Chapter 7: Life Sucks, But It'll Still Go On

The lake was murky green out on the dock. Roxxane sat there wondering why she was out there. Then she'd remember that she had skipped school to be out there. And not just her. Alana, her best friend, and Kevin were there too.

And why? Because during lunch she felt that something really bad was going to happen to Jessica. So she skipped school with Alana, because she had a truck and the school was uphill in the middle of a forest, and kidnapped Kevin after telling his school that their sister had been in a terrible accident. They bought it.

And why were they at the lake? Not a clue. They were waiting for something to happen, but wasn't really sure what that something was.

Kevin really didn't mind, he was just playing in the sand [that wasn't really sand... it was little rocks] watching as the storm moved in over head. "Roxxane, are you sure you felt something here?"

"We should leave... that storm's gettin' pretty bad," Alana said, her arms wrapped around herself like it was cold. But that wasn't the case. It was humid... like the air was thick enough to cut.

Thunder rumbled over head, though no lightning struck, as Roxxane stared out at the landscape. "Just wait...." All the hairs on the back of her neck stood on end as the air seemed to crackle with electricity. Then all of a sudden it was like a balloon popped, the air stilled and returned to normal.

And then Jessica fell out of the sky and into the lake.

Kevin yelled out in words that an eleven year old shouldn't know and Alana screamed bloody murder. Roxxane, fearing the worst, ran down the dock and jumped in after her sister when she realized that she wasn't coming up.

Swimming down few feet she found Jessica just sitting at the bottom, staring up at the surface. Grabbing her with both hands, Roxxane kicked as hard as she could to the surface. Whatever happened to Jessica left her with no energy what so ever. They were both sputtering for air when they hit the surface, both Kevin and Alana waiting for them as Roxxane pulled Jessica to the dock.

Everyone sat there, trying to regain their breathe as Jessica laughed weakly, "The coolest thing I've ever done.... and I don't even know how I did it..."

Roxxane looked over at her sister, wondering what she meant, yelled, "What the fuck was that?!"

Jessica laughed again, this time much stronger, "Dude... I think I just teleported from the Horizon...."

"Why the hell would you do that??!!!"

Jessica rolled her eyes over to Roxxane, only because it was all the energy she had to do, and started explaining. "Listen..." she started, "A lot of bad shit is happening... just listen to me because I'm tellin' the truth."

"Jessica... what's going on?" Kevin didn't like when Jessica was being serious, it normally meant she was mad or something really bad was happening.

"I'm not your real sister. Don't say anything because I don't have a lot of time to explain. Mom told me everything, so I know it's true." Taking a deep breathe, she continued, "My real brother's here right now, and he's freaking insane and trying to kidnap me! He attacked mom and dad, and if it wasn't for the fact that Inu Yasha was there, there's a good chance I wouldn't be here talking to you right now...."

"...Who'd be stupid enough to attack a casino...?" Roxxane asked, ignoring Kevin when he began shaking her arm franticly.

Looking over Roxxane's shoulder she replied, "Him."

Roxxane turned around sharply to see Sephiroth standing silently on the sands in front of the dock. He didn't look too happy. Roxxane's hand flew to her mouth, the horror frozen on her face. "No fucking way..." was all she could think to say.

"Oh my god..." Alana muttered, just a horrified as her friend.

"Not just yet..." Sephiroth replied. He slowly began walking up the dock, his eyes never leaving Jessica as he strode towards them. "That was a stupid thing to do Jay; you don't yet know how to control your powers enough to move yourself like that."

"Listen jackass, I don't even know how I did that, so stop talking like you're all knowing damnit," Jessica yelled back, wishing she could move to flip him off. "And stop calling me Jay! My name is Jessica damnit!"

Sephiroth stopped halfway, a smile lighting up his features. "What your name is won't change what you are..."

"She can't be your sister; she doesn't have a number tattoo!" Kevin suddenly yelled, getting up to stand between the mad man and his sisters. He was scared, so very scared, but there was no way he was going to let anything happen to them. He was also happy that Jessica had let him play Final Fantasy VII, so at least he knew what he was talking about. The second being an afterthought to 'Oh holy crap I'm going to die!'.

Roxxane looked down at Jessica, looking for an explanation to what he was talking about. "There was a project where they were trying to create... I don't know super soldiers or something, anyway everyone in the project had a number tattooed on them... and since we're apparently related, Kevin thinks I should have one too. Mister psycho pants here has a number one on him somewhere..." Jessica was really tired and was having a little trouble remembering things but she was sure she got most of that right.

Sephiroth looked at Kevin, slightly amazed that a mere child was standing up to him. After Jessica finished speaking he turned his head ever so slightly to show the number tattooed into his neck before taking another step forward. "It was our father that headed the project named after Jenova..." Another step forward and the boy tensed, "And he did have time to give you a number before they tore you from me... it's located where the head and neck connect just above the hairline... a beautiful number two..."

Roxxane blinked for a few moments before blurting out, "Do you just like listening to yourself talk or something? Because you talk a lot..."

"I said the same thing to him, like twenty minutes ago!" Jessica agreed, quite happy someone else noticed that.

Sephiroth didn't listen to the two of them [Alana was still in shock]; he had stopped in front of Kevin who stood unmoving before him. Kevin looked up at him, his hands in little fists, hate written across his face. "I won't let you have her..." Sephiroth looked down at him, the contempt on the boy's face becoming deeper as he began laughing at him. Everyone in the area shivered, because it wasn't a pleasant laugh. It didn't last though, the moment he stopped laughing Kevin was hanging six feet in the air by his throat.

