant spear
appeared in his hands.
He dropped it onto the damp forest ground and yelled, "MAN, that was close!!"
He quickly pulled out his six shooter and jumped to side and aimed into the air. Naruto sprinted
towards Vash and ordered Kagome to remain at Yahiko's side. Vash's gun was pointed at a
single man's head that just leapt from the air to the ground who landed swiftly on his feet.
"Give me one good reason not to shoot you," said Vash coldly. The man
just stared blankly at him. He had a red bandana on his head and he had a totally dead stare. At
that moment he vanished, but within seconds he reappeared in Naruto's arms.
"Nice try kid," said Naruto softly. Vash sheathed his gun back onto his
side. The man was extraordinarily light and flailing madly. There was a sudden scream and
Naruto turned around to Kagome.
To his horror Yahiko was sprawled on the ground and a man with violent crimson
red eyes was right behind. Vash drew his gun quickly, but suddenly it was shot out of his hands;
the shot came from the mist and soon a beautiful young teenager stepped forward from the mist.
She was only a teenager.
"There will be none of that," said the girl, having her gun pointed at Vash.
It seemed at this moment that team Naruto was beat. Yahiko was on the ground, Naruto was
staring at the man with demonic crimson eyes, Vash was busy with a gun to his head, and
Kagome was stuck in front of the man.
There was one quick fluid action that turned the tide of this short battle. Naruto swiftly
took a shuriken from his pouch with careful precision and flung it backwards towards the girl.
He dropped the flailing young man to the ground, dazing him, and made three clones and went
towards the man holding Kagome. The man threw Kagome off to the side and drew a long
sword from his side. Naruto diverged from three and into one and then drew a shuriken. The
man with crimson eyes brought the sword down with a sudden slash. Naruto blocked it with the
shuriken but it seemed that the sword was to powerful for him.
"Give up. I'm too powerful for you," said the man. His voice was icy with
a hint of arrogance thrown in there. Naruto held to continue blocking the sword but then he
released one hand and began summoning up his chakra.
"You have two seconds to give up or you will be in for a world of pain."
The man kept smiling at Naruto and then Naruto let up on the block. The man brought the sword
down on Naruto but by this time it was just air. The ball of energy came spiraling through the air
and hit the man in the stomach. It sent him flying threw the air and into a tree, knocking him
unconscious.
The man with crimson eyes awoke to see Naruto standing in front of him. Naruto
was just smiling offering a hand to the man.
"Yuya told me it was only a misunderstanding Kyo. She said that you
guys thought we were some kind of mibu," said Naruto. Kyo just stared up at Naruto without
blinking or even saying a word. He just spat at the ground and proceeded to get up on his own.
Naruto put his hand down.
"Naruto, you should get use to that. He is like that with everybody, except
maybe for Yuya," said a the man known as Benitora leaning up against the tree with his tree.
Naruto just shrugged and walked over to talk to Kagome and Yuya.
Vash and Yahiko stood away from a now crackling fire and instead stood isolated near
the mist.
"I feel something wicked, Yahiko. Something is about to happen and I
don't know what," said Vash softly looking at the ground. The only thing that Vash knew was
that his brother was close to them.
"I feel it too, but there is something about these people. It seems like they
are running from something. There is like blood on their hands," replied Yahiko grimly.
Yahiko and Vash looked off into the mist without saying another word unaware of the
malevolent eyes staring back at them from the other side.
Naruto sat with Kagome and Yuya around the fire talking about old times, their journeys,
and just pretty much things that would keep them warm.
"We once had more in our group. But then we met the Mibu," said Yuya sadly.
Her young face was aged with wisdom, this added to her beauty.
"The Mibu....," said Naruto contemplatively. He was trying to figure out if there
was a connection between them and Orochimaru.
"They simply took us out one-by-one. First Yukimara, then Sasuke......." Her
voice was drowned out by sobs and Kagome took hold of Yuya. Naruto got up and went over to
Kyo. He was lying up on a tree staring coldly at Naruto.
"Kyo, tell me do you know anything about a man named Orochimaru?" asked
Naruto. Kyo looked at Naruto coldly and just simply continued staring at him.
"No...when I was among them there was no mention of him," replied Kyo.
"Oh. Ok nevermind." Naruto was dissatisfied by this response but maybe
Orochimaru had nothing to do with this world.
"But when the former Crimson King turned there was always a man named
Knives with him or at least that is what I've been told." Vash turned to Kyo.
