Episode 10 - First Sign of True Anger
“Without Italics is Japanese.”
“With Italics is English.”
“With Italics and Boldis French.”
I guess I was stupid to ever come back here; I've endangered all the ones I love and unwrapped feeling I thought I'd gotten over years ago. I don't want to be in love with her anymore, not more then a friend at least. After I left I did everything I could to get her off my mind and finally I did, then I go and fuck it up by visiting her and getting shit-faced with her, oh God, please don't let us have slept together! Well... NO! She's nothing but a friend, that's all she will ever be. That's all she can be, period.
The man's thoughts were interrupted as a voice spoke to him…
“Hey, how are you holdin' up?” Amy asked him. Amy was a very beautiful American girl, as Daisuke said before though, she was now a Japanese citizen and spoke fluent Japanese, most of the time she spoke English though. Her hair was dark black and short, her eyes a light green and occasionally slightly grey. She was skinny and kind of pale, but not dramatically. To simplify it, she was damn good looking.
“Considering? Shitty... but for the sake of a normal conversation, I'm fine how about you?” His face held a fake smile, Amy was Daisuke's back-up right now, not that he fought it, he didn't like the idea of a protection escort, but he enjoyed her company most since she actually talked with him and not to him.
“Oh Ryen- er Dav-”
“Just call me by the name you know me as, I still answer to it.” He smiled at her as the sun briefly withdrew its light as they passed underneath a bridge.
“Right, Ryen, I know you don't want us around and you hate that we have to, but-”
“Amy, I don't hate anyone or anything, but the Goddamn bitch that's caused this, I don't mind ya'll being here, I just don't like why you're here. I'd rather the team to be just visiting.”
“Well, if it makes any difference I couldn't wait to see you again, I know it was only a month or so, but I missed you a lot.” Amy looked away slightly embarrassed. “So where are we going anyways?”
“Well my friends are having a welcome home party for me. You'll get to meet the people that were in my life before I joined the ATD.”
“Should I really be going?”
“Sure a couple of them know about the ATD, to the other's you're...uhhh. Hmmm, well, screw it you're my girlfriend I met while I was overseas, you were visiting Miami and I met you there, and now you're back in Japan. How's that?” She looked away and blushed, just saying that's fine or something close to it.
The new car Daisuke bought, pulled into a parking lot with all his friend's cars parked there, some he didn't know, he assumed some, like Cody, that didn't have a car when he left, got one. He and Amy got out of the Fairlady 350 Roadster. (Nissan 350 Z Special Edition Convertible) He bought three cars with his money, because somewhere in him he wanted to show off. One though is just a sedan he said he'd use most of the time.
It's almost time for sunset, but the day was still alive for awhile and besides the inside of the building did harbor lights and Sankt Gallen! (Japanese Beer) Daisuke was pretty much ready to get inside, only thing he was dreading was all the questions, but that's what the beer was for. Didn't matter know anyways, he was past the point of no return, the doors were open and the “couple” was walking inside.
“And there he is the one who made this all possible!” Tai yelled making sure everyone there knew he was there too. So then all the greetings came from the friends Daisuke hadn't seen in years, well for the most part. Then the party finally started, the music started, as did the drinking of course.
So far everyone had been introduced to Amy Fisher; she borrowed a last name from a character in her favorite show, Six Feet Under. Since, unlike Daisuke, she used her real name, she couldn't reveal it to them. The only person that hadn't been introduced was Kari and Daisuke wasn't going to push it.
“So Amy how'd you learn Japanese?” Tai asked her, Daisuke walked up behind him.
“Same way I learned English, she taught herself.” Daisuke smirked at Tai's confused face.
“I didn't know you spoke English Davis.” It was now Daisuke's turn to be confused and surprise. “I had to learn for my job, why did you learn?”
“As you said job related.”Finally Daisuke had the upper hand.
“Haha, alright, you beat me. What is that, French?”
“Yea, I learned a good bit of languages for my job.”
“Well, boys I'm going to get another drink, want something?”
“Yea, just another beer please.” Daisuke asked.
“Me too if you would be so kind?” Tai asked politely.
“Ryen, you could learn something from him about manners.”
“Oh haha, very funny, same to you, ya know.” Amy put a look of fake shock on her face before laughing and turning.
“So you really like her huh?”
“Well, I didn't think I'd ever see her again and I can't be with Kari, besides I think I really do like her.”
“Why can't you have Kari?”
“Well, like I told her, I made a lot of enemies in my line of work.”
“So, I know a couple of other ex-ATD who have normal lives.” Daisuke once again had the look of complete shock on his face, “Oh please, if you didn't think I'd have found out why would you have told me your pass level? I do work for the U.N. you know.”
“Right, well I didn't think you were at the level that you knew the ATD even existed.”
“The guy who runs the Japanese division is right next door to me.”
000000000
“Hi, I think you're the only person I haven't been introduced to yet.” Amy said as she walked up behind Kari, who jumped slightly. “Sorry I didn't mean to startle you.”
“Its fine and I noticed that Davis didn't really try to introduce me.”
“Yea, so did I, well I'm Amy Fisher.”
“Well, I'm Hikari Yagami.”
“So you're the girl Davis couldn't shut up about for the longest time, haha, he told me all about you.”
“Nothing bad I hope.”
“Oh no, he told me about you and one of his friends got together and how happy he was about it. He said you were one of his best friends.”
“Wow, I didn't know Daisuke thought of me like that.”
“Yea, he did, he complained about how he wished he could've found love so young.”
“Heh, hardly love, we're divorced with a kid.”
“And you can be in the same room and be civil?”
“Yeah, we both knew we wanted something different so we just made an agreement. Holidays we stay together for my little girl. You wanna know something funny though?”
“Sure.”
“Heh, he's dating Davis' sister.”
“Well, that's…interesting.”
“I know right.”
“So I see you two finally met.” Daisuke said in English.
“Yes we did, no thanks to you.” Amy replied.
“Wait, that's English, when did you learn that Davis?”
“During the time I was gone. It was needed for my job.”
“So did you need something, we were talking.” Amy said smug-like to Daisuke.
“First my beer you came over here to get and I need to talk to Kari about a job.” He told her, she tossed the beer that was unopened to him.
“Sure, I'll go give the other one to, Tai?”
“Yea, Tai, by the way.” He grabbed her and gave her a short kiss; if she hadn't perfected quick thinking she'd've had a look of shock on her face. As she walked away she grabbed the note Daisuke slipped in her pocket.
Ryland called, all activity has died in this district, there's something major about to happen. We're probably going to have company, find Tai, Yolie, and Ken, explain the situation. They're cleared, full brief, quick, we're going to have to get them out of here. Also, sorry about the kiss.
“Fuck.” She muttered under her breath.
“What's wrong?” Tai asked behind her.
“We've got a problem...”
