Digimon Fan Fiction ❯ Take a Turn ❯ Hurry Up! ( Chapter 11 )
Disclaimer: I don't own digimon.
I also don't own Empress of the Eclipse's band. She was just kind of enough to lend them to me, so thanks so much! Those who don't know her band, the members are: Gendo Ikari, Akemi Nakatsuru, Toshiki Miyahara, and Istu Katsuragi. You'll see them briefly in this chapter, and maybe even in the next.
Take a Turn
... Hurry Up!!
It had been three days since the incidents in the Digital World and two days since TK's been out of the hospital. He was spending time with Matt and Tai at the moment, but not really with his own free will. Matt was like a hawk now, not letting TK strand too far away from him.
"Please?"
"I don't want to."
"Please? Come on, I'll even give you a tip."
"A tip? Huh?"
"Later," Matt said, lowering his voice.
Tai's eyes lit up. "Oh, a tip."
"I'm not stupid. Tai, just go buy Matt those snacks so it will shut him up," TK said effortlessly, turning his gaze back to the window.
Tai and Matt both frowned, passing a glance at each other. At this, Tai rose.
"I'll be back in a bit." In a few minutes, he had left the house.
TK watched Tai cross the street and go into the store. He knew Tai would be back in a few minutes.
Matt walked over to TK and gave a light squeeze on his shoulder. He wasn't quite sure how to handle his brother at the moment, but he really didn't want the younger blonde to become depressed.
"Matt, how's your back?"
"Fine."
"Have you even disinfected it properly?" TK asked.
"I've taken a shower, of course."
"Properly, Matt. Go get the ointment from the bathroom. I'll do it if you don't want Tai to see."
Matt nodded and walked to the bathroom, only to return a moment later with a clear ointment. He handed the tube to TK and sat on the couch next to him.
"I can't believe you haven't even done this yet. Is it really bad?"
"I'm not sure."
"What?" asked TK.
"I haven't looked at it yet," Matt said quietly. "When I went to, I couldn't bare to see the damage he did."
"Oh. Take off your shirt."
Matt did so and TK gasped.
"Shit Matt..."
Matt winced and groaned.
"I-I'm sorry."
"TK, spare me. It's just cuts on my back. Hopefully they won't scar."
"You better hope they don't."
TK's words were stinging more than his back. Just how bad was it? He stood up and began walking to the bathroom.
"Matt, maybe you shouldn't..."
TK's voice was lost when Matt turned around and looked over his shoulder at his back. He was lost for words at what he saw; even though the letters were backwards due to the reflection of the mirror, it didn't take a scientist to figure out what it spelled. KEN'S. The letters showed on his back marked that he was Ken's.
By that time, TK walked slowly to the bathroom and peered in. He frowned at the expression on Matt's face. Matt's eyes were glazed as he stared at his back.
"I can't believe this," he said slowly, staring back at TK.
"Matt--"
"I can't believe he did this to ME!" Matt screamed.
TK winced at his brother's shouting. Cautiously, he walked over to Matt and put his hand on his shoulder.
"Don't touch me! Look what he's done to me!" Matt shouted, blinking away tears that threatened to fall.
"Matt, what's wrong?" Tai demanded, running into the bathroom. He gasped when he saw Matt's back. "You-you... Ken touched you too?"
When Matt didn't move, TK nodded uncertainly.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"I couldn't," Matt muttered.
"Why? Because you enjoyed it?"
"Excuse me?" asked Matt, his head lifting to meet Tai's gaze.
"You heard me. Why haven't you told me?"
Matt looked away.
"How dare you!" Tai yelled. "How dare you say you love me when you keep secrets away from me!" He ran out of the bathroom.
TK and Matt spent a moment listening to Tai run out of the flat and slam the door. They stayed where they were for a moment before Matt walked out of the bathroom and went into his room. TK stood dumbfounded where he was.
Was this it? Has Ken really got the best of them?
