Digimon Fan Fiction ❯ Goggles and Bunnies. ❯ Part 1. ( Prologue )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Disclaimers: I don't own Digimon or Sailor Moon R. Or the Key; The Metal Idol soundtrack.

Warnings: shounen ai. And Ugasi never got back with Mamoru after they broke up.

Daisuke: Purple Mist-san has so many fics on her word processor, finished and not finished.

Purple Mist: *sighs* And it takes a while to rewrite them all by hand 'cause I can't use my w.p. disks on my computer! *sobs *

Ken: In other words; she's asking for those who are waiting for her other fics to be updated, to have patients with her.

P.M: Yeah, in case my parents decide to get rid of it. Oh well, here's more Kensuke! And DiamondxUgasi to boot!

If it were possible, I'd choose to run away with you.

To the ends of Hell itself.

If it were possible, I'd choose to leave right away,

Running away through the darkness.

It's true… A glass labyrinth

Crossing, as through on a tightrope.

Yeah, everyone's a lonely wonderer

Traveling without a compass.

Just feeling one's way through,

Searching for warmth,

Walking through ruins.

The two of us together,

Maybe we can escape this hellhole,

Flying, perhaps; endless.

Even worse then death, I'd have to say is a sadness that won't heal.

Running away… It doesn't matter where.

I wanna run and run and run.

Running away… From my cowardly past self.

Well then, run through the rusted underground tunnel.

All you have to do it turn the key.

You can't go back once you've come this far.

The dice has been cast.

It's a spiral universe

Speed that feels like falling.

A living corpse like me chose this in order to live on.

Run away… The truth is that I keep chasing and chasing, and chasing.

Run away… Chasing after my new, true self.

Run away… The truth is that I keep chasing and chasing and chasing.

Run away… Chasing after my new, true self.

Daisuke Motomiya watched the water rush under the Nihonbashi Bridge. It was late. Too late for a boy his age to out by himself. Normally he should be home in bed sleeping soundly till he finally woke up around noontime the following Sunday. The only one sleeping soundly in his bed was Chibimon. Daisuke had quietly risen from his bed making sure he was careful not to wake his friend as he got dressed in a warm blue sweater, a pair of jeans, sneakers, and his trademark goggles before sneaking out of his room and out of his apartment. Not like his parents would notice anyways had they been up.

There was a full moon out tonight and the street lights on the bridge provided enough desired light for Daisuke's late night water watching. The burgundy haired boy looked up at the moon taking in her holy glow, hanging in the diamond sky like a perfect pearl.

" I wonder what it would be like to visit the moon? " Daisuke murmured.

" It's really pretty. Quiet, but pretty, " a voice answered him.

Daisuke turned to see Ugasi Tsukino walking up to him. Like him, she wore a pair of jeans, but a fluffy black turtleneck sweater. Her long blonde hair was free at the moment and cascaded around her shoulders and down her back like long, white gold in the moonlight.

" Couldn't sleep? " Daisuke asked as his best friend stood besides him on the bridge.

" Hai. A lot on my mind and most of them unpleasant, " Ugasi replied. She added with a frown,

" All of them, in fact. "

" You and me both, " the boy said.

" Tell me about them, Dai-kun, " Ugasi said, leaning back on her heels as she held onto the railing of the bridge walkway, swaying her free hair to and fro above the pavement.

"Oh, just the usual. The others comparing me to TK, saying what a worthless leader I am and how he would be better. I dunno, after three months of this I finally couldn't take it anymore. So earlier today I quit the team, " Daisuke said. He looked up at her, " You? "

Ugasi nodded, " Sounds like my day. Too much pressure to be the leader everyone should think I should be. Even Mamoru got on my case. Excuse me for only being fourteen. I didn't know I was required to suddenly become a fucking adult overnight. So I quit as well. I told Rei if she wanted to be leader so bad, then to go right ahead. I'll always be a sailor senshi, but not with them. "

" Yeah. Why is it out teammates think they're so much better then we are? Like they have no flaws? Being the leader isn't easy and add the pressure of your teammates who only just bring you down… It gets to be too much. You and I, we're only human, " Daisuke sighed.

" It hurts, ne? " Ugasi whispered sadly, " Makes me feel so alone. "

" At least we've got each other, " Daisuke said. He added after another thought, " So Mamoru's being a jerk still? That sucks. At least with Kari it doesn't hurt so much, but you and Mamoru…"

" But you really cared for Kari, " Ugasi interrupted, " Just because she didn't love you back doesn't make it not hurt any less when she bad mouths you. "

" I guess, " Daisuke said, " So did you find out who Rini was? "

" My daughter from the future, " Ugasi replied.

