Chapter 10
Fall at the hands of darkness! Forgotten memories revealed!

Yasashii felt cold, not like when it's cold outside, but like a coldness only darkness brings. She remembered the last thing she said to Kouji for some reason.

"What do you mean?! Am I a girl you placed beside you to take somebody's place?!"

Tears appeared in her eyes as she opened them. She was in a cold place and she assumed it was a granite cave. 'It's cold... The darkness... Where's my light when I need him?!' Yasashii thought desprately. She soon detected movement.

"You're finally awake, I geuss that the sudden darkness was too much for you" Yasashii recognized the voice immeadiently.

"Duskmon..." she breathed. Her eyes got used to the darkness and Duskmon stood out as plain as day even though his armor was black also.

Duskmon chuckled. "Yes, it's me. Do you like my private lair? You're the only one other then me who's been here"

"Why did you take me?!" Yasashii demanded, fire in her eyes. Duskmon had to chuckle at this also.

"For someone's name which means "gentle", you sure are fiesty" Duskmon replied. A deadly silence fell upon them. "Tell me about Kouji" Duskmon asked all of the sudden.

"Why should I?!" Duskmon stepped towards Yasashii and grabbed her by her neck, not squeezing tightly for his knife-like jaw hands.

"Why did you come here?!" Duskmon whispered something inaudible and Yasashii screamed in pain, like someone entered her mind and was searching through it. In fact, that was precisely what the attack was.

Yasashii's eyes soon became lifeless and she was limp while Duskmon took in the memories.

~Flashback~
Seven year old Mizu Yasashii sat on the swings watching her 10 year old sister, Himoto, and her friends happily chat along. Other then them and herself, no one else was in the park. She noticed an adult man and a boy nervously walk up to the park.

"Kouji, I want you to stay here while I go to a meeting, you won't run off, will you?" The father said a little bit too roughly. The boy numbly shook his head at the adult who apparently was his father. The father went back into a car nearby and soon drove off.

Yasashii decided to see if the boy wanted to play. She took the small ball placed next to the swing and nervously approached him.

"Would.... you like to play? There's no one here but me and Himoto Onee-chan and friends. But they won't play with me"

The younger boy shrugged. "I geuss. I'm bored anyway" he answered in a deep voice.

"I'm Mizu Yasashii. What's your name?"

"Minamoto Kouji"

"Do you want to play ball?" The boy slightly smiled at the girl. He somehow couldn't say "no" to the girl.

"Sure" he replied. Yasashii threw the ball towards him and he caught it with ease. When he threw it back to her, she tripped and fell trying to catch it.

"Itai!" she whined. The boy quickly ran over and offered a hand to her. Yasashii accepted it and he helped her get up. She saw Himoto whisper something to her friends and they started giggeling uncontroably.

A few hours later, the two young ones had to go. "I hope to see you again, Kouji. I had lots of fun"

"Same here, Yasashii" The boy replied as they parted.
~End Flashback~

Duskmon's eyes widened as the searing pain through his head came back. "Kouji...." Duskmon whispered, trying his best to keep focus. 'How come I feel pain when I see him or hear him?!' Something gave him a boost of energy and he pulled through.

~Flashback~
Mr. Mizu looked worridly at the wolf pup who was struggeling. The jet black wolf pup had a very bad cut on his paw and he wouldn't let anyone near him.

"Otou-san?" Mr. Mizu turned to his seven year-old daughter, Yasashii. "Can I help?"

"I don't want to risk it, he could bite you if you got close"

"Please?" Yasashii put on her best "Ultimate Wolf Pup Face" as her father put it. Her father couldn't resist his daughters look.

"Fine, but be careful" the dark-haired adult gave in. Yasashii slowly approached the dog.

"It's okay, I'm not gonna hurt you" she cooed, drawing closer to the pup. The pup looked at her with big blue eyes. It stood still as she approached with the kit. She reached out and touched his forhead. Her father was flabergasted.

"I.... can't believe you did that" She bandanged up the paw, with only the yelps of pain coming from the wolf pup. Other then that, he was perfectly good for her. "Well, since you took care of it, why don't you name it?"

Yasashii thought a moment. "He looks like a friend back in Japan. I think I'll call him 'Kouji'"

"That's not a very common name, but it's unique to say the least" Kouji soon fell asleep.

