AUTHOR'S NOTES: Hehehehe! We all gotta love Kouichi and Duskmon :p What amazes me the most is how I somehow made Kouichi turn from some insane nineteen year old who thinks he can teach a hamster to fetch a ball to some sort of brave fearless hero who dare tackle a guy with gun in the space of one chapter…
…how come I get a feeling that no matter which way I view him, when Kouichi's true personality is revealed in Frontier…I'll be way outta character *LOL* :p Never mind, that's the fun of it!
Well I'm going to bed now… it's almost half one in the morning and I gotta go to sleep…new Pokemon/Zoids/Yu-Gi-Oh episodes in the morning and Evangelion and Nadeisco in the afternoon…

DIGIMON: The Pure Darkness

LAST EPISODE:

RIKA: - When Kouji accidentally evolved to Garmmon he began to attack the people he held closest to his heart and was about to make mincemeat out of them if I hadn't come along with my new "Spirit fusion" look of DarkLady Sakuyamon... and I looked totally bad ass ^_^ I think I'm going to enjoy this "Spirit fusion" thing!

Episode Three: - "The Noble Darkness! Duskmon's Re-Birth!"

It was an unusually warm day in early October and Rika was sat under the shade of a tree on a patch of grass near the dorm apartments. She was staring down at her Advanced D-Scanner with great interest, thinking of the events of a few days ago.

"I wonder what's going on?" she wondered out loud. "Something's going down around here, I can feel it"

"Why don't you ask those people from a few nights ago? They might know," said Renamon, whose voice was coming from her digivice. Rika just sighed and looked up at the dorm apartments.

"Yeah...maybe"

Sat on the end of his bed, Kouji looked down at his D-Scanner, which he held in his hand and sighed.

"Why would you make me do something like that Garmmon?" he asked it as if he expected response but he knew one wouldn't come, not by its self anyway, he needed to find out what caused his B-spirit to act that way himself. With that he stood up slowly, biting his lip as pain shot through his right leg and made his way out of his bedroom.

In the kitchen Junpei, Takuya, Ken and August were all sat around the table as they watched Kouichi play with Kouji's hamster. As kouji approached them kouichi looked up and gave his brother a huge smile.

"Hey I taught Huckleberry a new trick" Kouji remained silent as he crossed his arms and leant against the refrigerator. Kouichi turned back to the hamster and got out a small blue ball and waved it in front of the hamster's face.

"Now go fetch!"

Kouichi through the ball across the table, then it fell off the other end and bounced onto the floor... the hamster just watched the ball fall off the table then just began washing its self.

"Oh wow...it's really going for that ball fast" Kouji remarked sarcastically. "Maybe it's time for the hamster to go back in his cage"

Kouichi sulked then reluctantly picked up the hamster and took it back into Kouji's room. Kouji sat down slowly on the seat kouichi had been sitting in, gave out a huge sigh and placed his head on the table.

"Not feeling much better ey?" asked Takuya, making Kouji lift his head up again. The injuries he had sustained from rika a few days ago were now painfully apparent on Kouji. He had a huge dark bruise under his left eye and he still couldn't walk properly on his right leg. His eyes were also slightly bloodshot from the lack of sleep he had had these past few nights...he just had too much to think about to sleep.

"So any thoughts on why my B spirit did what it did?" he asked the others. Takuya and Junpei exchanged glances then together they brought out their own digivices...both glowing.

"You said yours was glowing too, right?" Takuya said to kouji, as kouichi joined them again. "Well last night ours started doing the same"

Kouji looked at the two devices with interest, they were surely reacting the same way as his D-Scanner was...

"The spirits..." he finally said. "...they seem restless to me, maybe even scared"

"Scared?" asked Junpei as he put his D-Scanner back in his pocket. "Of what exactly?" Kouji didn't reply to his friend's question, he just sat back in the chair and began to think.

"Well if they are scared of something...it could explain why that garmmon thing of yours, Kouji, acted the way it did" began August. "I mean I don't know much on these digimon, but I know if your scared enough, you can become violent in an attempt to escape from it"

Kouji nodded slightly in agreement to August's suggestion. As the group fell silent Kouichi, who was stood around the back of them, pulled his black D-Scanner slightly out of his pocket... his wasn't glowing...or doing anything...but why were the other spirits affected and not his.

Just then there was a knock at the door. Kouichi, being the only one stood up, decided to answer it. When he opened the door he spotted Rika on the other end who just glared at him.