"KNIVES!!!," exclaimed Vash. Yuya, Yahiko, Kagome, Benitora, and Naruto all
turned him. So there is a connection, thought Naruto, even in this dying world.
Vash was slowly turning red with anger. The ground began to crackle with energy, his
energy. And then he calmed down.
"You alright man?" asked Benitora, putting his hand on his shoulder. Everybody
was still looking at Vash silently and then everybody broke into laughter even Kyo. Even with
the rumors of Knives and such, those kind of thoughts were only in the very back of their minds
at least for now.
Vash awoke to sobbing. Everybody else was asleep and the twigs and severed tree limbs
were burned down to blackened remains and smoldering smoke. Vash saw a figure standing
over where Benitora was sleeping. A few feet from Tora slept Yuya and standing on top of him
was the sobbing figure.
It was a man with cold blond hair and he turned to Vash and smiled. His blue eyes shone
and his hands were covered in warm blood. Benitora's warm blood. Vash could see it seeping
into the ground. And at that moment he knew that Benitora was dead. The man was his brother,
Millions Knives. Knives fake sobbing came to an end and he soon began to smile wickedly.
"Who is next brother? Which vile human would you like to see die next?"
whispered Knives icily. His brother took hold of Tora's neck and quickly snapped it. "Just had
to make sure." He stepped off the body and onto the ground.
Knives and Vash were twin brothers. They were plants, experiments raised on the
SEEDS ship, but while they looked the same they did not act the same. Knives reveled in
isolation and hatred while Vash was kind hearted and sympathetic towards humanity.
Vash quickly made a move for his gun, but as fast as he had his gun out that also meant
Knives had time to move. His brother appeared right in front of him and took hold of his right
arm and kneed him in the stomach. Vash went crashing down to the ground and the encampment
woke up. There were cries of shock, anger, and sadness at the sight of Benitora's body. Kyo was
especially mad since he did not even feel the monster.
Knives bent down and whispered in Vash's ear, "Fight me dear brother. Your
heart desires vengeance."
Vash knew if he fought Knives then he would end up killing him and he knew that was
not an option. Knives pointed Vash's arm towards Yuya and forced Vash to pull the trigger. It
was a direct hit. Yuya was dead. Kyo ran towards her and caught her before she fell dead to the
ground. Vash turned towards his friends. They were gone. In moments they appeared in the air
readying themselves to strike Knives.
As Naruto was about to bring Chidori down on Knives' head he was sent flying as he was
about to strike a tree he rebounded and headed back for Vash and Knives. Kagome had no
further luck since she was sent crashing in the ground near Kyo and the dead Yuya. Yahiko
almost nicked Knives but the energy being exerted sent him spiraling upward into a tree. During
this time Kyo let Yuya down onto the ground and his anger was rising. The hatred was boiling in
him more so than when Akira was killed by the King.
Vash broke free of the grip that Knives had him in as Naruto was sent flying back into the
tree. The gunman was searing with anger. He removed his red jacket and tossed it to the ground.
He wore a black tattered shirt that was dirtied from years of travel. Vash loaded his gun in
seconds and removed his glasses. His eyes were contorted into a vicious scowl. There was no
Vash, only the machine. He smiled and licked his lips and began smiling. He pointed his gun at
Knives and fired a shot and even before he could blink he was at Knives' throat with a knife.
"What makes you think that I won't kill you for your sins, brother?" asked Vash
savagely.
"Hehehehe. Be assured little brother that you will never kill me," replied Knives
arrogantly. He just stood there looking at Vash and the knife directed at his throat.
Vash was about to make a slash across his brother's throat, but Knives' eyes darted off
towards the right. Vash turned for half a second and he was flying in the air knocked
unconscious. In the seconds that he was at Knives with the knife he failed to notice that Naruto
was even there. Vash's body landed with a thud.
"I'm sorry my friend, but I can not let you break your vow," said Naruto solemnly.
He brought his arm back down to his side and stared at the murderous man that was known as
Millions Knives.
"That is so sweet," replied Knives sarcastically. Naruto turned to Knives and
punched him which sent him flying into several trees. Naruto gathered up his chakra into chidori
and went running after Knives. When he finally caught up Knives, who was 20 feet away from
the original camp, was sprawled on the ground laughing. The ninja stepped on a log in his path
and flew 15 feet in the air and directed his chidori towards the ground.
