Chapter Five

There days passed since Tora's arrival to the Temple of Silent Quickening and he was finding it very difficult to come up with a plan to destroy the Control Spire Fragment. He got up from his bed and picked up his katana from the desk in his room. Before opening the door, he took a deep breathe. “It's now or never, I have to try to destroy that worthless piece of trash.” He said to himself.

Tora opened the door to see that the halls of the temple were filled with other hunters of low rank, his subordinates. Telling them that he was making a routine check of temple would be the best course of action, and knowing his rank he could get away with a lie like that. He started walking down the halls of the first floor; greeting and bowing to the hunters he went by.

He finally reached the basement and was heading down the hall towards the fragment. `So far, so good', he thought. Tora made it passed ten different hunters before he made it to the basement of the temple. He was getting closer to the fragment when he bumped in to a hunter who could be now older than twenty-five. “Young master, pleasure to see you.” The man said with a smile.

“Yes, good morning.” Tora returned the smile and walked passed the hunter. He thought he was home free but a hand stopped him by his shoulder. “Is there something you need?” Tora said with a stern tone in his voice.

“Well, I was wondering what you're doing here sir?” The hunter released his grip on Tora realizing his place.

“I'm just checking the fragment to make sure everything is under control.” Tora continued to walk towards the room but he was stopped again. “Is there something wrong, that you need to keep holding back?” Tora was getting a little more than angry with the hunter's interruption.

“I am sorry sir, but there is no need for you to go in to…” the hunter was about to finish his sentence until the alarm of the temple sounded.

“All hunters to arms, a rogue Digimon is on the premises.” The P.A. system alerted. “Champion level, Vaccine type Digimon; name unknown.”

“What in the Digital world is…” the hunter that was with Tora was cut off again, this time by Tora himself. Before the hunter saw it coming, Tora struck him with the hilt of his katana in the stomach rendering him unconscious.

“I'm sorry my friend, but this is one way of keeping you form getting hurt.” Tora ran towards the Fragment room like a bolt of lightning. He finally reached the room and was now contemplating on how to destroy the Control Spire Fragment. “I should have come up with a better plan” he cursed his bad timing and figured his luck couldn't get any worse. Just then a random hunter was thrown in to the room screaming before hitting the floor and landing right beside him. “Well, I guess I get to see who has been causing all the trouble.”

“That would be me, Hunter!” yelled a deep yet powerful voice. The Digimon walked in the room calmly, drawing a sword from a sheath connected to the back of his pants. “I see my mission couldn't be easy. Seeing you wear that white robe can only mean you're the Blade of Judgment.”

“Yes, but I am not your enemy.” Tora said while staring at the massive Digimon. “Please we are on the same side.”

“Save it, you shall be taken down by the might of Leomon!”

“Oh crap…” Tora dodged the attack from Leomon's sword. Tora quickly drew his katana and parried the next attack. It was duel of swords until Leomon pulled back his fist.

“Fist of the Beast King!” Leomon launched his technique but Tora leaped in to the air, effortlessly dodging the assault. “Not bad Blade of Judgment.” Leomon spun quickly in to a horizontal sword strike and it almost connected to Tora's side but lucky for him he blocked Leomon's attack. They were at a stalemate and both warriors decided to jump back away from each other.

“Please, stop your attack. I don't want to hurt you.” Tora sheathed his sword and Leomon followed suit. “I am here to do the same thing you came to do; I want to destroy that Fragment!”

“And how can I trust you Hunter?” Leomon asked, never losing eye contact with Tora. “How do I know you are not going to just stab me in the back when I am not looking?

“I will not betray you, because I want to help Digimon. Not kill them.” Tora walked towards the lion warrior and placed a hand on his stomach. “Please, let's work together.”

“Why… are you touching me? Leomon looked at Tora with confusion in his sky blue eyes.

“Blaze taught me that by touching another warrior, you can feel their pain.” Tora blushed as heard the lion man start to purr like a kitten. “You have been through a lot of pain, Leomon.”

“I see. There's some good in you Hunter.” Leomon was about to put one his massive hands on Tora's shoulder when he heard foot steps coming down the hall towards the room. “Stay behind me.” Leomon pushed Tora behind him and drew his blade ready to fight.

Ten hunters entered the Fragment room and each of them drew a sword. “Release Master Shintaro now you worthless piece of shit.” One of the hunters cried out. “If you don't comply, we will delete you.”

“You will do nothing of the sort. Stand down now!” Tora commanded moving from behind Leomon. “Withdraw your swords, now!”

“Master Shintaro… Surrender or be executed!” Another hunter called out.

“What?!” Tora wasn't surprised that his own people would go against him. Especially for telling them to do the opposite of what they were taught to do. “So much for that.” Tora drew his katana and stood beside Leomon.

“Are you really going to fight against your own men?” Leomon asked still looking at the opponents on the other side of the room.

“I have made my choice.” Tora said not regretting his words. “This is my destiny.”

“I see. Well, I don't intend on dying here so be sure to watch my back as I watch yours.” Leomon lunged at the other hunters with Tora right behind him. The battle itself was almost too hard to comprehend for the human eyes. Both Leomon and Tora seemed to be moving faster than the hunters could keep up with. Swords were clashing and warriors were screaming.

“Silent Flash!” Tora screamed the name of his attack and just like the name, the entire room flashed white. A second later, Tora was putting his katana away. As soon as the sword was fully in the sheath, the hunters fell to their feet with a loud groan of pain.

“Did you kill them?” Leomon asked, amazed with what he just saw.

“No, I used the back of my sword.” Tora said wiping the sweat from his forehead. “I can't kill them knowing that it is not their fault for what they believe in. I must stop Genai from what he is doing and find out his true plan.”

“Well we can't stay here, there will be more hunters coming for us.” Leomon looked at the fragment and then back at Tora. “We'll have to deal with the fragment another time. Right, now we need to get out here.”

“There should be a still be a Trailmon out side of the temple.” Tora began to run ahead when Leomon stopped him by his arm. “You still don't trust me?”

“It's not that, you have proven yourself to me as a trustworthy teammate.” Leomon knelt down on one knee and introduced himself. “I am Leomon, Captain of the `Hunter Resistance'.”

“My name is Tora Shintaro, Ex-Member of the `Blades of Judgment'.” Tora bowed to Leomon in his usual fashion.

“Now that we know each other; shall we get going, partner?” Leomon said with a grin on his face.

“Yes and lets hurry while we're at it.” Tora patted Leomon on his shoulders and they both sprinted for the exit. With swords in hand they were ready for a difficult time in getting out of the temple.
