The Fox who cried Vampire
Part 5
by Chibi Renamon
Ruki wakes up slowly and shakes her head.
She has had strange dreams before, but none had been as weird as the last one.
It hasn't been the first dream in which Renamon had... touched her.
The 18 year old Tamer frowns. The vampire part had been new.
She decides that this has really been the most bizarre dream she's ever had.
I mean... It has been a dream. Hasn't it?
Still frowning, her hand touches her neck, causing her to wince.
Her neck hurts.
Ruki practically jumps to her feet and dashes to the next mirror.
She ignores the shaky feeling and the slightly blurred vision and stares at her reflection.
Two small holes. I've been bitten by a vampire...
Even as she realizes that she hadn't dreamt, she starts to fall.
A split second later, she is lying in two furred arms.
"You should rest yourself, Ruki. I'll get you breakfast soon." Renamon whispers.
Nodding, Ruki closes her eyes again.
When Ruki wakes up for the second time this morning, she can see her breakfast.
A small tray is resting next to her, filled with pancakes and a glass of orange juice.
"Good morning, Heartbraker." Renamon greets her.
The fox Digimon is kneeling at her side, having obviously waited for her to wake up.
Ruki's hand involuntarily travels up to her neck again.
"Don't. It'll never heal if you scratch it." Renamon tells her.
Ruki nods and starts to eat.
"I hope you haven't planned much for today." Renamon continues.
Ruki raises an eyebrow, causing Renamon to chuckle.
"No, I didn't plan to ravish you all day." the Digimon answers the unasked question.
"Oh, I wouldn't mind." Ruki replies with a smile.
"I can imagine that. But I have other plans for today. Starting with..."
Ruki frowns when Renamon's voice trails off. The kitsune closes her eyes in anticipation.
"Ruki, won't you come out for breakfast?" a voice from the outside asks.
Mom! What now? Ruki asks herself while Renamon disappears.
She looks at the tray, trying to think of a good answer.
"Ummm... No thanks, I've already got something to eat." she answers.
"I have been in the kitchen all morning. Don't lie to me."
With these words, Mikino opens the thin door to Ruki's room and steps inside.
Ruki's mother frowns when she sees the tray.
"How'd you get that? I haven't seen you today." Mikino snaps.
A friendly fox vampire spirit brought it. Ruki thinks sarcastically.
Trying to buy some seconds, she drinks some juice.
"I brought it."
Ruki coughs up her juice at the soudn of Renamon's voice.
The tall fox is standing directly behind Mikino, who now whirls around.
"Wha-" her mother shouts in surprise, then she seems to freeze.
After a while, Mikino is standing at ease in front of the Digimon.
Ruki stands up and carefully approaches the silent pair.
The first thing she notices is the eerie glow in her Digimon's eyes.
"What's-" she starts to ask.
"I'll explain it later. Just eat your breakfast." Renamon whispers, staring into Mikino's eyes.
"What if my grandmother starts looking for her?" Ruki asks then.
"Tell her who I am. I'm sure she'll understand. But leave out the vampire part."
Ruki frowns. The day would be quite interesting.
Mikino screams at the sight of the yellow monster.
Has it come for her? Or maybe for her daughter?
"Ruki, run!" she finally shouts, glancing briefly at her-
Where's Ruki? she asks herself when she can't see her daughter.
"Mrs. Makino. Please-" the fox monster starts to speak.
Mikino starts to move backwards when she realizes that Ruki is nowhere in sight.
"What has happened to Ruki?" she hisses, trying to think of a way out.
"Ruki is fine. Trust me. My name is Renamon and I-"
"WHERE IS SHE?" Mikino yells, causing the monster to sigh.
"Mikino. Please take a look out of the window."
Never taking her eyes off the Renamon-monster, Mikino moves towards the window.
Then she risks a quick look out and gasps.
There is nothing outside. Just an endless white space.
"You're experiencing something that's similar to a dream." the monster calmly explains.
Mikino gulps, suddenly feeling very lost.
"I can feel that you're uncomfortable. Maybe this will help."
Ruki's room starts to fade out, and another room fades in.
"This is the last photo set I have been at." she observes with a frown.
The room looks like an expensive living room in an old mansion.
She has done some photos here, dressed like a rich lady of that time.
Snap out of it! Mikino tells herself and faces the monster again.
"Better?" the fox asks, motioning at the couch.
Mikino slowly nods and sits down.
And Renamon starts to explain her history.
How she met Ruki, what she had wanted, how she loved Ruki.