As he was about to make contact with Knives somebody stood alongside Knives and
blocked Naruto's attack with a sword. Naruto looked at Kyo in horror and before he could say
anything he was on the ground in a world of pain. Kyo slashed him in five different areas on his
body so that Naruto would not be able to engage Knives in battle.
Knives was sitting on the ground now and said, "Thank you Demon Eyes Kyo. You may
have saved my life, but I will still have to kill." Kyo directed his sword down towards Knives.
"I have business with you. You killed Yuya for no reason," replied Kyo coldly.
Knives' face lit up by Kyo's words.
"Ahh. So the Demon Eyes does care for somebody besides just himself." Kyo
brought the sword down into Knives' stomach. The sadistic killer began laughing madly. "That
will be the only hit you will take on me." Knives began to laugh up blood.
The killer slowly got up and his eyes were psychotically beautiful. Knives' energy began
to take the forest ground apart and the mist seemingly began to vanish. Kyo turned and struck
but Knives took up the sword before Kyo could land the hit and punched him in the face. Kyo
showed no reaction to it and punched the man right where he afflicted the wound. Knives gasped
for half a second and took out a gun that was hidden on his waist. He pulled the trigger and a
bang erupted from the gun. Kyo brought up his sword and swiftly cut the bullet in half.
Kyo disappeared and the only thing that could be seen is a distortion in the mist. As he
reappeared in front of Knives he brought his sword swiftly down onto him, but he was stopped in
his tracks by a wall. Knives began smiling menacingly. He brought his arm out and pushed the
barrier and sent Kyo flying into the air. Kyo launched himself from a tree and back towards
Knives with intense vigor, but he stopped midair.
"You have killed everybody you have ever loved Kyo. Just give up and die. You
are a failure, weak. Your existence is that comprised solely of anger and loneliness." Kyo's
intensity went blank. He threw his sword down onto the ground and held his head.
"GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!!" exclaimed Kyo. He began shaking madly with
laughter. His crimson eyes seemed to even go a deeper shade of red.
Knives stared at him puzzled by this turn of events.
"You are a fool. Did you really think you could make me feel bad?" Kyo
continued laughing but in the depths of his mind he knew that Knives spoke parts of the truth.
"HAHAHAHA!!! I'm tired of toying with you. You tire me; I suppose that I
should kill you and go for Naruto."
"How could an idiot corrupt the Mibu?" Knives stopped laughing at this and his
smile turned into a scowl.
"How dare you? I will show you how I did it?" Knives brought forth his arm with
the gun and his eye rolled into the back of his head. The gun rapidly began to change into
something that appeared to be more powerful and dangerous than ever before. At this time
Knives appeared to be giving off his energy into the gun causing it to grow ever bigger than
before. "HOW DO LIKE MY ANGEL ARM FOOL !?"
Kyo knew that whatever it was, was something that held a considerable amount of power.
He began to summon up the energy for his final and most powerful technique, Kouryu. I wish I
had my body, thought Kyo, it would be even more powerful than it is now.
Knives pulled the trigger to the Angel Arm by the time Kouryu was near completion.
Kyo went into the massive ball of energy. The energy from the gun began to expand and the
forest was virtually going up in flames even from the sight of the energy ball. The four gods
guided Kyo into the ball and it began to tear his clothing and body to pieces. Kyo's rage and
tenacity kept him going through the energy and he had stop it from decimating everybody that
was still alive. Kyo got to the barrel and Knives.
Kyo, surrounded by the very essence of the four, swung his sword down and a slash of
golden wind came from and knocked the arm upwards into the air. The slash did more than that;
Knives was slashed from front to back and began bleeding rapidly. His finger unclasped the gun
and the gun proceeded back down to its normal intended size. He fell down to his knees and
began laughing madly, coughing up blood, and then he fell into the Earth dead. Kyo was no
better off. The energy and will it took him to get through the massive ball of energy took its toll
on his body. Infact there was virtually nothing left of his sword Tenro. He began coughing up
massive amounts of blood and he was covered in wounds. Kyo began to lose consciousness and
he passed out into the dirt. His body was consumed by the flames.
The forest by this time was consumed in flames. Naruto woke up with a gasp for air.
Smoke was traveling through his lungs and he knew if he stayed here any longer than him and his
friends would all die. He wearily got up and located Yahiko, Vash, and Kagome. He woke up
Yahiko and Vash. He pulled Kagome's body onto his shoulders.