**~**
Tai stormed into the house and slammed the door, which sent Kari looking up to wonder what was wrong with him.
"Kari, go talk to your brother. He seems upset. Tell him I have some fungus cookies in the oven," Mrs. Yagami said, closing the oven door.
"I... uh will." Kari said, knocking lightly on the door. "Tai?"
"Just go away, Kari."
Kari ignored her brother and waked into their room, sitting on the bottom bunk. Tai was laying on his bunk up top.
"This is about Matt, isn't it?" she asked softly. Tai and Matt had told her about their relationship since TK knew.
"Yes... Kari, you know about TK, right?"
"How he was raped?" Tai nodded, and she continued, "Yeah, TK told me a bit about it," she said. "Not much detail, though, and I never expect to hear more than what I know."
"TK wasn't the only one," Tai said simply, sighing.
"Matt too?"
Tai sighed again, nodding. "That isn't the worst part, Kari. He... his back it has Ken's name engraved on it."
"What?! It actually says 'Ken' on it."
"Not just 'Ken' it has the 's' on there too, so it's as if Matt is owned by him," he explained, shuddering slightly. "I can't believe that monster dominated my Matt."
"How did you react when you saw his back?" Kari asked, seeing to how angry her brother was over the situation.
"I got angry at him and fled."
"Tai! You can't do that to him! God knows what he and TK went through when they were there. You go back to that apartment and apologize this instant!"
"That doesn't make it all right, Kari! Matt didn't even have the decency to tell me about him and Ken's encounter! If I hadn't seen his back, he would have probably never told me!"
Kari sighed, shaking her head at her brother. "Look what he's done to us."
"Who? Matt?"
"No! Ken. He's made us all upset. I don't know what was with Matt's dad towards the situation, but he was accusing Matt of something to do with TK being raped."
Tai thought about it for a moment. "You're right. He was. I guess I'll ask later."
"That's if you go apologize."
"Okay, I'll go later, Kari," Tai mumbled. Though the more he thought about it, the more he felt like running back to Matt's apartment and apologizing. Then maybe they'd snuggle up on the couch, something that begun happening over the past few days a lot.
Now that Tai saw it, Matt was a bit edgy whenever Ken would come into topic of conversation. He had taken it that he was angry at Ken for what he did to TK, which probably adds to it, but he's also hurt to what Ken did to himself as well. Kari was right, he did mess them all up.
**~**
Matt was miserable. He didn't come out of his room for nearly a day after Tai had gotten mad at him, and what made matters worse, was his father had locked up his digivice inside a cabinet that he didn't have the key to. He needed to get it back and somehow make up with Tai.
He knew he would somehow work things out with Tai, but every time he thought about his back, it sickened him. It would probably scar and not only that, but TK wanted him to go to a doctors to make sure it wasn't infected. How exactly would he explain why Ken's name possessively was written on his back? He couldn't go to the doctors.
His mind wondered back to his digivice. How could he get it back? How? Matt sat for a moment, thinking. When he shifted his leg, he accidentally hit his guitar. That gave him an idea.
**~**
Davis walked into the room, plastering a smile on his face. He had been doing that a lot over the past week. He had to; the others couldn't know that he, too, slept with Ken. It was obvious TK did, everyone knew that. He was pretty sure the Digidestined assumed Matt did too. He did anyway. Nobody seemed to see the connection that he slept with Ken too, and if they did, nobody's asked him yet, which he was internally grateful for.
"Hey Davis. How's it going?" Kari greeted.
Davis sat on the bed next to her, smiling. "Fine. Where's everyone else?"
"Matt and TK are dragging some more people here and everyone else is... around somewhere," she replied, glancing around.
Just then, Yolei, Cody, Izzy, Sora, Joe, and Tai came into the room.
"Matt just called. They'll be here in a few minutes," Izzy said, sitting down. "Now what was that all about, Tai?"
"What?" Kari asked. "Now what did you do?"
"It doesn't matter," Tai said, sitting down.
