Chapter 11:
Christmas Party
The limousines drove up the long and fancy driveway to drop off their passengers, then continued on their way. Finally Satoshi's limousine drove up, and the man in a tux opened the door for Satoshi, and another man opened the other side for Daisuke, who awe in astonishment. There was a grand stairway that led up to the front doors, and men in fancy suits stood at every step. Satoshi stood at the foot of the stairs for while Daisuke stared, then he lightly coughed to reawaken Daisuke from his day dream. "Oh, sorry."
Daisuke walked to Satoshi's side, and they began their way up. Once disappearing behind the doors that led inside, another limousine drove up caring the one person that Satoshi prayed wouldn't be arriving. "Good evening, miss," said the man as he opened the door.
A young woman stepped out, Riku Harada. She walked away from the limousine as her sister followed right behind her. "I don't know why father made us come to this banquet," said Riku, "I'd much rather have stayed at home."
"Don't be so pessimistic. You never know, it could a lot of fun."
"Risa, fun for you is going to strip clubs, and watching women, not men, strip."
"Hey! Just because I prefer girls to guys doesn't mean you have to be so mean about it."
"Ok, let's not get into that subject. Homosexuality really freaks me out."
"Riku. You shouldn't think so badly about it. And I'm not a lesbian. I'm bi."
"Bi people are so greedy. They can't seem to make up their minds between which genders they desire."
"Stop saying such things. And you wonder why we haven't been hanging out for a while."
"No. We haven't been hanging out because you are bi."
"How could you be so mean!"
"And frankly, I feel much more comfortable being away from you than close to you."
"Fine. I see how it is," Risa pouted.
Inside the mansion, the many guests gathered on the dance floor for socializing. Of course, Satoshi knew that if he was to go and socialize, Daisuke would run off on him. Almost every second that Satoshi turned around, Daisuke was giving him funny looks, and he, himself, looked like something was wrong. "Good evening, Master Hikari," said anther gentlemen.
"Good evening, Sergeant Brown."
"I take that you've been doing well in your new position?"
"Yes. I have."
"You're quite outstanding. Word has reached my ears of your impressing outcomes. I would love for you to move to join the army and work for me."
"Hm. It's a nice invite, but I'm happy doing as I am now."
"So, tell me, Master Hikari, has the young commander found a lover?"
Daisuke's ear twitched. "Finally! Someone who has asked about Satoshi's lover! Now I must listen in..."
Daisuke stood right behind Satoshi so he could hear, and Satoshi knew exactly this was what Daisuke wanted to hear. "Actually, Sergeant Brown, I don't."
"You don't? How can this be? There are so many women that are in love with your good looks. It can't be that hard for you to find a lady."
"It's lust. They lust over my body. It's a mere attraction to the body, not for me. I want someone who can see past my good looks and find the person in me."
"Ah. Well answered."
Daisuke pouted. "Whom does he love!"
The sergeant and commander exchanged bows, and went their way; Daisuke, following behind Satoshi. A few more people came up to Satoshi and began asking about Daisuke. Satoshi only said that they were friends, and nothing else. However, as they began to walk, Daisuke began to cross his legs every time, and even jumped up and down a few times. Noticing this, Satoshi asked, "What's wrong?"
"I have to go..."
"Why didn't you tell me earlier?"
"Because you were so busy talking."
"If you have to go then just tell me," Satoshi lead Daisuke away from the crowd, and to a long and wide hall where the bathroom was. "I'll wait out here for you."
Daisuke ran in, and after a few minutes, he was out. "Feel better?" Satoshi teased.
Daisuke narrowed his eyes at Satoshi, "Wouldn't you like to know."
"Come on then. They will be serving dinner shortly, and then there will be dancing."
"When will this thing be over, Hikari?" asked Daisuke.
"Just a little after midnight. Why? Are you bored already?"
"Yes. I wanna go home."
"Stop complaining like a two year old."
Daisuke crossed his arms, "I thought you would do whatever I wanted."
"And you want to go home?"
"Yes."
"Daisuke, we just got here less than forting minutes ago."
"So! I want to go."
"We don't have any means of transportation."
"What!"
"We can by limousine, and that limousine isn't coming back till twelve fifty-one."
Daisuke looked at his watch, "Nine to five."
"Great... I have a few hours to go."
Satoshi turned around and started to head back to the crowd with Daisuke following, but then a bell rang, and someone announced, "Dinner is prepared."
Soon, in an orderly fashion, everyone made their way to the dinning room. "What will they be serving?" asked Daisuke.