"We need to go now," replied Naruto, directing this statement towards his friends.
A tree crashed behind them and they were running through the forest. They didn't know what
they were running to but they knew that if they stopped running then they would eventually die.
They saw the charred corpses of Knives and Kyo.
Yahiko pointed off towards the distance and saw a glimmering light. It was the sight of
another world.
"Keep running," said Naruto. Then he heard it the sounds of wicked voices
coming from behind them. They were moving fast but he knew that these voices were catching
up. The fire was all around them and he did not even know how these beasts could keep up with
him. They kept running faster and faster. Less than a hundred feet. 75 feet.
The forest became nothing, but a burning inferno that if they stopped then they would be
consumed by the flames. Flaming spears began coming down all around them, but they kept
running and running. The vicious voices began taunting them. Several massive burning trees
crashed infront of the portal just as they reached it.
"Yahiko, go first over the trees and into the portal," said Naruto quickly. Yahiko
turned and looked at Naruto. He nodded and jumped over the trees and went into the portal.
Naruto turned to Vash and told him to go into the portal. Vash stepped in front of
Naruto and just as he was about to jump a spear went whirling through his abdomen. The beast
at the other end of it dragged him back into the flames and he was screaming as he was pulled
into the inferno. Naruto stared in absolute shock.
"NARUTO SAVE ME!!!" screamed Vash and slowly his voice became drowned
out by the flames. Naruto turned towards the voice and just as he was about to follow a tree
crashed infront of him. He was blocked. He turned grimly and took a step toward the burning
tree blocking the portal and sadly jumped over it and into the next world.
Vash heard nothing, but the fire waging through the forest. He could not hear his friends.
The only thing he heard was his harsh breathing. Even the beast that wounded him was no where
to be found. He began hearing steps. They were just steps and he was pretty sure that they were
only part of his imagination. The steps slowly became louder with each passing moment.
Vash looked up towards where the steps were coming from. A man walked through the
flames. The flames seemed to part when he approached the flames. He wore black armor and
had short orange hair. He had a cruel smile on his face that had more personality than that of
Knives'.
"Who do we have here?" bellowed the man. He stood just before Vash with his
arms crossed
Vash looked emotionlessly into the man's face and said nothing.
"Lord Orochimaru shall be pleased."
Vash looked off into the distance bitterly with the knowledge that he was forsaken by
Naruto and his drive to kill Orochimaru. If only he stayed. If only......

was still looking at Vash silently and then everybody broke into laughter even Kyo. Even with
the rumors of Knives and such, those kind of thoughts were only in the very back of their minds
at least for now.
Vash awoke to sobbing. Everybody else was asleep and the twigs and severed tree limbs
were burned down to blackened remains and smoldering smoke. Vash saw a figure standing
over where Benitora was sleeping. A few feet from Tora slept Yuya and standing on top of him
was the sobbing figure.
It was a man with cold blond hair and he turned to Vash and smiled. His blue eyes shone
and his hands were covered in warm blood. Benitora's warm blood. Vash could see it seeping
into the ground. And at that moment he knew that Benitora was dead. The man was his brother,
Millions Knives. Knives fake sobbing came to an end and he soon began to smile wickedly.
"Who is next brother? Which vile human would you like to see die next?"
whispered Knives icily. His brother took hold of Tora's neck and quickly snapped it. "Just had
to make sure." He stepped off the body and onto the ground.
Knives and Vash were twin brothers. They were plants, experiments raised on the
SEEDS ship, but while they looked the same they did not act the same. Knives reveled in
isolation and hatred while Vash was kind hearted and sympathetic towards humanity.
Vash quickly made a move for his gun, but as fast as he had his gun out that also meant
Knives had time to move. His brother appeared right in front of him and took hold of his right
arm and kneed him in the stomach. Vash went crashing down to the ground and the encampment
woke up. There were cries of shock, anger, and sadness at the sight of Benitora's body. Kyo was
especially mad since he did not even feel the monster.
Knives bent down and whispered in Vash's ear, "Fight me dear brother. Your
heart desires vengeance."
Vash knew if he fought Knives then he would end up killing him and he knew that was
not an option. Knives pointed Vash's arm towards Yuya and forced Vash to pull the trigger. It
was a direct hit. Yuya was dead. Kyo ran towards her and caught her before she fell dead to the
ground. Vash turned towards his friends. They were gone. In moments they appeared in the air
readying themselves to strike Knives.