Everyone vaguely noticed that Tai was drifting away from the others, especially when the topic of Matt came up. He sat in the corner of the room, staring off into space when TK stalked into the room. Following him was Matt and a group of four behind him.
"Hey, you lot are here too," Akemi commented, taking a seat beside Kari and casually throwing his arm around her.
Tai scowled at the teenager and he quickly shredded his arm off of her.
"Are they also coming to the strip club with us on Friday?" Istu asked.
"ISTU!" Matt hissed. "What did I tell you in the van?"
"That you love me?"
Matt sighed and momentarily buried his head into his hands. He looked up. "I need to get back a very very important device."
"Then why are we here?" Toshiki asked.
"Matt did say he needed our help," said Gendo.
"If I don't get it back... I-I just need it back."
"Then why are they here?" asked Toshiki.
"Because they need to distract my dad long enough so that you can steal it back for me," Matt replied.
"We do?" Sora asked.
"Yes, hope you don't mind. You didn't all have to be here. All of you don't need to help."
"Good," Tai said, standing up. He left the room abruptly.
After a moment, Istu asked, "Anyone else notice that this is his house?"
Matt sighed, frowning as he watched Tai leave. He turned back, beginning to tell the Digidestined and his band the plan to get back his digivice.
**~**
It was Saturday night. The Digidestined and Teenage Wolves had spent all afternoon (as soon as Mr. Ishida left the house for work) looking for the key to the cabinet where Matt's digivice was being held. So far, not much had been found. At one point, Joe found a key hidden in Mr. Ishida's room under his mattress (next to some quite disturbing magazines that he and Izzy didn't dare tell Matt or TK about) that everyone got excited over. When they tried it, it didn't work. Now Joe was trying to find out where that key went to.
"Joe, it probably is an extra work key," Sora said, beginning to get annoyed with the blunette. "Now put it back where you found it before you lose it."
"Don't you have it?" Joe asked.
"No. Why would I have it?" she asked.
"Because ten minutes ago I gave it to you."
They debated the argument until Akemi walked by holding a magazine. "I already put it back. One word: chill." He walked into the bathroom and shut the door.
Joe and Sora looked back, shaking their heads. "Matt's band members are quite... odd," Joe muttered, beginning to go through the kitchen cupboard for the third time that day.
Matt found TK sitting on the couch, looking tired.
"You okay?" he asked.
TK gave a weak smile. "Just a bit tired. How's your back?"
"Fine," Matt replied, sitting next to the younger blonde.
"How you holding out with Tai?"
Matt didn't reply, instead stared longingly outside. The truth was, he missed Tai more than everything. The moment he left his room the day they came up with the plan broke Matt's heart and he hoped Tai would have come Saturday to help look for the key, seeing that Kari probably told him the plan anyway, but that never happened. He was the only one not here.
"Sorry he didn't show up. He--"
"It doesn't matter. If he doesn't want to help, it's his choice. I just remembered a spot where the key might be." Matt stood up quickly and left his brother.
"Hey Matt, what time will your dad be home by?" Gendo asked.
"Probably not until midnight or so," Matt replied, looking at the clock that read seven thirty. He hoped that they would find they key before then and get his digivice so that they could start going back to the Digital World and fight Ken again the very next day.
"We've searched everywhere!" Yolei complained, "I'm getting tired of this. I could be on a date right now."
"But you're not, so keep looking," Davis said, slightly irritated.
**~**
Cody and Yolei were both long gone from the Ishida apartment now that it was ten eighteen. TK was sitting on the couch for a break again and to also watch out for Mr. Ishida just in case he did come home early. Davis, Matt, Izzy, Joe, Kari, Sora, and the Teenage Wolves were still searching the household for that key.
"What if it's attached to his key chain?" Joe asked, "Wouldn't that be the most likely reason why we can't find it?"
"No. I'm certain he's hidden it because it's never on his key chain when he unlocks it and he's gone into his room afterwards," said Matt.