"Duck, fish, lobster, pork, chicken, lamb, beef, right about everything."
"I don't like lamb. It's too sweet."
"Neither do I."
Satoshi and Daisuke sat down on the men's side of the table, and the women seated themselves on the other side. As they seated themselves, Satoshi was thinking of something to talk to Daisuke about. However, right when he was about to engage himself in a conversation, he heard the voice of the she-devil, "Ohmigod! Daisuke!"
Daisuke looked up and saw Riku standing on the other side of the table, "Riku! I didn't know you were coming!"
"I didn't know you were here!"
Risa came up from behind and said, "Hi Daisuke, and good evening Hikari."
Satoshi was not thrilled to see Riku. Risa, he didn't mind, "Good evening. What brings you two to the party?"
"Our father is a good friend to the mayor, and because he couldn't make it, he sent us. He's trying to get one of us to marry the mayor's son," said Risa."
"Riku, you aren't gonna marry him, are you?" asked Daisuke.
"Of course not! I'm going to marry you, Daisuke," smiled Riku, "I wouldn't marry him for all the money in the world."
The two girls seated themselves on the other side. Daisuke immediately engaged himself into a conversation with Riku about their marriage, "I want to get married in Europe," said Riku, "Like at the cathedral."
"That would be so nice," commented Daisuke, "We can do that! And we can have our honeymoon in France."
"Yes. I can just picture my dress. It'll be made of sateen silk, long, white, elegant and suave. I want it custom made! I want it to be designed by the greatest wedding dress designer in the world!"
"We can do that too," assured Daisuke, "and I won't make you pay for all of it. I'll even fully pay for your wedding dress."
"You will!"
While Daisuke and Riku continued babbling on, Risa noticed that Satoshi was awfully quit, and carried a sad look on his face, "What's the matter, Hikari?" asked Risa.
"Hm?" Satoshi looked up, "Oh, nothing. I'm fine."
"Are you sure? You don't look fine to me. Is everything ok?"
Satoshi answered truthfully, "No. Not everything is ok."
"Oh. I'm very sorry to hear that."
"It's ok. It's not your fault."
"Don't mind me asking, what is it that is troubling you so?"
Satoshi looked over to Daisuke for a second, "Something that I can't discuss openly."
"I see."
Soon, the watermen brought out the salads, and afterwards, the soups. A Ceasar Salad followed, and Minestrone soup came soon after. Daisuke hadn't been eating for more than two minutes when suddenly, he drop his spoon in the bowl, and looked over to Satoshi. Satoshi stopped eating his soup, and sensing that something was wrong, he asked, "Is something wrong?"
Daisuke nodded, but not to attract attention, he didn't say what. Satoshi was about to ask what, but then there was this faint sent of urine in the air. Satoshi's eyes widen, "What did you do?" Satoshi asked in a whispered tone.
Daisuke pushed back the table cloth that draped over his legs, and Satoshi gaped. "You wet yourself?" Satoshi asked in a hushed, but threatening tone.
"I'm so sorry," Daisuke was about to cry.
"Don't cry...," Satoshi knew he was gonna anyways. His sudden mood changes wouldn't allow him to hold back, "its ok."
"But I just went, Hikari," a tear slide from his eye, "I didn't even have to go."
"Please, don't cry here..."
"But Riku and Risa are sitting right in front of us. They'll see and so will everyone else, and I'll be so embarrassed."
"Don't worry, I'll-"
"What's wrong?" Riku cut off Satoshi.
Daisuke was about to burst into tears. However, Satoshi just smiled and said, "Personal issues."
"Daisuke and I have no secrets," said Riku.
"Yes, but this isn't about Niwa," lied Satoshi.
"Really? Is this true, Daisuke?"
Daisuke tried not to make eye contact, because he was already lightly crying. "Please, it has nothing to do with Niwa," Satoshi dismissed.
Riku began drinking her soup again, and Satoshi turned to face Niwa again, "If we don't do something, everyone will be able to smell it...," whispered Daisuke.
"It's ok. Now listen, this may be embarrassing, but it's the only way no one will suspect that you wet your pants."
"Ok..."
"You see your glass of water?"
"Yes."
"I need you to purposely spill it."
"But..."
"Would you rather spill the soup?"
"No..."
"Just do it, then excuse yourself to go to the restroom and dry off. I'll follow."
Daisuke nodded, and following the procedures, he reached over, as if to grab the glass of water, and as he did, he tilted it, and it spilled across the table, and over his pants and seat. Everyone looked up, including the Harada twins. "I'm so sorry," said Daisuke, "May I excuse myself to dry off?"