" Dude…" Daisuke commented, " And she's got a thing for her future daddy? Sick! "

" That's how everything started. Just a sprat between Rini and me about him. Rei had to get herself involves and things got worse from here. None of the others supported me. Just nothing… When Mamoru made a comment about his daughter being more mature then his girlfriend, I told him he could marry the incest princess… "

Daisuke snickered. Yeah, he knew all about Rini. He and Ugasi told each other everything the very first time they had met each other in the same park when both had had a fight with their friends.

When the Holder of Courage and Friendship saw Ugasi for the first time, she had been crying while being curled up in a tight ball on a bench. Her sobs sounded so alone that he felt a connection with the girl. Daisuke had walked over and handed her a Kleenex. Looking up at him, Ugasi saw a young teen boy with eyes like hers. Eyes filled with loneliness and longing to be accepted for who they were and not what people think they should be.

" Are you okay? " Daisuke had asked her. Ugasi shook her head and reached out to accept his offered Kleenex. The moment their hand brushed against each other, a spark was felt between the two. They had felt familiar to each other.

" You're friends… They don't treat you right too? " She had asked. Daisuke nodded, sat down next to her, and just started to talk about everything. The burgundy haired boy felt like he could tell this girl he had just met everything. After Daisuke finished, he sat back and listened to Ugasi in return.

From that day, Daisuke and Ugasi became each other's best friends and would met to talk; about their problems when the pressure got to be too much or to just talk like friends. They saw the good qualities in each other that no one else seemed to want to see or failed too. They also encouraged each other when the other needed it.

" … And that's right about when I told Rei if she wanted to be the leader, it was fine with me since I told them right then and there and I quit, " Ugasi finished. She snorted, " I swear, my enemies have more respect for me because all they care about is defeating me in battle. Not some ego pageant. "

Daisuke nodded, " Yeah. The best comment I ever got in my life was when the Digimon Kaizer, called me his worthy adversary. "

Ugasi smiled. True. Unlike the rest of the world, only she knew that Daisuke was rather intelligent underneath the personality the rest of the world saw. She also saw the boy's determination, strength, and loyalty towards those he called his friends. The blonde was the only one to know Daisuke acted like he did to get attention from people since he really didn't have a family. The boy was lonely and any attention was better then none, but now he seemed to of had enough of the negative attention.

" Well, the Kaizer's a smart boy. I guess he's the second person to look beyond what you allow the world to see, " Ugasi remarked.

" Kind of creepy if you ask me. The Kaizer giving me special attention rather then focusing his attention on the entire team, " Daisuke said.

" He's just keep a look out over his worthy foe," Ugasi replied, " Which is a good thing 'cause I know if you're given a chance to let it all go, you'd defeat him. "

Daisuke smiled, " Thanks, Buns. "

The two stood there on the bridge watching the water and talking a little more before the red head declared that he was hungry. " Think anything is open? " He asked.

Ugasi checked her watch," Well, it's almost one. Maybe. "

With that said, the two left and took a late bus and rode back into town. A twenty-four hour café was open. The two took a seat by the window and ordered a light snack with hot chocolate.

" So, Buns, what are you going to do about the Dark Moon Kingdom and the Wiseman? " Daisuke asked.

Ugasi sipped her drink. " Fight them. Even if the others are around I won't fight as part of their team, but on my own. "

" Are you sure you'll be able to do that? You've always had someone fighting along side you, " Daisuke said.

" I know. I think I've become too dependent upon another of bailing me out. When I first became Sailor Moon, I fought on my own, but Tuxedo Mask was always there in the background. Now it's time to see where I stand as a warrior. Will I be able to reply upon my own strength or that of others? " Ugasi replied.

" I know you can fight on your own, Ugasi. All it takes is your ambition to defeat your enemies for the good of your planet and the innocent people, " Daisuke said. The burgundy haired boy added with a smile, " And I'll be on your side to cheer you on. "

Ugasi smiled back, " Thanks, Dai-chan. "

" Hey, no problem, " Daisuke said. He yawned, " Guess I better be going home now. It's pretty late out. "

Ugasi nodded, " Luna will worry is she wakes up and finds me gone. You know how protective of me she is. "

" You are her ward, " Daisuke chuckled as he fished out his share of the bill. After paying for their bill, the two hugged each other and went their separate way to their homes.