The young mother only listens because she has no other choice.
"So you love my daughter." she mocks Renamon.
"With all my heart." Renamon answers.
"And have you... and Ruki... I mean... made love?"
Mikino bites her lower lip and almost screams when the fox nods.
Renamon can feel the disgust the woman tries to hide.
The ability of Seduction has certainly helped.
Being trapped in this dream world, Mikino has been forced to listen to her story.
Of course, Renamon has left out the vampire and kitsune parts.
Things were difficult enough already.
But that didn't convince her, and Renamon tried to aim at that.
"So you were the one who made Ruki behave this way?" Mikino barks.
Renamon sighs and shakes her head.
Good keyword. Time for my trump card.
"No. Much to my regret, she did behave that way before we met."
Mikino blinks when she hears that.
"Much to your regret?" the woman asks, having swallowed the bait.
"I want Ruki to see other people. Make friends." Renamon whispers.
Renamon uses the same tone of voice Mikino would use in this situation.
Oh, my poor daughter, how I would wish for her not to behave like this! she silently mocks Mikino.
"You... do?" the woman on the couch asks.
"I won't be around forever. And I want Ruki to live a happy life."
Liar. That vampire bite made you almost immortal. her inner voice remarks.
When Mikino doesn't reply, Renamon decides to push on.
"I have a suggestion for you." she announces, making Mikino frown.
"I will make a woman out of your little tomboy." Renamon tells her.
There is a long pause.
"Where's the catch?" the woman finally asks.
"In return, you will accept me and my relationship with Ruki."
Mikino thinks about the offer.
"Mikino, I could have hidden much longer. But I want you to accept me." she adds after a while.
Finally, Mikino sighs.
"I guess I don't have a real choice." she mutters.
"Then I ask you to prove it."
And with these words, Renamon withdraws from Mikino's mind.
"A fascinating story, my dear." Rumiko whispers.
Ruki has been surprised how controlled her grnadmother has reacted.
But the old lady seemed willing to see Renamon as a part of the family.
That would leave Mom. I bet she'll yell at me once she snaps out of that trance.
"So you don't mind? I mean, she has become much more than just a friend-"
"Ruki. If you are happy with... Renamon, then I am happy."
Ruki hugs her grandmother and thanks her.
"Whoa..." she can hear her mothers voice in the background.
Time for the trouble to start.
Ruki looks up at her mother and waits, biting her lower lip.
Mikino just stares at her, then at Rumiko. Finally she glances at Renamon.
The fox simply nods, causing Mikino to sigh.
"Ruki. Do you really love... her?" she asks Ruki.
"Yes, Mom. And nothing you say will-" Ruki starts to answer, but Mikino holds her hand up.
"If you really love her, then I... then I welcome Renamon in our house."
Ruki gasps when she hears her mother's words. Even Rumiko cocks her head in surprise.
"Thank you, Mikino." Renamon says, bowing her head slightly.
"I'm proud of you." Rumiko tells Mikino.
"Yes, I believe everything will work out in the end." Mikino says, looking at Renamon.
The Digimon smiles and nods.
"Don't worry, you have kept your word and I will keep mine." Renamon answers.
What kind of arrangement am I missing here? Ruki asks herself.
Then she decides that she doesn't care. Her family has accepted Renamon. That's all that counts.
As soon as her mother and grandmother have left the room, Ruki jumps up and hugs Renamon.
"Oh Renamon! I'm so happy!" she whispers into her ear.
"I know, Heartbreaker. But I have to tell you something." Renamon answers flatly.
Ruki takes a step back and frowns.
"You smell like a dirty fox." Renamon tells her with a chuckle.
Quickly she picks up the now laughing girl and carries her towards the bathroom.
Renamon has prepared a bath before Ruki had eaten her breakfast.
The water is still quite warm, and Ruki instantly sinks into the tubs, sighing.
"You want to join me?" the girl suddenly asks with a mischievous grin.
Geez, doesn't this girl ever think of something else? Renamon asks herself and smiles.
"I'd love to, but I have to leave for a moment." she answers.
Then she disappears to get some things she has ordered.
I must be out of my mind. Lee tells himself as he exits his house.
He has left Terriermon at home. He'd talk with Ruki alone.
Sighing, Lee starts to walk.
Ruki steps out of the bath and grabs her towel. At least she tries to do it.
But this time there is no towel. Ruki sighs.
"Looking for something?" Renamon asks, startling her.
The Digimon is standing directly behind her and nuzzles the back of her neck.