Without waiting for a reply from the host of the party, Daisuke got up, and headed for the bathroom. "I'm such an idiot!"
Daisuke scolded himself while he reached for a towel. Ohmigod, Daisuke! HAHAHAH! You wet your pants! I don't think I've ever had a tamer that wet his pants! AAAHAHAHAHH! You're too much, Daisuke! Dark could have died of laughter.
Daisuke had removed his pants to dry them off, but then he heard a knock at the door. "Yes?"
"It's Satoshi, open up, Niwa."
"No! You pervert! I'm in my boxers!"
There was silence for a few seconds. "We're both guys."
Daisuke sniffed, "No!"
"Are you crying again?" asked Satoshi through the door.
"What do you care!" "Why am I crying! Augh! I hate these mood swings!"
"Niwa, theses accidents happen when..."
"Don't say it!" Daisuke sat on the bathroom floor, brought his knees to his chest, and wrapped his arms around his leg as he buried his head between his legs and chest.
"Niwa. Please don't cry..."
Daisuke didn't answer. "Please open the door."
"Even if I do open the door, you can't help with anything."
"Ni..."
"You can't comfort me with an embrace, you can't place your hand on my shoulder, or on my head, and I don't want you touching my clothes neither. Remember, you promised to never touch me."
Satoshi gave up trying to convince Daisuke, and instead leaned against the bathroom door.
"There is always something separating him from me," Satoshi felt the door against his back, "Always..."
A few minutes later, Satoshi saw Riku coming around to the corner. "Great. She's the last thing I need to see."
"Hikari, is Daisuke in there?"
"He's busy drying off. He needs sometime alone."
"All he did was spill some water over his pants, and he's been gone for like fifteen minutes."
Satoshi didn't respond. Riku then knocked on the door, "Daisuke, it's me, Riku."
Daisuke lifted his head from his knees, "Riku?"
"Please don't be embarrassed by a little accident. No one is perfect, and we can't start dinner without you, Daisuke."
"No. I'm not coming out until it's time to go home."
"Daisuke, what is with you today? You're acting like a child."
"So what."
Riku raised a brow, "So that's how you want to play? Fine then. I guess I'll have to look for a new lover, because I don't want a child for a lover," with that, Riku marched away.
"Huh!" Daisuke grabbed his pants, and threw them on, "Wait, Riku!"
He opened the bathroom door, but it was too late. Riku was gone, and the only one standing there was Satoshi. "Why does she threaten me like this?" Daisuke asked himself.
Satoshi didn't respond. "Have you been waiting here the whole time, Hikari?"
"For you, yes...," Satoshi looked up at Daisuke with pain in his eyes.
"Huh? Did I do something to upset you again?" asked Daisuke.
"It doesn't matter. We need to get back to the party before dinner gets cold," Daisuke nodded and followed Satoshi.
After dinner, everyone returned to the ball room and they were already playing dancing music. Of course it was all only classical music that the boring adults dance to. Satoshi looked at Daisuke, and even though you couldn't read it on his face, he was dying to ask Daisuke to dance, but males had to dance with females, and he had promised not to touch Daisuke. So far, he has been able to refrain from touching him, but how much longer can he hold out? "Do you want to sit down?"
"Sure...," Daisuke walked towards the lined up seats, and sat down.
Satoshi sat next to him. "I hate these mood swings, Hikari."
"I know, Niwa."
"I'm scared, because what if I'm with Riku again, and she gets me mad, and I cry? Or, what if I strike? I can't hold back when they switch. And I hate being depressed all the time. I'm scared..."
"I'm here for you, Niwa," usually when Satoshi said this, he would rest his hand on Daisuke's back, but that no touching rule kept him from doing so.
Daisuke was about to say something, but suddenly his body jerked forwards, and without warning, he vomited. The music continued, but the people stopped dancing, and stared at Daisuke as he continued to barf what he had just eaten. What they had all eaten. The worst part was that Riku was one of the people staring. She had been dancing with Saehara, but that awful noise of someone vomiting caused them to come to a halt.
"Daisuke?" she ran from Saehara.
Satoshi didn't know what to do, but one thing was for sure, Daisuke was crying again. Whispers started to fill the air, and the only thing Daisuke could think of doing was running. He got up from his seat before Riku could reach him, and ran back to the restroom. This time, Satoshi didn't follow. What reason did he have to? Daisuke wouldn't allow his comfort, and would ignore him as he did before, but Riku chased after him as fast as she could. The whispers grew into loud talk, and everyone excused themselves into the garden to get away from the faint stink of vomit. Satoshi lingered around for a while longer then instead of escaping into the garden, he climbed a fleet of stairs to a small balcony that hung over the dance floor where someone would stand to make a speech. He stayed there and watched as the maids came to clean up the vomit.