As Naruto was about to bring Chidori down on Knives' head he was sent flying as he was
about to strike a tree he rebounded and headed back for Vash and Knives. Kagome had no
further luck since she was sent crashing in the ground near Kyo and the dead Yuya. Yahiko
almost nicked Knives but the energy being exerted sent him spiraling upward into a tree. During
this time Kyo let Yuya down onto the ground and his anger was rising. The hatred was boiling in
him more so than when Akira was killed by the King.
Vash broke free of the grip that Knives had him in as Naruto was sent flying back into the
tree. The gunman was searing with anger. He removed his red jacket and tossed it to the ground.
He wore a black tattered shirt that was dirtied from years of travel. Vash loaded his gun in
seconds and removed his glasses. His eyes were contorted into a vicious scowl. There was no
Vash, only the machine. He smiled and licked his lips and began smiling. He pointed his gun at
Knives and fired a shot and even before he could blink he was at Knives' throat with a knife.
"What makes you think that I won't kill you for your sins, brother?" asked Vash
savagely.
"Hehehehe. Be assured little brother that you will never kill me," replied Knives
arrogantly. He just stood there looking at Vash and the knife directed at his throat.
Vash was about to make a slash across his brother's throat, but Knives' eyes darted off
towards the right. Vash turned for half a second and he was flying in the air knocked
unconscious. In the seconds that he was at Knives with the knife he failed to notice that Naruto
was even there. Vash's body landed with a thud.
"I'm sorry my friend, but I can not let you break your vow," said Naruto solemnly.
He brought his arm back down to his side and stared at the murderous man that was known as
Millions Knives.
"That is so sweet," replied Knives sarcastically. Naruto turned to Knives and
punched him which sent him flying into several trees. Naruto gathered up his chakra into chidori
and went running after Knives. When he finally caught up Knives, who was 20 feet away from
the original camp, was sprawled on the ground laughing. The ninja stepped on a log in his path
and flew 15 feet in the air and directed his chidori towards the ground.
As he was about to make contact with Knives somebody stood alongside Knives and
blocked Naruto's attack with a sword. Naruto looked at Kyo in horror and before he could say
anything he was on the ground in a world of pain. Kyo slashed him in five different areas on his
body so that Naruto would not be able to engage Knives in battle.
Knives was sitting on the ground now and said, "Thank you Demon Eyes Kyo. You may
have saved my life, but I will still have to kill." Kyo directed his sword down towards Knives.
"I have business with you. You killed Yuya for no reason," replied Kyo coldly.
Knives' face lit up by Kyo's words.
"Ahh. So the Demon Eyes does care for somebody besides just himself." Kyo
brought the sword down into Knives' stomach. The sadistic killer began laughing madly. "That
will be the only hit you will take on me." Knives began to laugh up blood.
The killer slowly got up and his eyes were psychotically beautiful. Knives' energy began
to take the forest ground apart and the mist seemingly began to vanish. Kyo turned and struck
but Knives took up the sword before Kyo could land the hit and punched him in the face. Kyo
showed no reaction to it and punched the man right where he afflicted the wound. Knives gasped
for half a second and took out a gun that was hidden on his waist. He pulled the trigger and a
bang erupted from the gun. Kyo brought up his sword and swiftly cut the bullet in half.
Kyo disappeared and the only thing that could be seen is a distortion in the mist. As he
reappeared in front of Knives he brought his sword swiftly down onto him, but he was stopped in
his tracks by a wall. Knives began smiling menacingly. He brought his arm out and pushed the
barrier and sent Kyo flying into the air. Kyo launched himself from a tree and back towards
Knives with intense vigor, but he stopped midair.
"You have killed everybody you have ever loved Kyo. Just give up and die. You
are a failure, weak. Your existence is that comprised solely of anger and loneliness." Kyo's
intensity went blank. He threw his sword down onto the ground and held his head.
"GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!!" exclaimed Kyo. He began shaking madly with
laughter. His crimson eyes seemed to even go a deeper shade of red.
Knives stared at him puzzled by this turn of events.
"You are a fool. Did you really think you could make me feel bad?" Kyo
continued laughing but in the depths of his mind he knew that Knives spoke parts of the truth.
"HAHAHAHA!!! I'm tired of toying with you. You tire me; I suppose that I
should kill you and go for Naruto."
"How could an idiot corrupt the Mibu?" Knives stopped laughing at this and his
smile turned into a scowl.