At the same time, the Digimon touches her with the towel Ruki has looked for.
The young woman enjoys the soft touch on her skin, feeling like a queen.
When Renamon has finished, Ruki starts binding her hair together into her wild ponytail.
"Why don't you just let your hair drop over your shoulders?" Renamona asks her.
Ruki frowns and stares at her partner.
"Are you kidding?" she finally asks.
"Trust me. You'll look much better this way." Renamon encourages her.
"I'll look like a silly little girl."
"Maybe I want you to be my silly little girl?" Renamon asks playfully.
Ruki can feel her resistance melt away.
"Maybe you should stop acting like a psycho killer tomboy." Renamon adds.
Ruki's eyes become small slits when she hears that.
"What's wrong with my image?" she hisses.
Renamon leans over to her and moves closer to her ear.
"That image drove me away from you, remember?" the Digimon whispers.
Ruki gulps. Was Renamon hinting that she might leave again?
The girl quickly hugs Renamon and holds her close.
"I don't want you to leave. Ever." she whispers desperately.
Humans. They're so easy to manipulate. Renamon thinks.
She has always wanted Ruki to be nicer. On the inside and on the outside.
So it hasn't been too hard to bait Mikino with her promise.
And Ruki would do anything to please Renamon. Anything.
"Well, I guess I can be a bit nicer to people." Ruki admits.
Instead of answering, Renamon nuzzles her naked body.
Ruki moans softly, silently begging the Digimon to continue.
But the kitsune withdraws and presents her a gift box.
"What's this?" Ruki asks.
Presents in the bathroom aren't something she is used to.
"Open it." Renamon tells her with a smile.
Ruki complies and gasps as she takes out the content of the box.
Inside the box has been a silken kimono colored dark blue.
Its back is dominated by a large image of a yellow fox.
The fox's stance reminds Ruki of an ancient dragon, which is more often found on kimonos.
"It's... It's beautiful." Ruki stammers.
"Just like you." Renamon whispers.
"So you have made a deal with her?" Rumiko asks after Mikino has told her story.
"I just hope this fox keeps her promise." Ruki's mother answers.
"Don't worry. Ruki has told me that Renamon is very loyal."
"Yeah. It would be really nice if Ruki would inivite somebody in."
Rumiko smirks when she hears that.
"You have to give them some time." Mikino's mother says.
Just then, the doorbell interrupts their conversation.
She'll kill me. Terriermon really owes me something.
Lee sighs as he waits at the Makino's door.
The woman who opens the door could have been Ruki's sister. But Lee knows better.
"Good morning, Mrs. Makino. My name is Jenrya Lee and I have come to see Ruki."
Ruki's mother blinks and stares at him for a while.
"Wow. That was quick." she mutters.
"Pardon me?" Lee asks with a raised eyebrow.
Mrs. Makino shakes her head and smiles.
"Nothing. Please, do come in."
Renamon and Ruki exit the bathroom minutes later.
Ruki is wearing the kimono and seems to be in heaven.
As long as she doesn't ask how I paid for it...
The Digimon almost feels guilty. Almost.
She has paid for the kimono with a credit card.
A credit card she has created this morning. Her kitsune powers seem to be unlimited.
The only thing that bothers her is the sunlight.
She could do so much more at night. Still, her current powers are quite remarkable.
But they come at a high price. Renamon reminds herself, looking at Ruki.
Fortunately, the young woman really loves her.
Renamon dismisses her thoughts when Mikino walks past them.
Ruki's mother seems to be... happy. Delighted.
"Why, hello you two. Having a good time?" she asks them brightly.
Renamon's eyes widen. What had happened?
The fox Digimon almost yelps when Mikino gently pets her shoulder.
"Aren't you the cutest critter?" the woman asks happily.
"Mom? Everything all right?" Ruki asks with a raised eyebrow.
Renamon notices that Ruki is already acting nicer.
"Picture perfect, dear. Oh, by the way, your friend is waiting in your room."
"Friend?" Ruki asks, looking first at her mother, then at Renamon.
Renamon just shrugs. Then she can make out a scent.
"It's Lee." she says when she has identified the smell.
Ruki gives her a stare of death.
"Hey, that wasn't my idea!" Renamon quickly tells her.
Ruki frowns, then smiles at her mother, who hasn't even noticed the short discussion.
"See, Mom? Everything's going to be all right." the girls says.
"Of course, dear." Mikino smiles back and walks away.
"That was weirder than Twilight Zone." Ruki mutters.
Renamon just shrugs and disappears.