"Daisuke, open up!"
"No!"
"Daisuke, what's wrong?"
"You saw what happened back there!"
"Daisuke, accidents happen."
"Yes, but not like this!"
"Are you sick?"
"That's the thing, Riku. I'm not sick."
"Then what's wrong? You love sick?"
"No...," Daisuke rubbed his stomach..., "I'm pregnant..."
"Please open up."
Daisuke opened the door, and Riku stepped in. "Did you rinse your mouth?"
"Yes."
"Good," Riku placed a peck on Daisuke's lips, "Don't worry about it. Maybe the food just made you sick."
Daisuke was about to nod, but then he felt something hot and wet running down his legs.
"Oh no! I didn't just do that again!"
"Riku, can you step out for a bit?"
"Ok."
Riku did, and Daisuke closed the door. He unzipped his pants, and shook his head, "Why did Satoshi invite me. I've had nothing but trouble."
Did you just wet yourself again! Ohmigod, Daisuke! That's twice in one night! HAHAHAHAH! I'm never gonna let you hear the end of this!
"Just shut up, Dark! Damn pants... they won't dry!"
"Daisuke, are you alright in there?"
"Uh..," "Think of something!" "Riku, I'm sorry, but I'm not feeling very well. I think I'm going to barf again. Just wait for me in the garden, please."
"Ok. If you say so," Riku left, and Daisuke continued his attempt to dry his pants.
About a half an hour later, Daisuke submerged from the bathroom. "This time, they better stay dry."
I just can't wait to find out what klutzy accident you are gonna do next!
"Shut up, Dark. I don't need this from you now."
Daisuke had barely entered the ballroom when something came flying at him and...
WHOOSH!
Daisuke had fallen on the floor, and Riku laid over him. Satoshi gaped and was about to run down to see if Daisuke was ok, "That stupid head... She doesn't even realize what she could have done,” Satoshi growled.
Daisuke was completely stiff, and felt like his entire insides were gonna come out. "Damn! She could have seriously injured my baby!"
"Riku, please get off me!"
Riku flinched, but got off Daisuke anyways. "What took you so long?" Riku asked.
Daisuke rubbed his stomach, "Please don't do that ever again."
"Why?" asked Riku.
"Because you can really hurt me like that!"
"Oh come on. Be a man."
"You really can't call Daisuke a man," Satoshi whispered to himself.
"I try to be... wait...," "I wasn't suppose to say that!"
"What do you mean by that?"
"Nothing... Um.. Do you want to go outside?"
"But everyone else is out there. Why don't we just stay in here?"
"Ok, and do what?"
"Dance."
"To what? There isn't any music playing," said Daisuke.
Suddenly, as if on cue, music began filling the air. Riku didn't waste another second; she grabbed Daisuke, and forced him to wrap his arms around her. "Come on, hold me," she pulled his body against hers and ran her hands along his back.
Daisuke did love Riku, but being so close to her when he knew there was something in-between him made him feel uncomfortable. Noticing his hesitation, Riku asked, "What's your excuse this time, Daisuke?"
"Huh?"
"I'm sorry that I have to be so direct, but I don't like how you've been acting towards me lately."
"I don't know what you mean."
"You've been yelling at me, you've been acting like a child, you don't want to be near me anymore. I don't like any of it."
"I'm sorry, Riku! I don't mean any of it!"
"If we are to end up together, I don't want to have a man that acts childish. I want a man who will be strong and protect me when there is danger. I want a man who will be dominating, and not scrum to everyone's need."
"I promise I'll be that man for you, Riku."
"Then hold me, and dance with me like the many times we've done before."
Daisuke smiled, "Ok," he whispered.
"Why is it that I'm always there to witness these things between them," Satoshi asked himself.
It just happens that you are in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"But why...?" Satoshi asked himself.
Well now you might be seeing it more than anything else, since you've invited Daisuke to stay with you, Krad whispered.
"My heart; it hurts so much, Krad... I need someone to take it all away..."
Let me be the one, Satoshi, Krad wrapped his arms around Satoshi and lightly bit his ear, I've offered my love, and I continue to. If you would just accept me, then there wouldn't be this feud between your heart and reality.
"I can't..."
I'll satisfy your craving for lust.
"That's not what I need..."
Then what?
"Something you can never give me."