"How dare you? I will show you how I did it?" Knives brought forth his arm with
the gun and his eye rolled into the back of his head. The gun rapidly began to change into
something that appeared to be more powerful and dangerous than ever before. At this time
Knives appeared to be giving off his energy into the gun causing it to grow ever bigger than
before. "HOW DO LIKE MY ANGEL ARM FOOL !?"
Kyo knew that whatever it was, was something that held a considerable amount of power.
He began to summon up the energy for his final and most powerful technique, Kouryu. I wish I
had my body, thought Kyo, it would be even more powerful than it is now.
Knives pulled the trigger to the Angel Arm by the time Kouryu was near completion.
Kyo went into the massive ball of energy. The energy from the gun began to expand and the
forest was virtually going up in flames even from the sight of the energy ball. The four gods
guided Kyo into the ball and it began to tear his clothing and body to pieces. Kyo's rage and
tenacity kept him going through the energy and he had stop it from decimating everybody that
was still alive. Kyo got to the barrel and Knives.
Kyo, surrounded by the very essence of the four, swung his sword down and a slash of
golden wind came from and knocked the arm upwards into the air. The slash did more than that;
Knives was slashed from front to back and began bleeding rapidly. His finger unclasped the gun
and the gun proceeded back down to its normal intended size. He fell down to his knees and
began laughing madly, coughing up blood, and then he fell into the Earth dead. Kyo was no
better off. The energy and will it took him to get through the massive ball of energy took its toll
on his body. Infact there was virtually nothing left of his sword Tenro. He began coughing up
massive amounts of blood and he was covered in wounds. Kyo began to lose consciousness and
he passed out into the dirt. His body was consumed by the flames.
The forest by this time was consumed in flames. Naruto woke up with a gasp for air.
Smoke was traveling through his lungs and he knew if he stayed here any longer than him and his
friends would all die. He wearily got up and located Yahiko, Vash, and Kagome. He woke up
Yahiko and Vash. He pulled Kagome's body onto his shoulders.
"We need to go now," replied Naruto, directing this statement towards his friends.
A tree crashed behind them and they were running through the forest. They didn't know what
they were running to but they knew that if they stopped running then they would eventually die.
They saw the charred corpses of Knives and Kyo.
Yahiko pointed off towards the distance and saw a glimmering light. It was the sight of
another world.
"Keep running," said Naruto. Then he heard it the sounds of wicked voices
coming from behind them. They were moving fast but he knew that these voices were catching
up. The fire was all around them and he did not even know how these beasts could keep up with
him. They kept running faster and faster. Less than a hundred feet. 75 feet.
The forest became nothing, but a burning inferno that if they stopped then they would be
consumed by the flames. Flaming spears began coming down all around them, but they kept
running and running. The vicious voices began taunting them. Several massive burning trees
crashed infront of the portal just as they reached it.
"Yahiko, go first over the trees and into the portal," said Naruto quickly. Yahiko
turned and looked at Naruto. He nodded and jumped over the trees and went into the portal.
Naruto turned to Vash and told him to go into the portal. Vash stepped in front of
Naruto and just as he was about to jump a spear went whirling through his abdomen. The beast
at the other end of it dragged him back into the flames and he was screaming as he was pulled
into the inferno. Naruto stared in absolute shock.
"NARUTO SAVE ME!!!" screamed Vash and slowly his voice became drowned
out by the flames. Naruto turned towards the voice and just as he was about to follow a tree
crashed infront of him. He was blocked. He turned grimly and took a step toward the burning
tree blocking the portal and sadly jumped over it and into the next world.
Vash heard nothing, but the fire waging through the forest. He could not hear his friends.
The only thing he heard was his harsh breathing. Even the beast that wounded him was no where
to be found. He began hearing steps. They were just steps and he was pretty sure that they were
only part of his imagination. The steps slowly became louder with each passing moment.
Vash looked up towards where the steps were coming from. A man walked through the
flames. The flames seemed to part when he approached the flames. He wore black armor and
had short orange hair. He had a cruel smile on his face that had more personality than that of
Knives'.
"Who do we have here?" bellowed the man. He stood just before Vash with his
arms crossed
Vash looked emotionlessly into the man's face and said nothing.
"Lord Orochimaru shall be pleased."
Vash looked off into the distance bitterly with the knowledge that he was forsaken by
Naruto and his drive to kill Orochimaru. If only he stayed. If only......