"ARGH! IT'S THE QUEEN OF THE UNDEAD!!!" Kouichi screamed and was about to slam the door in rika's face but Rika just pushed past him knocking kouichi to the floor.

"Jerk!" she sneered, before turning to the other's at the kitchen table who were all watching nervously. "Thought I'd come around to see how your doing or...whatever!"

"Er...thankyou...I think" remarked Kouji.

Kouichi just pulled a face at Rika behind her back as he picked himself up off the floor.

"Don't pull faces at me jerk!" Rika snapped, without even turning around.

"Wha...? How did you know...?" gasped Kouichi.

"I see ALL!" was all Rika said. Kouichi just sneered at Rika before grabbing his skateboard, which was by the door.

"I'm going! I'm not staying while Goth girl is here, she's freakin' me out!"

With that he left the dorm slamming the door behind him, making everyone cringe in the process, well except Rika that is.

"I wish he wouldn't slam the door like that," sighed Kouji.

Kouichi had decided to skateboard to the college cafe, he was hoping he could find something interesting to do there while Rika was at Kouji's dorm; there was something about her he didn't like.

As he began to see the College courtyard in view Kouichi suddenly got the sense that something was following him, quickly he turned around, but nothing was there. Then he realized that he was still on his skateboard and wasn't looking where he was going. He spun his head around only to see himself quickly heading for a girl in the middle of the pathway. She seemed to be looking at some book in her hands so wasn't aware he was coming towards her.

"ARGH! WATCH OUT!" Kouichi yelled, making the girl look up, who instantly screamed, dropped her books in shock and covered her eyes. Kouichi desperately tried to veer his skateboard around the girl, but in the process he lost his balance and fell off landing on the hard concrete ground on his back.

"Owie" Kouichi cringed as he just lay there with his eyes tightly closed, waiting for the pain in his back to go.

"Are you okay?" came a sweet voice from above him. Kouichi slowly opened his eyes to see the girl he had just tried to avoid stood over him with a look of concern on her face. Her head was partially blocking out the sunlight from the sky so it almost made it look like there was an aura around her.

"Did I die and go to heaven?" Kouichi asked looking a little dazed, the girl just giggled at him.

"Don't be silly"

The girl held out her hand so Kouichi took it and she helped him up off the ground. She then handed him his skateboard.

"Yours I believe"

"Heh! Thanks" replied Kouichi, blushing slightly. He then noticed that the books the girl had been holding were all over the floor so he quickly knelt to the ground to help pick them up. The girl did the same as him and picked up the books nearest to her. As she did she noticed something around Kouichi's neck, which had come out from underneath the shirt he was wearing, she stopped and looked at it for a few seconds as it sparkled in the sunlight. Kouichi looked up to see her staring at him and lifted one eyebrow with a questioning look on his face.

"Erm... you okay?"

"I was just looking at that around your neck" the girl replied, pointing to the small gold chain around Kouichi's neck. On it was just a small golden tag. Kouichi smiled as he lifted the chain in his hand.

"It's something my brother and I have...," he explained. "...we didn't get along very well when we were younger but one day we decided to try and act more like brothers and become closer...we got these chains to represent that..."

"How sweet" remarked Kari, she then held out her hand again in order to shake Kouichi's hand. "I'm Kari Kamiya..."

Kouichi shook her hand and smiled. "Kouichi Kimura" He then looked up at the college cafe not too far from them. "How about we talk more over a spot of tea and cakes," he suggested in some fake posh English accent. Kari once again giggled to herself and agreed to Kouichi's offer.

In the cafe, all the students were going about their daily business. Some were just chatting over cups of coffee and others were desperately doing their college work. After getting their coffee and cakes Kari and Kouichi sat down at a table sitting opposite each other.

"So what course do you do here?" He asked her before taking a sip of his coffee.

"Childcare" Kari replied. "I want to be a kindergarten teacher"

"Oooooooh!" Cooed Kouichi. "Nice!"

"What about you?"

Kouichi just smiled.

"Music" he replied. "I play the guitar and write my own songs"

"Hehehehe! You'll have to play a song for me sometime then"

Kouichi just clenched his teeth nervously as a sweatdrop appeared on his head.

"I don't think you'll like my...erm...certain brand of musical taste"

"Why?" asked Kari. "It's not like your songs are about mutant killer bunnies or anything"

Kari just laughed at her own little joke, but Kouichi just remained silent, now looking even more nervous. Kari stopped laughing and saw the look on Kouichi's face.

"Oh... they are about Mutant killer bunnies, aren't they?"