"He's kawaii though, ne Otou-san?" Mr. Mizu nodded.
~End Flashback~

Again, a searing pain went through Duskmon as he searched through her memories. Why was it that so far all of them had Kouji in it?! But as last time, something gave him a boost of energy and he was able to go to the next memory.
~Flashback~
Yasashii saw the wolves ahead in the park, wrestling with each other. She smiled slightly as the wolf pups nipped at the alpha male, Kouji. Things were so peaceful sometimes, watching the wolves prance around.

But she saw someone approaching, someone who definately wasn't part of the patrol. "Who are you?" she asked as she approached him.

"Oh! Pardon me, little girl. I'm a photographer and want to shoot the wolves" the adult replied. Yasashii's face became hard.

"That's a lie" she said. "Father never lets photographers in" The man soon became enraged. He whipped out the gun and pointed at her.

"I think this little girl is too smart for her own good" he growled. He pulled the trigger. Yasashii stood frozen in fear. Kouji noticed this and lept forwards, protecting his wolf-sister(don't ask, I got it from Avalon~Web of Magic~). The bullet shot him.

Kouji fell onto the ground with a thump. Yasashii looked at Kouji with wide eyes. He was hurt, killed, murdered. She pressed a button earlier that warned the other patrols someone supicious was there. They got there a few seconds after Kouji was shot. They quickly tied up the man.

Yasashii's knees grew weak and they buckled under her. She collapsed onto the ground, and held the blood stained body close to her, sad not even describing what she was feeling. Tears streamed down her face in rivers and buried her face into the fur.

He was dead.
~End Flashback~

Even if it didn't have Kouji directly, Duskmon felt more pain memory after memory. He barely held on to her neck without hurting her before the next memory occured.

~Flashback~
Yasashii sighed as she plopped onto the bed. It was a long day, stressing her out completely. She heard a beeping noise. It was from her sisters cell phone. 'Might as well see who it is' Yasashii reasoned. She approached the cell phone on the counter, and saw something that intruiged her.

"Would you like to start or not?" Under it was "YES" and "NO". "YES" was flashing.

"What's this?" she asked. She re-read the message. She then remembered what happened two months ago. "Maybe... I can escape from all this" she whispered. She said "YES".

"Yasashii-chan. The game to decide your future has started" Yasashii picked up the cell phone.

"How do you know my name?!" Cordinates appeared on the screen. She shrugged. 'Might as well go along'. She grabbed her head-band and headed out the door, but she left a note behind.

She went from Jiyugaoka to Shibuya Train Station, and a red ticket popped out of the ticket machine when she got there. She shrugged and headed towards an elevator. 1, B1, B2, it soon started going lower then the basements! This started to freak Yasashii out.

The elevator suddenly stopped with a sickening lurch. The doors opened and it threw Yasashii out. "Itai" she muttered. She then saw many weird looking trains.

"This is the final decision: will you ride? Or will you return?" A symbol appeared on the cell phone screen. She walked towards a turquiose train and got on. As the train started moving, she saw someone enter from the back. She quickly hid behind a seat. She saw a familiar boy, with long dark hair in a ponytail, a blue jacket covering a yellow shirt, and a bandana on his head.

'He's really kakkoi' Yasashii thought and blushed slightly when he sat near where she was hiding. 'He does look familiar also...'
~End Flashback~

Duskmon couldn't stand the pain anymore, he let go of Yasashii and clutched his head. "What's going on?!" he demanded to no-one in particular. Yasashii soon regained consiousness and looked up at Duskmon. "What's with this boy Kouji?!"

"What did you do?" she asked. Duskmon didn't answer, grunting in pain. Yasashii knew something was wrong, even felt a little sorry for Duskmon. Yasashii shook her head. 'Why am I feeling sorry for Duskmon?!' But something, something attracted her to him, and it was a lot like the same attraction to Kouji. 'I can't like him in that way! …Can I…?' she thought fearfully.

But she didn't know that somebody like Kouji was Duskmon, but he was darkness and not light. She then saw a boy briefly shown through Duskmon's armor(with clothes). Yasashii's eyes widened.