The sound of the music lured people back into the ballroom, spoiling Daisuke's and Riku's fun. "Ah, did they have to come back. Stupid old people," Riku muttered.
"It's ok, Riku. We can go out into the garden now if you want."
"Ok," Riku said as Daisuke grabbed her hand and led her out of the ballroom.
Seeing them leave, Satoshi followed. He wasn't about to let Riku be completely alone with his pregnant red head. Daisuke led Riku to the rose garden where there were only a few couples holding hands, and were walking while they talked. He searched for a place to sit down, since he was feeling uneasy again. He found a marble seat by a pond, and they sat there.
Satoshi, mean while, had hidden himself behind a tree that was just far enough not to be heard, but he was close enough to hear what they were talking about.
Daisuke was quite for about two minutes then Riku started up, "Hey, do you want to spend Christmas with me, Daisuke?"
"I'm not too sure if that is a good idea," responded Daisuke, "I won't be able to ever show my face around Riku again if I wet myself the way I did today..."
"Why wouldn't that be a good idea?" Riku asked while she stood in front of Daisuke and placed her hands on her hips.
"Because...well. There are some things that you don't know, and ..."
"Some things that I don't know? Daisuke, we aren't suppose to have secrets."
"I know, but this one... um..."
"You promised that there wouldn't be any exceptions."
"Yes, but Riku, this one is different. This isn't like any other secret..."
"A secret is a secret. What more is there to it?"
"But... I.."
"Spit it out!"
"I'm um.. pre... Uh..."
Satoshi noticed what subject they had gotten into, and knowing that the air head would babble about anything, he came out of hiding. "Hurry up. I don't have all day," Riku demanded.
"There are some things better left unsaid," said Satoshi, "and this is one of them," he switched his attention to Daisuke.
"Hi.. Hikari?" "He came just in time! Wait... was he eavesdropping?" Daisuke thought to himself.
"Oh, I see how it is. You'd rather tell Hikari all your bad secrets, and tell me only what you feel comfortable telling."
"Stop making it harder than it is, Riku. This isn't like anything else... I don't even know how to explain it..."
"I don't want to hear it," with that, Riku turn around, and walked away.
"Riku!"
She didn't respond, instead, she ran. "Come back!"
Daisuke was about to get up to chase after Riku, that is, if Satoshi didn't block his way,
"Hikari, what are you doing?"
"Just let her be!"
"Huh...," Daisuke backed down, "Did he just yell at me...?"
Either he's pissed off about you always having problems with Riku, or he's seriously jealous that Riku loves you instead of him.
"I know what you were about to do, Daisuke. You were about to tell Riku about our secret..."
"No.. I would never..."
"I was watching, Daisuke. I knew that if I didn't say something, you would have spilled the beans!"
"Watching.. You mean you werespying on us!"
"I wouldn't exactly call it spying."
"Then eavesdropping! What were you thinking, Hikari?"
"Think about it, if I didn't then who knows what you would have told her!"
"I don't like people spying on me when I'm with my girlfriend!"
"And I don't like people that try to pry the truth from people."
"We aren't suppose to have any secrets, Hikari."
"Then tell her, and see what she says. Didn't she tell you that she wanted a man!"
"I am a man!" Daisuke yelled.
"Give it a few more months, and everyone will think you are a woman."
"But I'm not!" Daisuke complained.
"Then tell me how it is possible for you to become pregnant?"
"I don't know! Not even the doctors knew!"
Daisuke grasped his head in his hands. He felt a major headache coming on. "I don't know... I didn't even know it was possible."
"Niwa...," "Can I touch him without him hitting my hand away...?"
Feeling hesitation with every inch close, Satoshi reached his hand out to Daisuke, "Don't touch me!"
Satoshi immediately withdrew. "Niwa... I..."
"Do you love Riku?" Daisuke asked as he looked up at Satoshi.
"No."
"Then why do you seem so jealous every time I am with her?"
"Why do you consistently ask who I am in love with?"
Daisuke didn't answer his question. Instead, he ran away from Satoshi. "Wha... Niwa, wait!"
"Just leave me alone!"
A slave to his will. That's what you are, Satoshi... You promised to obey his every word, and you are already screwing up.
"Screw this then," Satoshi chased after Daisuke, but after Daisuke ran into the mansion, Satoshi lost him. He stood at the door way for several seconds looking around for his red head beloved, but there was no sigh of him. Suddenly, someone tapped him on the shoulder. Satoshi spun around and saw Risa, "Harada, did you see Niwa?"
"Yes," she smiled, "He just left with Riku."
There was a moment of silence, and the bell rang. It was finally Christmas Day.