"Well guys, I should get going--"
"I found it!" Istu exclaimed, cutting off Joe and running into the room.
"Istu, you genius!" Matt cried out happily, approaching him excitedly. "Thank you! Now where's the key?"
"Not until you give me a kiss."
"Istu, give me the key," Matt said warningly. He hissed, "Stop scaring the others! Just give me the key!"
Istu rolled his eyes. "Fine, take the blasted key. I'll just keep these magazines I found next to the key... Ugh, they have girls on them. Not good."
"Where did you find the key?" Sora and Joe asked at the same time.
"Under the mattress next to these magazines."
Both Sora and Joe groaned.
"We've already found that key, you idiot!" Gendo exclaimed.
Istu blushed and put down his head. "I'll go put everything back."
Matt sighed. "Let's keep looking."
"I think I found it," Kari said quietly.
Everyone turned to her.
"It was in the pocket of Mr. Ishida's shirt," she explained. "Here Matt."
"Thanks," Matt said, reaching to take it.
She pulled her hand away. "I'm not giving it unless you promise to talk to Tai first."
"Oh, relationship problems," Istu chorused, winking, "you know my number if things don't work out."
"Is he always like this?" Sora asked, slightly baffled.
"Yes," Matt replied effortlessly. He turned back to Kari, requesting, "Kari, give me the key."
"Not until you promise to talk to Tai."
"It's his fault. Now give me the key."
"No. Not until you promise."
"Uh oh! Dad's home!" TK called. "Shit, he's about to unlock the door!"
Matt turned to Kari, pleading, "Please give me the key! Please Kari! I need it."
"Just make the promise. You know you want to make up with him."
"Matt, I'm home. What in the world...? Who do all of these pairs of shoes belong to? Matt?"
"I promise!" Matt said frantically. He took the key from Kari and handed it to Toshiki. "Open it now! We'll go take him out of the here or something."
"Matt?" Mr. Ishida was still calling. TK hurried to the front area. "What are you doing here, TK?"
"I asked Matt for school help and-- hey Dad, what are you doing?" TK kept talking, but Mr. Ishida walked past him and into the kitchen, just as Toshiki was unlocking the cupboard.
"What are you doing? Why are all of these people over, Matt?" he asked, scanning the room. His eyes narrowed on the key. "Give me that!"
Toshiki froze and dropped the key. He quickly scrambled to pick it up as Istu knelt beside him to "help" him. When Toshiki rose, Mr. Ishida snatched the key from him.
"Now everyone out. I should be calling your parents this."
"Not that mine would listen," Gendo muttered as he went to the front door.
Akemi was the first to leave, claiming he forgot about a date he was supposed to meet. Soon everyone left, except for Istu, Toshiki, and TK.
"Call me later," Istu said.
Matt rolled his eyes. "Not in front of my dad," he whispered.
"No, seriously, call me later." He flashed something bronze at Matt, that made the blonde smile.
Matt nodded. After that, Istu and Toshiki left. Matt turned around, facing his father.
"I-"
"Don't start with me. You and your excuses. No going to band practice for a week."
"But we have a gig in two weeks!" Matt exclaimed.
"What you did is despicable."
"I need back my digivice!" he shot back. "You have no idea how much I need it back. Just give it to me!"
"Don't order me around. Go to your room. Take TK with you."
Matt scowled and stormed to his room, waiting for his brother to come into the room before slamming the door.
"Now what?" he asked. "How can I get back my digivice?"
"I'm not sure. But let's think about it in the morning," TK said.
"It's Kari's fault, really."
"Don't be blaming. She's just trying to help your relationship with Tai."
"Yeah, but did she really need to do that? I know she meant well, but now she made it so everyone knows about our relationship and knows we're having problems," Matt countered.
"At least she didn't say anything about your back outloud."
"I guess," Matt said, sighing. "I'm going to bed. I'll get you some spare blankets."