"Erm...just the first few... hundred"

The two fell into an awkward silence and both began fiddling around with things on the table neither knowing what to say to the other. Then finally Kouichi broke the silence.

"So...erm... you...like...erm …. stuff?"

Suddenly there was a loud yell from behind them, both Kari and Kouichi looked in the direction it came from to see a guy a little older than them, holding a gun up to everyone in the cafe. He was shouting at everyone to get on the floor.

"This is gonna be one of those days" Kouichi groaned as he and Kari did as the man said.

"Huh?"

Kouji's head suddenly jerked up catching the others attention. They started to look at each other then back at kouji.

"What's wrong?" Takuya asked his friend. Kouji just stood up from the kitchen table, with a look of seriousness on his face.

"Kouichi's in trouble" was all he said before he bolted out of the door. The others watched him leave, looking pretty confused.

"That psychic twin thing is pretty weird, huh?" Junpei commented, before he and the others followed Kouji out of the dorm and down the hallway.

"ARG!" screamed Kari as she began to shudder with fear and hold her head. "I can feel it!" Kouichi just glanced at her nervously.

"This isn't a good time to have a nervous breakdown," he told her. He looked back to the guy holding up the cafe who was now approaching them.

"Shut her up!" he demanded, while pointing the gun straight to Kouichi's face.

"Heh! I would, but I can't find the off button" Kouichi joked. This only prompted the man to move the gun so that it was resting firmly at the side of Kouichi's head.

"Shut her UP!" he demanded again this time more harshly. Kouichi swallowed hard then turned to Kari who was still cowering.

"Erm...can you please be quiet so that the nice man here doesn't blow our brains out" he said to her, but Kari wasn't listening, all she could feel was fear.

"The darkness..." she whispered. "...I can feel it"

"Hey darkness isn't all too bad..." Kouichi told her, with a fake smile on his face, but that smile faded away as Kari continued on cowering beside him.

"That's it!" the man sneered as he placed his finger on the trigger of the gun. Kouichi just shut his eyes tightly, was this really the end of him?

"HEY!"

Kouichi opened his eyes to see the gunman's attention turned to somewhere else in the cafe. He peered around the seat he was behind to see an older student, maybe in his mid to late twenties, stood up a few feet away.

"Leave those kids alone" he snapped. "They've done nothing to deserve this"

The gunman just glared at the older man for a few seconds, which seemed almost like a lifetime to everyone in the cafe. Then suddenly the gunman lifted his weapon and fired at the older man. The bullet hit him in the shoulder, making the older man fall to the floor screaming in pain. The gunman watched as a few people nearest to the older man began to comfort him, a huge smile grew on his face as if basking in the glory of what he had just done.

Seeing his only chance while the gunman was paying no attention to him he quickly pounced on him knocking him to the floor making his gun fly out of his hand and across the floor. As he struggled to keep the man pinned down to the floor he looked up at everyone else who were just standing around watching in shock and horror.

"EVERYBODY! LEAVE NOW!" Kouichi yelled at them. The other people in the cafe at first didn't know what to do but eventually they all gradually left leaving just Kari, kouichi and the gunman in the cafe.

As everyone began leaving in a panic, Kouji and the others were just arriving, as were the police. As they put up some police barriers around the cafe Kouji just stood behind them, glaring nervously at the cafe.

"Oh Kouichi, what have you gotten yourself into this time?"

Inside Kouichi was still struggling with the gunman, but the nineteen year old felt his strength weakening against the bigger built man he was restraining and eventually the man was able to fling Kouichi off him, sending him sliding across the floor.

As Kouichi picked himself slowly up he was greeted to the sight of the man holding his gun up again, which he had quickly picked up while Kouichi was on the floor. He fired it once, but luckily Kouichi was able to move slightly away so it hit the floor only inches from his left foot.

"Eep! That was close" Kouichi gasped as he watched the small hole in the floor smoulder beside him. He then looked up at the man in front of him with determination on his face. He quickly jumped up onto one of the tables as Kari stood up slightly to get a better view of what was happening.

"That's it! It's time to teach this freak a lesson" Kouichi snapped pointing at the man in front of him.

"What?" yelled Kari. "Your gonna face this guy totally on your own and your calling him a freak?"

"No, not on my own" Kouichi told her; he then took his black D-Scanner from his pocket and held it up. "Duskmon will help me! Spirit evolution time!"

"Spirit evolution?" Kari repeated to herself. She had heard of the digi-destined's who could evolve into digimon themselves, but was this really the answer to this type of situation.

