Twenty-four Hours

Chapter Five: Running out of time

Lee slowly opened his eyes and the first thing he saw was the ceiling that didn't look familiar at all. He turned his head to see his older sister Jianliang. The surrounding was not the same either and the vibes where not the same what he would get from his sister.

"Just relax Lee-kun," she said pulling the covers to his neck, "you're still shaking from that car all most hitting you."

"Takato ...."

"You want Takato?" Jianliang asked greatly surprised, "I'll get him if that's what you want."

Lee nodded his head wondering why she was surprised that wanted to see him. She got to her feet and walked out, her high-heal-shoes going clank clank. All of a sudden they stopped and right after that he could hear voices from the hallway.

"Why are you being so stubborn? He wants to see you!"

"You just don't understand! I'm the reason he ran away in the first place!"

Takato? Lee got out of be walked out of the room to see his sister and Takato standing and looking at him. Takato looked very pitiful and Jianliang didn't look to fare off. Further more, where was his younger sister, mom, dad, and where was he? Too many questions and so little time.

"Lee, can you hear me?"

"Dad? Yea, I hear you. What's going on?"

Jianliang's eyes widen in shock with disbelieve on her face. No, it can't be, she thought, they are dead! Mom Suzie, dad are dead! She then turned and ran out of the apartment reaching into her pocket when she closed the door.

"Lee, is everything all right?"

"I'm not sure, Jianliang just ran out of the apartment ...."

"Who are you?" The -other-world-Takato finally asked with a serious look on his face.

"Takato is that you?"

"Yes ...."

"Dad, I'll explain everything to him ...."

"You better hurry though .... you have ...."

"Dad, you're breaking up! I can't hear you .... dad!"

Nothing.

All they got was static from the watch after Lee shook his wrist.

"Stupid piece of gunk! I don't know why my dad trusts Yamaki!"

"Yamaki? Just who in the hell are you?" The-other-world-Takato asked angrily.

"I really wish I could," Lee responded reaching out for his love but he pulled away.

"Don't touch me!"

Lee pulled his hand back with a hurt look on his face. Why did it all of a sudden fill like it hurt when The-other-world Takato said? Was he getting closer to finding the right Takato?

"I'm sorry ... I won't touch you again .... I'll leave ..... If that's what you want ...."

The half-Chinese boy turned and started to head to the door when strong hands caught his shoulders turned him around to see dark chocolate brown eyes.

"Takato ... I have to go ...."

"I'm sorry Lee-cha - - - Lee-kun," He said pulling the other boy into a hug, "I truly am .... please don't leave me again! I didn't mean to hurt you ....."

"Shhh .... you didn't hurt me ...."

"Don't tell me you don't remember .... I ... I kissed you .... don't you remember? .... I don't remember what happen after that .... but the next thing I know ... you, Suzie , and your parents got hit by a car .... you where the only one who made it ..... shortly after you ran away .... Jianliang ....."

Jianliang, that's right .... she ran out of the apartment when she heard fathers voice .... know I know why .... I'm just like a shadow here .... I've got to leave .... with no other thoughts, Lee pushed the-other-world-Takato out of the way and started to run with his Digimon partner close behind.

"Lee, wait! Don't leave me!"

The-other-world-Takato started to chase after them. I'm sorry Takato-chan ... but I don't belong here .... a dull stream of light appeared in the park. Good! That's my ticket out of this place .... I hope the next place is the last! I'm running out time! I don't want to lose him for ever. As he ran, he could here his boyfriend telling him to stop but he couldn't .... he can't stop now ... not when he has only three hours left. Lee put his sunglass on and was about to jump into it when a Digimon came and lunged for him.

"Lee, look out!"

He stepped back as Terriermon jumped off his shoulder ready to fight. Lee scanned his cared threw his D-Ar and the Digimon evolved to Rapidmon.

"Get him!"

"You got it! Tri-Beam!"

A glowing triangle appeared and the Digimon was hit and vaporized. Rapidmon landed on the pavement with a loud thud and was back to Terriermon with ease.

"That was too ease ...." said Lee , "and where are the others?"

"Gone." The-other-world-Takato said sounding very small. "Even Gulimon. My parents even kicked me out ... Jianliang was the only one who was nice enough to take me in."

"I'm sorry," Lee responded backing away, "But I have to go! I don't belong here!"

"Yes you do! You belong here with me! I love you!" The-other-world-Takato stated throwing his arms around his love.

"Takato ... please .... don't do that to me," Lee chocked trying to held back his tears, "you have to let me go. I have to go ... I don't belong here ...."

"Why .... why don't you belong here ..."

"I can't tell you." Said Lee seeing another dull light three feet away, "just promise me that you take care of Jianliang for me."

"I will." The-other-world-Takato said letting his hands drop to his side not wanting to hurt Lee anymore than he has.

"Thanks Takato-chan."

Lee turned and was about to head into the strip of light when Takato spoke up again.

"Lee, I have one question ...."

"Yes? What is it?"

"Did we ever fall in love?"

"Of course we have .... the Takato I'm looking for is the reason I'm here .... I have to save him and .... Oh shit! I have to go the portal is closing!"

"This is good-bye ... I guess ..."

"I'm sorry ..."

"You better go ..."

Lee bit his lower lip as tears started to slide down his cheeks as he turned and walked into the dull light not even looking back.
