"This has to be the best coincidence in the whole world." Todd smiled, "I come home to Tokyo after an uneventful trip to London, decide to rob a convenience store to fund my next trip, get caught for once in my life, get sent here, and low and behold! My cell mate is the pretty boy I've grown to hate so much! Although...your ass does seem tighter than your little boy-toy's..."
Matt's eyes narrowed angrily, "Don't even think about it, fuckhead..."
"Too late." Todd smiled. "Better hope I'm clean."
"You'll never get your hands on me." Matt snarled.
Todd advanced on Matt but the blonde stood his ground. His original plan was to try and stay invisible to the other inmates but this asshole was asking for it.
"Y'know...." Todd smiled, just to rub it in. "Your boy made the cutest sounds of protest as I groped him."
That was it. Something inside Matt snapped and he jumped Todd with the ferocity of an abused animal. The blue-haired boy cried out in surprise. He obviously hadn't expected Matt to be so strong. Matt pounded on Todd while the other inmates shouted their encouragement. Todd grunted and punched Matt square in the mouth. Matt choked, blood ran from his cut lip. They thrashed on each other before Todd howled like an animal and jumped onto Matt's back. Matt twisted and turned-slamming Todd into a couple of walls before falling to his knees. With a triumphant laugh Todd reached down to cup Matt's crotch. Matt growled and bit into Todd's arm. The inmates were cheering and hollering. Matt wondered why the guards hadn't come yet. Todd was wailing and snarling in pain-trying to wedge his arm out of Matt's bite. Matt finally let go and elbowed Todd in the face-feeling the pervert's nose break under the force of the blow. Two stocky guards finally came rushing into the cell. They ripped Matt and Todd apart and held them steady.
"Enough!" One of the guards yelled. "What the fuck is wrong with you!?"
"We don't get along." Todd sneered-his face smeared with blood.
Matt didn't say anything. His left eye was already swelling shut and blood ran down his chin. The guards hauled Matt and Todd to the infirmary by their collars.
The nurse shook her head as she patched Matt up.
"Your first day in here and you've already gotten in a fight."
"I knew that ass from before. He practically molested my boyfriend..." Matt answered-wincing as the nurse stitched his chin and lip up.
"Ah I see. Well...I'm not really supposed to say things like this but...you totally whipped his ass." The nurse winked. "He had more injuries than you."
If Matt wasn't so sore he would have smiled, "Really?"
"The nurse nodded, "I don't lie. He was whining and complaining the whole time."
Matt let out a raspy chuckle. "Good. Glad I taught him a lesson."
The nurse laughed and checked Matt over again. "You're good to go, kiddo. Play nice with your new cell mate."
Matt nodded, "Thanks."
The guard that had held Matt shook his head and led Matt to his new cell. A kid, not much older than Matt, was sitting on the bottom bunk.
"Hey." The kid said as the cell door closed. "I seen you fight there. I'm impressed..."
"Uhm...thanks..." Matt said-unsure of what to say and scared to say anything.
"The name's White Snake...what's yours?"
"Uh...Matt."
White Snake laughed, "No street name??"
"No. I'm in here because of a bitter ex-girlfriend."
"Ah..." White Snake nodded, "The old 'I'm going to screw you over because you dumped me' bit. What'd she say you do? Rape her? Beat her?"
"She said I stole all her money and abandoned her..."
White Snake laughed again, "Stupid whore. That'll never hold up in court. She's stupid. She shoulda claimed you raped her. The court turns a deaf ear to the guy then."
Matt shifted uncomfortably-his head was throbbing, but he was afraid to lie down.
"First time in here, huh? You look like a scared rabbit." White Snake smiled-showing off his gold tooth.
"Yes...and hopefully the last."
"I hear yuh..." White Snake nodded. "This is my third time in jail."
"Oh...? What...are you in for?"
"Aggravated assault."
"Oh..."
"Ha. Don't worry. I ain't violent or anything...just got a bad temper is all."
Matt nodded, he kinda liked White Snake, but that didn't mean he trusted him. White Snake hopped off his bed and looked Matt over.
"Lesse here...blonde, blue eyes, good physique, personality...you're gonna need some protection."
"E-excuse me?" Matt stuttered.
"I like you. So I don't want no one raping you. I'd hate to see your fiery spirit be broken. Good guys like you are eaten alive in here."
Matt gulped, "So...uhm...how do I get protection?"
"Through me of course! I'll do it for free even-you won't have to sneak me smokes or anythin'!"
White Snake extended his hand, "You can have the bottom bunk too. The top bunk squeals like a bitch when you climb down the ladder so that way you'll know I won't be groping you in your sleep or anything..."
Matt hesitated then slowly shook White Snake's hand-he hoped he wasn't making a big mistake...