"Who's… the boy that looks like Kouji-kun?" she murmmured, the boy dissapearing now. Duskmon gasped, then fell to the ground.

"Why?! Why?!" he kept repeating. Yasashii saw that he was distracted and she ran towards the entrance of the cave.

Yasashii saw a long drop down. "Spirit Evolution! Mizumon!" Thankfully, Mizumon could be suspended in air for a while. She jumped off the cliff and landed in a forest. She jumped to the top of a tree and scanned the horizon. "Mizumon Slide Evolution! Serphantmon!"

She knew she was wasting energy, but she needed to find the others. The laser went over her left eye and she pin-pointed Sefirotmon twenty miles from her location. "Serphantmon Slide Evolution! Mizumon!" Mizumon nimbly jumped from tree to tree until she got to the plains. She headed towards the huge ball thing which she saw shortly before she was captured.

It was dark around the ball. She saw Bokomon and Neemon trembling. "Bokomon! Neemon!" Mizumon ran up to the two.

"Mizumon!" Bokomon exclaimed happily.

"What's a Mizumon?" Mizumon sweatdropped at Neemon's stupidness.

"Where's everyone? No, where's Kouji-kun?" Mizumon asked worridly.

"They.... got sucked into Sefirotmon" Bokomon pointed to the ball digimon. "They're stuck inside" Mizumon growled.

"How do I get inside?!" Bokomon jumped up, suprised.

"You want to go in?! You may never get out!" Mizumon shook her head.

"I know, but I need to talk to Kouji-kun"

"But why Kouji-han? Can't it be Takuya-han or Junpei-han?" Mizumon shook her head again.

"It's because... Well, you probably don't know what it is, but it's because I love him. I said some nasty stuff to him and I need to talk to him"

"Is that why Kouji-han was so sad for the past few days?" Bokomon asked. Mizumon nodded.

"I never considered how he would feel" She then looked up at Sefirotmon. "Which sphere?" She then saw a portal open and saw a fleeting glance of Wolfmon beating Karatenmon. "Never mind" She jumped into the air and entered the portal.

"Be careful, Yasashii-han" Bokomon whispered.

Mizumon arrived in a dark sphere and reverted to Yasashii, drained of energy. "Kouji-kun..." What meant to be a yell came out as a whisper. She saw a portal open and then she saw Wolfmon. "Kouji-kun..." she said again, a bit louder.

Wolfmon saw the portal open up. He was about to leap through when he heard something. "Kouji-kun..." His eyes snapped open when he recognized the voice. Yasashii? He shook his head, thinking it was his imagination, but looked around just in case. He immeadiently saw a fainted girl.

Yasashii.

"Yasashii-chan!" he ran over to Yasashii, worry in his eyes. He knelt near Yasashii. She slightly opened her eyes.

"Kouji-kun" she whispered, before fainting again. He quickly picked her up and went through the next portal.

Yasashii slowly opened her eyes. She felt dizzy. How long had she been a digimon? A few hours at least. She tried moving, but someone held her still.

*Ai no Echuudo starts playing*

"Don't move" a deep voice said. She recognized the voice.

"Kouji-kun..." she whispered. Her veiw became clear. She found that it was night and a fire was going. Kouji was near her without his bandana on. She tried getting up, but he gently pushed her back down again.

"How many times do I have to say 'don't move'"? he joked. Yasashii smiled slightly.

"Look who's talking" she said, remembering how many times he protested when he was hurt. Kouji realized she didn't have that cold tone to her voice. IT was flowing like water, like he always known it.

"Are you still... mad at me?" he said uncertainly.

"Would I escape from Duskmon, travel at least 20 miles, and go inside Sefirotmon looking for you and still be mad at you? Kouji-kun, the reason I came was to say I was sorry. I acted like a bitc-brat and never considered your feelings. I must've hurt you really bad, maybe more then you hurt me"

"Yasashii-chan, you did hurt me. When you shouted at me, slapped me, punched me, it teared me apart. It felt like the only friendship I cherished crumbled apart. But I hurt you to, so no one is to blame. I forgive you, Yasashii-chan. But promise me one thing"

"Anything, Kouji-kun" Kouji smiled slightly.

"Never slap me again. I never knew you could slap so hard" Yasashii giggled.