"Kevin!" Roxxane screamed as he struggled against the hand that was holding him there. She tried to run to him but Alana held her in place.

"Release the boy..."

Sephiroth turned his head, seeing that somehow both Sesshoumaru and Inu Yasha had managed to follow him there. But it was only the two of them so he didn't worry. He didn't even bother to turn to face them, he only tighten his grip on Kevin's throat. "You're persistent, I give you that. But your attempts to stop me are becoming a problem..."

"And you're becoming a pain in my ass, so we're even!" Inu Yasha looked over at the huddled group of people, confused on why they were there in the first place. But questions would have to wait since if they didn't act soon Kevin was going to pass out. Sephiroth finally turned and faced the two of them with his arm stretched out, the two brothers with their swords ready.

A shot echoed through the area, catching everyone off guard. No one had noticed Jessica stand up and take aim, shaking in effort as she tried to stay upright. Now Sephiroth was bleeding from a thin cut across the side of his face where the bullet had skimmed by. Jessica was seething, fire danced in her eyes until they glowed like the waters of a tropical island. She didn't care if they weren't related or whatever, no one touches her little mang! So she begged God and every angel she could think of [and that's a lot when you have a book on them...] to grant her the strength to stand up and stop the crazy bastard.

Taking a deep breath, she moved the gun an inch to the right, not for a second leaving the shocked face of her so called brother and said, "You know what? I think I'm tired of this game.... So you're gonna put my little brother down or we're going to find out if you can come back with a bullet in your brain!"

The shock disappeared from his face, replaced by what Jessica thought looked like contemplation, but the look passed and he all but threw Kevin at her feet. He was blue around the edges and gasping for air, but otherwise okay.

“Fine...” Sephiroth finally said and irritated/bored expression on his face, “I will give this to you since you know no better. You have three months to say your good byes... after that you will return with me...” He made like he was going to walk straight into the lake, but then disappeared just as his foot stepped over the water.

The gun dropped from Jessica's hand the moment he was gone, all the adrenaline in her system dropping since the threat was gone. She barely took a step before she dropped to the ground right on top of Kevin [and somehow not crushing him in the process]. All she could think to do was tell him she was sorry over and over again while she fought the urge to cry. Kevin kept telling her to shut up.

"What the fuck were you kids doing out here?" Inu Yasha yelled finally breaking through all the shock with his well timed words. "I can understand how she got out here, but weren't you in school today?!"
Roxxane stood up, Alana had let her go to let her made sure Kevin was okay, and poked the man straight in the chest and yelled, "I skipped okay?! I came here because I thought something bad was going to happen, and it's a good thing I did!" Roxxane pointed down at Jessica, who was lying on the ground on her back again, and continued, "When she fell out the sky she sank like a rock to the bottom! If we weren't here she would have drowned or worse!!"

Inu Yasha was shocked, he didn't think she was going scream at him over something like that. Inu Yasha tried to say sorry but his brother beat him to it when he walk over to Kevin and began checking his neck. "I'm sure the half breed meant nothing by it since he was the one that was supposed to be keeping you sister safe in the first place...." Sesshoumaru commented at he gently poked at the bright red skin on Kevin's neck. "It is nice to see someone inherited the gift of foresight from you father. But my question is what did you do to cause him to attempt to strangle the life out of you?”

“He stood in his way, for the most part,” Jessica mumbled. “Then he said that me and Sephiroth couldn’t be related.”

Sesshoumaru looked down at Kevin, who had his head down because he thought he was going to be in trouble, and patted the boy on his head. “You did the right thing.”

“Yeah, if you hadn’t stopped him Inu Yasha would have had to explain to dad where I was!” Jessica laughed, thinking the whole thing was funny as hell.

“Hey! Is that anyway to talk to the person that saved your ass?!” Inu Yasha yelled back, slightly miffed that everyone was blaming him for what happened.

“If you think you did such a great job, then why is she half dead on the floor?!” Alana asked, trying to keep her friend from killing what ever was yelling at her.

“Good point Alana…” Roxxane seconded as she tried to pulling Jessica. After a few moments of pulling she managed to get her up, though she couldn’t stay up on her own so Alana came over to help hold her up.

Inu Yasha was quiet for the most part aside from grumbling about ‘nosy women’, he helped Kevin up and offered to carry him home. Kevin told him he wanted to walk. Jessica was letting him carry her gun home and he wanted to be able to walk for that. Neither Sesshoumaru nor Inu Yasha asked about helping Jessica, Roxxane wouldn’t let them near enough to help. Which was fine with them, it only meant that it didn’t matter where her sister had come from.

After a quick explanation to Alana on who and what they were they were finally ready to leave [Roxxane was still a little upset that Alana left her car back at their house…], Inu Yasha turned to Alana and asked, “Where both your parents human?”

Alana stopped at the end of the dock, staring at him rather confused. “I think so, why?”

“Because I didn’t know a human could have tits-”

Inu Yasha never finished. Sesshoumaru promptly threw him into the lake for even thinking the question.

... ... ... Yes... I'm ending the chapter here. Once again it was getting to long so I chopped the long part off and made it it's own chapter. It's hard to figure out how long something its in Word Pad, no word count makes things hard.

Reviews would be cool, but it doesn't matter cause this story is still goin' strong! Yay for slacking off at work!