Tai barely set foot outside his room. He didn't care that it was "a nice summer day". He stopped taking his calls and started eating in his room. He only left his room to shower and use the toilet. Mrs. Yagami was getting very worried.
"I can't understand being upset for awhile...but he's acting like Matt is dead." She said.
"Mom..." Kari sighed, taking a deep breath. "I'm going to tell you something...but you have to promise you won't tell anyone...not even dad."
Mrs. Yagami stopped mixing her cake batter and looked at her daughter.
"I promise. I won't even tell your dad."
Kari took another deep breath, "Sora only said that Matt stole her money because she was mad that Matt was cheating on her with Tai and dumped her for Tai...."
Mrs. Yagami blinked, "My Taichi...and...Matt...are..."
"Yes..." Kari nodded.
"How precious!!" Mrs. Yagami gushed.
"Shhh! Mom! Tai would kill me if he knew I told!"
"Oh sorry..." Kari's mother blushed sheepishly. "What are they going to do?"
"I don't know. They're going to try and weigh some doubt onto Sora's story..."
Tai sighed heavily and fingered the frame of his favorite picture. It was a very hot Tuesday so he was wearing just some blue cotton shorts. He had his window wide open and he could hear the roar of the traffic below. Tai couldn't wait to go see Matt tomorrow. He hoped they'd be allowed to see Matt in a visitor's room instead of behind glass. He gingerly set the picture back onto his computer desk and looked out the window. He needed to get out. Maybe a walk in the park would be good for him...The brunette pulled on a white shirt and put his floppy sandals on.
"Mom! Kari! I'm going for a walk! Be back later!"
Kari and her mother exchanged surprised glances, but didn't protest.
"Hey Tai!" Daisuke called.
Tai turned to see Daisuke and Ken running up to him-holding hands.
"Glad to see you out and about." Daisuke grinned, "Ken and I were going for ice-cream. You wanna come?"
"Sure." Tai replied, smiling.
"Sora told us everything." Ken said quietly, "But we want you to know that none of the dds believe her. Sure they believe her when she's within ear shot but when she's not around we know Matt would never do anything like that."
Tai nodded, "Thanks. You have no idea how much that means to me."
"No problem!" Dai said, his usual idiotic grin on his face. "Now let's go get some ice-cream!!"

After ice-cream Tai said goodbye to his younger friends and went for a walk in the park. He picked a few sakura blossoms for his mother and Kari and made his way home.
"Hey mom. Hey Kar." He said, kicking his sandals off.
"How was your walk, dear?" Mrs. Y asked.
"Good." Tai replied, filling a rice bowl with water.
"Sakura!" Kari exclaimed, "My favorite!"
"Yup." Tai smiled, floating the blossoms in the rice bowl.
"They're very pretty." Kari said, admiring the dainty blossoms.
"They're Matt's favorite too." Tai said almost sadly as he made his way back to his room.

The nice summer day ended swiftly with a relentless thunderstorm. It was eight o'clock and Tai was sitting on his bed eating a late supper of octopus dumplings and fried prawns. He watched the lightning flash across the sky and the rain pound his window. A feeling of emptiness engulfed him. He would've liked to share this moment with Matt....

Matt tossed and turned in his hard prison bed. He had no idea what time it was. Lights out had occurred a little over an hour ago. He couldn't sleep. The storm outside was still raging and the prison was filled with so many frightening noises. He was still wary of his cell mate and didn't particularly like the thought of being molested in his sleep. Occasionally an inmate would yell or rant about something. Matt curled into a ball and whimpered. He hadn't slept the night before and it didn't look like he was going to sleep now.