"I'll try, but you know how mad I can get" She finally sat up(with Kouji's protests of course).

"What happened when you were with Duskmon?" Kouji asked.

"Well, he took me to his 'private lair'. He used an attack on me and searched through my memories, half of them I didn't know about. I can only recall Kouji-wolf's death and the reason I came here. The other two are mysteries" she sighed deeply. "What if..." Kouji put a finger to her lips.

"No more 'what if's', Mizu Yasashii. I won't accept that anymore" Yasashii smiled.

"Okay. Anyway, after he looked at my memories, he started screaming in agony. I could only understand 'why' and 'Kouji'. I escaped then"

"Yasashii-chan? I need to tell you something"

"You can tell me anything" Yasashii replied.

Kouji took a deep breath. "Yasashii-chan, you know you're the first person I accepted into my life. We became friends. I started protecting you with my life and I always got this weird feeling. Then I realized that I... Watashi wa... Suki... Wo ai... I... I lo... Never mind" Kouji cut himself off, overly blushing. "It's nothing"

Yasashii stared at Kouji. 'What was he trying to tell me? He used the same words, but what was he trying to tell me?' Yasashii shrugged it off, thinking it was nothing. She then blushed slightly, deciding to tell HIM something.

"Kouji-kun... I... Watashi wa... Wo a... Suki.... I lov... I.... Watashi wa... Wo ai..." she tried saying it, but found herself struggeling. "I lov... I... Never mind"

Kouji blinked, wondering what Yasashii was going to tell HIM. He shrugged. She'll tell him when he's ready.

Yasashii moved closer to Kouji, mostly because the fire was dying. But also because she wanted to be near him.

Kouji felt uneasy as Yasashii inched closer to him. Sure, he liked her company, but he still felt uneasy. Yasashii turned her head towards him.

"Is anything wrong, Kouji-kun?" Kouji hesitated before leaning towards her. He lightly brushed his lips against hers, but pulled away quickly, blushing heavily.

"Gomen, I shouldn't have..." Kouji sttamered, his eyes looking everywhere but at her.

"It's okay..." Kouji snuck one peak at her and saw that she was blushing heavily. "It's okay, Kouji-kun"

Fairymon looked down at her digivice. The two spirits of water flashed. She sighed.

'About time someone got that oban's digi-code' Fairymon thought as she lept through the portal. She landed nimbly on the ground, devolving when she touched it.

"Izumi-han~!!""Izumi-san!!""Izumi-chan!!" She turned and saw Bokomon, Junpei, and Tomoki run up to her.

"Minna..." She ran up to them. "Where's Takuya and Kouji darling"

"There still not here, but I did see Yasashii-han" Bokomon replied.

"Where's Yasashii Onee-chan?" Tomoki asked. Bokomon turned towards him.

"Yasashii-han went through a portal to look for Kouji-han" Junpei made his hand into a fist and puched it into her other hand.

"Is she stupid or something?! She might not get out, and maybe not find Kouji!"

"She better stay in there" Izumi spat. Tomoki and Junpei looked at her in surprise. "She better stay in there! She is the only thing that ruins me and Kouji darling's relationship"

"Izumi-han..."

"She always get's in the way! When I try to make a move, she butts in and takes Kouji darling away! I wouldn't mind if she didn't com-" a large hand came in contact with Izumi's face. She looked at the person in surprise.

Shibuyama Junpei actually slapped her.

Junpei realized what he had done and quickly pulled away. "Gomen Izumi-chan it's just that..." he took a deep breath. "I still can't believe you didn't notice it. Kouji doesn't like you. He likes you as a friend, but nothing more. It's obvious who he likes. You keep saying how he loves you, and then say he shouldn't pay attention to Yasashii"

Izumi couldn't believe what Junpei said to her. Her mind old her to scream that he was wrong, but something held her back. 'You know who he loves, Orimoto Izumi, but it's not you' a voice in her mind whispered.

"Look!" Tomoki pointed at something. A dark shape headed towards Sefirotmon and disappeared in an open portal. "It was Duskmon!"

"EI?!" Izumi exclaimed. She said something in italian before turning to them. "He's probably looking for Takuya or Kouji darling"

She then saw a dark fog come out of the portal and head towards the horizon...