"But he's human..." Kari shouted at him. "... You'll might kill him if you attack him as a digimon"

"He maybe human..." Kouichi replied. "...but there's something un-human about him, you sensed that yourself...and that's the part I'm attacking!"

Kari fell silent realizing she had nothing more to say, she just hoped Kouichi knew what he was doing.

With that Kouichi held his hand up as the H-spirit of Darkness appeared around it and he quickly scanned it with his digivice.

"SPIRIT EVOLUTION!!!!" he yelled as finished scanning the spirit. Digicode quickly surrounded him, gradually turning him into the H-Hybrid of Darkness...

"DUSKMON!!!!"

Kari gasped then cringed at Duskmon's appearance, he defiantly wasn't the most appealing digimon for appearance but if he was going to help them both escape from this mad man then Kari had nothing against him.

"Heh! Nice trick kid" the man sneered. "But not even those kinda magic tricks can stop me"

"Wanna bet" Duskmon snapped back as he lifted up his right arm which had the crimson blade in it. Swiftly he cut through the air with it creating a wave of crimson coloured energy, which ripped through the cafe towards the gunman. He stayed still, as if waiting for the attack to hit him, then moved away at the last second the crimson wave just missing him.

"Is that all you can do?" the man sneered at Duskmon. Duskmon just looked up at him and gave him an amused grunt.

"That's only half of what I can do"

With that he jumped high into the air and stayed there as the eyes on his body moved and looked down at the man.

"GEIST ABEND!!!" He yelled before beams of red came from the eyes and hit all around the gunman. He shielded himself as the floor began to explode around him. After the attack had finished the man opened his eyes slightly to see Duskmon stood before him through the dust in the air.

"He's stronger than I expected" the man thought to himself. "His dark energy is capable of almost rivalling my own..." Then his eyes narrowed as a sinister smile grew across his face. "...Just what I need"

When the dust cleared the man glared at Duskmon, still smiling, his dark eyes cutting through him like glass.

"You are a worthy opponent...," he said. "...until we meet again...Duskmon!"

Suddenly the man started screaming loudly as he looked up to the ceiling and opened his mouth. Duskmon and Kari watched on in shock as some sort of dark cloud came out of the man's mouth and flew out of the window. After the dark cloud had left the man just collapsed to the floor unconscious.

Duskmon de-evolved back into Kouichi and ran to help Kari carry the man out of the cafe.

Outside everyone were watching with anticipation, hoping the two kids inside would make it out alive, but every noise they had heard coming from the building made them lose a little bit of hope. Kouji and his friends just stood there, not able to do anything, the police wouldn't let them through the barrier. As another loud bang came from the cafe Kouji hung his head low, not bearing to watch anymore.

After a few minutes someone else in the crowd who was stood beside Kouji screamed and pointed towards the building.

"Someone is coming out," he announced, making everyone look up. Sure enough three figures were making their way out of the building slowly.

As the police ran up to them to take the man they were carrying off them and into custody, Kouichi just fell to his knees onto the ground trying to catch his breath.

"I think...that's enough excitement for one day," he told Kari, who just smiled and nodded at him. Both then looked up as they saw Kouji and his friends running up to them, except Rika, who had decided to stay behind the barrier and just watch.

"Are you okay?" August asked as the group stopped before the two of them and looked down. Kouichi paused for a while still trying to catch his breath then looked up at them and smiled.

"I'm fine" he replied. "But we probably would have been toast if I hadn't evolved to Duskmon and..."

"You evolved to Duskmon?" Kouji asked suddenly, interrupting his brother. Kouichi nodded. "And you had no problems controlling him?"

"Nope"

"Maybe it's just the B-spirits that are affected," suggested Takuya but Kouji shook his head.

"No I don't think so..." he then held out his hand to kouichi. "...give me your digivice"

Kouichi dug into his pocket, pulled out his D-Scanner and placed it into Kouji's hand. Kouji looked at it carefully then looked at his... only his was glowing. For some reason Kouichi's spirits were not affected by whatever his, Takuya and Junpei's spirits were affected by...

...but why? This was all starting to get very confusing, what was going on? Kouji knew the answer to that question would come eventually...

...but would eventually be too late?

KOUICHI - A strange virus begins to sweep the campus and begins to claim many victims. Meanwhile when Ken, Yolei, Kouji and August walk home from seeing a movie they are suddenly attacked by a giant crow monster. Is kindness the key to defeat it?
